The 1st and goal throw to benjamin
macaroni replied to Steptide's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This may be heresy but I think it was the right call .... Run/Pass option The Jags put 10 in the box to stop the run and the WRs ended up in man to man ... send KB into the end zone, have him "post up" and get his body between the defender and the pass ... should be an automatic 6 points. If we miss the play, we are 2nd and goal at the two and the Jags have been put on notice that they have to defend the pass as well as the run. The PROBLEM with the play was ball placement, TT should have thrown the ball to KBs chest and NOT made it a jump ball, and of course the pass interference. It's easy to say the call was bad in hindsight because it didn't work .... but IMHO .... strategically it was the right call. -
[Vague Title]Can someone seriously tell me

I'M still trying to figure out why we traded Lamonica and kept Kemp ... once I figure that out I'll start worrying about Flutie & Johnson. -
IMHO .... the fix today has nothing to do with the Pats* ... the fix is in to get the Chargers into the playoffs. The way I see it is that having two teams in the playoffs would be a GREAT way to kick off LAs new teams .... and generate fan interest along the way.

2018 Trade partners moving up the board
macaroni replied to Tatonka68's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
And how many Super bowl wins between all of those QBs????? The "running QB" may be exciting to watch, he may mask a weak offense ... but a running QB will never have a long career with consistent success. -
What do you fix first? OL or QB?
macaroni replied to Canadian Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
IMHO ..... I think we could do both. I do believe we could get Mayfield, Falk, or Thorson with our second 1st round pick (maybe even our second round pick ... but I'd be chicken to wait that long) .... or even lower we could get Ferguson or Benkert with our second 2nd round pick. I think trading up to get one of the top 2 QBs would be too costly, and our team is being built so that we just need an OK QB, not necessarily a GREAT QB. We need to use as many picks as we can for linemen (both offense and defense), Wide Receivers, Line Backers, and a Running Back. Of course that's not to say if the QB that we REALLY covet drops down to our first pick that we shouldn't pull the trigger. -
Do you realize who we might face in the playoffs?

I'm hoping for us to play the Jags .... I live about 160 miles south of Jax and WILL be in attendance. -
New Orleans Scrubs at the end of the game....
macaroni replied to Billsfan1972's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Did those defenders just show up when Peterman was put in, or were they in for the majority of the second half? While I understand the concept of "garbage time" stats, and the futility of trying to assess a players performance during "garbage time" verses a player during "quality time", I propose that "garbage time" started wayyyyyyyy earlier than the traditional last few minutes of the forth quarter. IMHO, "garbage time" for the Saints game probably started somewhere in the middle of the third quarter, which leaves us the apples to apples comparison of which player looked like a real QB .... Peterman in his two possessions, or Taylor in his LAST two possessions of the game? -
What (do you think) Peterman's stats are this week?
macaroni replied to Steptide's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't think that's too overly optimistic ... IMHO, that's about what one should expect from ANY starting NFL QB on a game to game basis. Keep in mind Peterson will actually throw to his wide receivers more than his running backs. the 275 yards MAY be a little heavy considering this will be Peterman's first NFL start so I'm expecting the nerves to show up a bit at the beginning of the first quarter causing some overthrows, so somewhere in the 250ish area may be a better guess, but I think 275 is attainable. -
Most disrespectful play? The timeout on 3rd &1
macaroni replied to JerseyBills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I get what you are saying .... but what more could the Saints do to NOT run up the score than run the ball up the middle 24 consecutive times? Would you have felt it was more "respectful" for them to punt the ball back to the Bills on first downs rather than running a play???? -
I don't think anybody is blaming TT on the last two losses entirely .... they're just blaming TT for the poor QB play part of the losses
-
Peterman's performance during garbage time has nothing to do with it ... but A LOT can be read into TT's performance during the first 3.5 quarters ... 9/18 ... 56 yards ... 3 points. just sayin'
-
I see what you are saying ........ but ...... wouldn't trotting out a QB who can only put up 56 yards through the air and 3 points on the scoreboard in 3.5 quarters ALSO create "large tension"? I get it that anybody can have a bad game, but TT seems to not be able to see the WRs down field, or is unable to bring himself to throw to them. Something is broken in TT and I have no idea what the heck it could be. I really thought TT was the perfect QB for this team, low risk passes and adding to the offense with his legs, but for some reason his passing game has gotten bad .... I'm talking REALLLLLLLL BAD .... and he doesn't use his legs much any more.

IMHO .... I really think the #6 seed for the play-offs goes to a team with a 9-7 record. That being said, we have to go 4-4 for the rest of the season however there are some games more important than others. The N.O. game is probably the LEAST important game the Bills will play the rest of the season, with the most important being the Chargers and Dolphins (X2) in that order. I think that #6 spot is going to come between us and the Ravens. The bottom line is that I'm not getting my hopes up for the N.O. game ... of course as a Bills fan I'd LOVE to win it, but winning it won't get me overly excited for our play-off chances, and losing it will not bring me to the depths of despair. I will NOT expect a win nor a loss, I'll just watch the game for pure excitement and look for the Bills to fight tooth and nail with a purpose until the final gun no matter what the outcome. What had me bummed about our last game was the lack of intensity, the lack of purpose, the lack of urgency that the team had displayed up until last Thursday, I want to see that rekindled in the players for the remainder of the schedule.

Did the defense quit on Coach Thursday?
macaroni replied to Foreigner's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
IMHO ...... Travel on a short week 1st year head coach 1st time prepping for only two days (also maybe distracted by trading deadline) Team maybe starting to believe the reports that they are good, and the Jets suck (they found out that they are neither as good as reported nor are the Jets as bad) Mix em all up and lay them in front of a national audience, and you pretty much get a hot steaming pile as witnessed Thursday night -
While I agree with your premise ..... that "93" would have been a lot easier to swallow against the Falcons, Oakland, New England, Kansas City or teams of that ilk. I could have even slept well last night losing a close fought game were the ball bounced the New York way ... or the refs seemed to favor the Jets (ya gotta lose sometimes), but we were manhandled on both sides of the ball by a team we SHOULD have beaten soundly. The things we have done well up to this point were completely absent. I'm not talking about the turnovers ... they are icing on the cake ... and a result of QB pressures ... the defense shutting down the running game forcing the opponents hand into "panic passes". I'm talking about disciplined football. Minimizing pre snap penalties, maintaining our composure when we suffer a setback, making a sure tackle to minimize the opponents gains, forcing our opponent into three and outs and getting a first down or two when we have the ball to "flip the field" so we can get the field goal or maybe a TD if we get lucky. Up until last night the Buffalo Bills presented a team that was well coached, well disciplined, and gave 100% effort until the final gun and I'm I am good with that win, lose, or draw. What we had last night was a team that was out coached, out hustled, out muscled, and generally not in the same league as the Jets. The big test is how they recover from this ... do they "reset" get back to basics and fundamentals .... or .... do they panic and go down the toilet?

Ding ... Ding ... Ding ... Ding. I think you hit the nail on the head. Cap ramifications don't matter, high draft choice low draft choice or no draft choice doesn't matter. The coaching staff couldn't look the TEAM in the eye preaching 100% commitment when their highest paid player was giving much MUCH less than 100%.
-
but ..... but ..... BUT ..... That would mean we could get a QB that is possibly one round BETTER than Tom Brady ..... wait a minute .... isn't that Peterman??????
-
but .... but .... BUT Tom Brady WAS a sixth round pick. Why do you find facts so tedious, and what do you have against us random nimrods?
-
If I had to guess .... and this is ONLY a guess. Maybe Dareus either missed, or was late, or was inattentive for some meetings thinking his "star status" bought him some leeway ... and the coaching staff is adamant that they will NOT have stars ... they will have a TEAM. On the face of it based purely on his on field performance and the budgetary costs of trading vs keeping him, this trade makes no sense ... but based on the coaching staff "protecting the process" for the future of the team, I may understand it.
