Yeah, after reading some of the posts in this thread,I'd be cool if Guy was retained. Sounds like these guys may not have been listened to enough. Let's hope that changes under Nix.
-
Well,if that's true we don't really know how good Guy is either. I had heard about Modrak not having final say,but this is new to me about Guy. I've read enough about Modrak before and since he's been in Buffalo to feel he's a good football man. I guess we'll just have to trust Nix's judgement on Guy.

Guy is in charge of pro FA signings right? If so,he should go. I actually think Modrak is pretty good. I hope he stays.

Blast from the past: Review of the first CD player - circa 1983

That's a good memory right there! I remember my dad pulling tubes out of the tv when it would start acting up. He'd take them to the Thrifty store, check 'em on the tester, and buy the replacement tubes there too. Seems like tv repair is sort of a thing of the past. People just seem to replace them every few years now. -

The LCD flat screen in my den has something wrong with it and has to "warm up" about 5 minutes before you get a picture. It reminds me of my younger years when all tv's did that! -
I don't know if he's a bad choice or not. I don't know enough about him yet. I'm gonna withhold judgement until I learn more. The things I have posted are not opinions or judgements, just facts.

Still don't understand what him having a heart attack has to do with his coaching ability. I think Ditka had a heart attack when he was in his prime as a coach. If the guy can coach,I could care less if he was in a wheelchair. Also,Schonerts situation was much different. Gailey was a holdover from the previous regime. The new GM and HC wanted their own guy as OC.

Whats that got to do with anything??????

Back in my drinking days I loved to play quarters. Simple and primitive as it is,it was fun and effective.

Great post. I agree on all points,we're not as far off as it seemed. Cutting Langston Walker was the single dumbest move the FO made in the off season, imo. We all debated the Peters trade, but in the end I don't think the guy would have ever worked in Buffalo,so it was best to get something for him. Cutting Walker put a hole in the line that was never patched. It left the team scrambling, and effected depth everywhere along the line. It made no sense. So like you said,we pick up 2 T's,one starting material, and the line could bounce back quickly. -

Yeah, those were COOL. They were actually a nice piece of furiture that was the center piece of lots of living rooms in the 60's and 70's. How about those big stereos that were built the same way? http://www.hallowquest.com/CabinetLeftFront.jpg -
Buffalo Bills Talent Evaluators
el Tigre replied to evilbuffalobob's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I've always thought Modrak was pretty good. He had a very good reputation when he came here,I don't see why he would have suddenly got stupid when he got to Buffalo. I read somewhere that he was in charge of gathering player info and putting together the draft board. And that the final draft day decisions were the GM's duties. If that's the case,it would explain some of the high round draft picks that haven't panned out. I would like to see Modrak stay on,in some capacity, with Nix. -
a year ago today......Circuit City went buh-bye
el Tigre replied to The Poojer's topic in Off the Wall Archives
I miss Circuit City. I never worked there, but now that they're gone there's only Best Buy and Sears for competition where I live. And Best Buy sucks, imo. There's always a 19 year old salesman, who don't know sh-t,trying to talk me into something more expensive. And then he won't take NO for an answer about his dumbass extended warranty. Circuit City would usually end up with my buisness cuz they had reasonably intellegent salesmen, good prices and a good selection (better than Best Buy). Now I usually buy at Sears. Why did Circuit City go under? -
Damn! the links not working for me. Sounds like I'm missing a good joke.

There's a lot more that goes into the HC position than personnel decisions and X and O's. You've got to deal with the media alot more. You'd have to directly deal with the owner, and all the politics that go with that,a lot more. You become the face of the franchise, and everything you do and say gets scrutinized. There's a lot of long-time assistants around that have no desire to be a HC,because they don't want to deal with all the political crap that comes with it. They just want to coach football. If a guy's happy with his job and his income and wants to stay put,I say more power to him.

I remember when cd's first came out,I thought they sucked. Too small, tiny cover art, limited liner notes. Now I think they're great cuz of the space they save. This kind of discussion really makes me feel old. -
You're right about that. Don't know how he'd do as a HC tho. College and the NFL are so different,it's hard to guess how well a guy will do when going from one to the other.

I really like the possibility of Frazier as HC
el Tigre replied to DarthICE's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Do a little reading on the guy. Go to some more independant sources, not just ones that are related to the Buffalo HC search. I think you'll be pretty impressed. -
You want somebody to give you the shaft huh? Not that there's anything wrong with that. Sorry, but you knew somebody was gonna do it.

The more I hear about Frazier the more I like him. Just cuz he prefers a cover-2 D doesn't mean it would be the same D as Jaurons. That said,I don't think our defense was the problem anyway. I won't be disappointed if he's the hire.
