  1. I know we got some ND fans here. Who do you guys think will be your new coach? Stoops,Harbaugh,Kelly or somebody else? I think Harbaugh stays at Stanford and Kelly has too much baggage. I say it's Stoops. What do you guys think?
  2. You need to stop drinking the kool-aid and open your eyes bro. Either party can lead us to good times if the people are living right. Unfortunately we aren't,so no matter what political ideology is applied the people will ruin it. Capitalism won't work because the powerful will take it to the extreme and pit workers against each other and make life a battle among wolves for survival. Socialism won't work because too many wouldn't willingly work to their abilities to make it work. It's how we got here and it's how we're gonna keep going unless we get back to morality. It's not about an ideology,it's about doing the right thing for everyone.
  3. Rodriguez will be given at least one more year. But if he doesn't win 8 or 9 next year he will probably be gone.
  4. I'm not so sure about that. The AD and university president are still supporting RR,and he signed a 6 year contract. If it weren't for the success of Jim Harbaugh at Stanford,I'd be sure of RR's return next year. Many boosters want to bring in Harbaugh, who still hasn't signed that extension at Stanford. Still,I give RR at least a 70% chance of returning for a third year.
  5. I'd have no problem with that. Not saying that Vick is a great QB,but he's better than anything on the roster right now.
  6. It's easy to blame politicians, liberal or otherwise, for the decline of our country, but I don't buy it. The real reason is the decline of moral values in the citizenry. And not just the obvious things like drugs and sex. Much more subtle is the lack of economic morals. From poor folks who rip off welfare and refuse to work,to the rich who export the jobs that used to feed families and eliminate workers to increase executive pay. Everybody does whatever thay can get away with, instead of whats right and good for others. Until we get back to doing the right thing and willfully taking care of each other, instead of being forced to by our government, this country will continue to decline. No matter who's in office.
  7. I have a 70's system in my family room. A big Kenwood amp with VU meters,a Marantz turntable with a strobe and 4 Advent speakers. And when you dial the tuner you can spin it from one end to the other. I dig it.It's loud as hell and the bass shakes the house. But really, the cd sound is superior. Much cleaner. But there is something to playing vinyl. Having to flip the record over, the cover art,the pops and static between songs. Maybe it's just that it brings back memories, but I listen to it all the time.
  8. Ha ha. Welcome back you crazy bast***. Don't be such a stranger. It gets kinda boring without you.
  9. HOLY CRAP! Is it really him???????
  10. Interesting. I guess becuz we disagree about a college playoff that makes me "laughably pathetic." Whatever tough guy. I think you illustrate my point about some of you guys being extremists.
  11. That's becuz alot of playoff proponents are extremists. They could care less about the fact that the players are student-atheletes,and becuz of that, there are many limitations on how much time can be devoted to their sport. Not to mention the fact that a large(16-24 or more)playoff system ensures that these kids seasons will always end in a loss. The vast majority of them will never play in the NFL. Alot of these guys just want their playoff, the hell with the consequences to the student-atheletes. I'm not totally opposed to some sort of playoff or plus-one,but it has take these issues into consideration.
  12. I'm not sure what to make of the guy. He has definitely had some success but I believe he has a losing record while at Stanford. The guy's kind of a screwball, but he can coach. The college boards are linking him to Notre Dame and even Michigan. He hasn't signed an extension at Stanford even tho they've had one on the table for monthes. I have no idea where the guy ends up.
  13. Not that there's anything wrong with that.
  14. That doesn't sound right.
  15. Hey we got one of those too,and she's mean as hell! The vet actually told us that if she was a bigger dog we would probly have to put her down. My daughter calls it a taco terrier. We also have a Queensland heeler and a chocolate lab. I love Queenslands, they are great dogs. This is our third one,the first two lived to be 17 and 18 years old.
  16. Great post. I agree with all of your points. There will never be a perfect system, there's just too many teams and scheduling limitations. Somebody will always have a legitimate complaint. I don't see why so many people feel the need to "fix" the system anyway. I love college football just the way it is. I know the current system is flawed, but it's also different and exciting from the first game to the last. If I were to change it,I think a plus-one may be the way to go.
  17. I don't know that the SEC officials are any worse than any others. I've seen lots of bad calls in the Big 10 this year. What drives me crazy is when they stop the game for several minutes for review, and STILL get it wrong.
  18. IMO the threat of losing your shot at a title in week 2 is one of the things that makes college football so great. Every game is a essentially playoff. I know it's not always fair, but it makes every week exciting as hell. There's no other sport like it.
  19. With over 100 1-A schools,a 12 game season, and scheduling/time restrictions due to testing, etc.,there is never going to be a perfect system for determing a national champ. I just enjoy college football for what it is,an imperfect game that has unmatched drama from the start of the season to the finish. Much more interesting than the NFL. The debate you're bringing up just adds to that drama.
  20. I love microwave popcorn! But I don't eat it cuz it's all loaded with sodium and I have to watch my blood pressure. Now I make it in a air popper. Not as good but it satisfies the craving. Reading your post makes me feel better about not eating it!
  21. Sounds like we found our replacement for Jason Peters.
  22. Get her in shape! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4S3C4AC908w
  23. Cracked me up when I heard this on Sportcenter. My high school coach told my dad almost the exact same thing at our banquet one year. That was in the '70's. Except he left the "fat" part out,so it wasn't nearly as funny.
  24. I used to love that show. I remember they had Roberto Duran guest star on one episode.
