  1. The biggest downside of being retired is I can't take any more "mental health" sick days ... I don't get ANY of the national holidays off ..... weekends????? same as Monday through Friday ..... vacation days???? fagetaboutit
  2. It depends ... If the new QB is the one I wanted to draft, I will make excuses for three or four seasons as to why he isn't performing. If the new QB is one that I hate going in to the draft, I'm starting to B word, piss&moan from his first incompletion/interception until he's ridden out of town three or four seasons. That's just the way we roll here at TBD.
  3. Ahhhhhhh ..... I think we know what the media "experts" are touting .... but truth be told they REALLY don't know much more than you or I. Right now Allen is hyped to be a possible #1 pick by the media, but we really don't know what the REAL experts think until draft day (I define "REAL experts" as people whose jobs depend on picking the right person at the right time). I've never said he sucks, he will get drafted by an NFL team and he will be given the chance to win a starting job, and that's not sucking. My only contention is in that there is nothing in his background or statistics that make him a consensus #1 pick. He may very well end up a HOF QB once his career is over ... but right now, at this moment, I don't see him even in the discussion of the top three QBs of the draft .... and maybe even the top 4 or 5.
  4. E.J. Comp percentages ... 2009-65.5 ... 2010-69.9 ... 2011-65.3 ... 2012-68.0 .... YPA 2009-7.7 ... 2010-9.3 ... 2011-8.6 ... 2012 ... 8.8 Josh Allen comp% ...2016-56.0 ... 2017-56.3 ... YPA 2016-8.6 ... 2017-6.7 With those college stats, if E.J. should have gone in the third round ... what round should Allen go in????? While I will agree Allen COULD have a better NFL career than EJ has, the only reason that he could is he hasn't yet had a chance to fail in the NFL. You proclaim that Allen could go first overall in a deep QB class ... exactly what puts him ahead of Mayfield, Rosen, or Darnold (you could probably throw in Rudolph and Lauletta too) in your estimation?
  5. I'm all in on Mayfield .... but .... I'd be happy with Rosen ... have injury history concerns, but I'm no doctor I'd be happy with Darnold ... I have concerns with his small sample size of a college career, he could be fools gold, but I'm not a pro scout I'd be OK with Rudolph ... IMHO he brings the best "value", allowing us to save our picks to better the team Lauletta, Falk, Ferguson, White, .... This group is kind of like wishing for that new bike for Christmas and getting underwear ... you need the underwear, it's useful, but not as near the fun ... one of these four COULD succeed ... but I don't know. I would hate Allen ... just can't get past his completion percentage I would hate Jackson ... I just don't like the entire concept of a running QB Bottom line is I truly believe we are getting a QB this draft. I believe in "the process". Whichever one we pick I will be all in because I'm a Bills fan.
  6. All could be true with the exception of the Allen being a closet cow tipper ..... everyone knows he's soooooo inaccurate that he couldn't hit the broadside of a cow.
  7. Allen's 56.2 career completion percentage just scares the bejeusus out of me. I get it that he has a canon of an arm ... but it's kind of like falling in love with the fastest WR ... only problem is he can't catch the ball ... or that work out wonder that just can't transfer that strength to the football field ... or that physical specimen of a running back whos balance is so poor that he falls down every time someone touches his ankle.
  8. Actually it wouldn't surprise me in the least if we stand pat and take Mason Rudolph at 22. He fits the GM/HC personality profile (squeaky clean off field), he fits the NFL QB "measurable" profile (height & weight), he fits the "DNA" profile (4 year starter with consistent success), and above all he fits the McDermott "I'm building a team, not collecting talent profile. Don't get me wrong .... I'd prefer Mayfield or Rosen ... just saying I wouldn't be surprised if Rudolph was their man.
  9. Ahhhhhh .... If your talking O.J. the football player, I don't agree. When he was playing he was pretty much thought of as a God of the gridiron ... if your talking post football career about the O.J. charged with the murder of his ex-wife and Ron Goldman, I think he is almost universally despised. In neither case was he a "polarizing" person. Same with Saban .... when he coached the Bills he was pretty much loved .... when he walked away from them, pretty much hated ... when he came back, pretty much forgiven. One you left off the list was Kemp/Lamonica ... half the fans LOVED Kemp and hated Lamonica ... the other half LOVED Lamonica and hated Kemp.
  10. I don't want Allen, and I'm already counting on not getting Darnold ... so the way I see it we have a better than even chance to land either Rosen or Mayfield (my personal choice).
  11. gotta be Stevie Johnson ... 3 consecutive 1000 yard seasons with us .... then nothing.
  12. Darnold- I don't believe the hype ... small sample size of success, too many turn overs. He will have a career in the NFL, but will never live up to expectations I'm saying weak starter or backup Rosen- Will be a bust ... not because of his skills, because of injury concerns Allen- Bust ... QBs do NOT get more accurate once they start playing in the NFL Mayfield- Nothing wrong with this kid a few years of maturity won't fix ... has the skills ... has the moxie ... HOF pace type of career Jackson- At the end of the day, he's a running QB. With the exception of Steve Young, running QBs have not had overly successful careers in the NFL. Jackson will be exciting to watch and may have a few good years, but will fade into obscurity quite quickly. Rudolph - Has potential to be a reliable consistent QB. Will never be the flashy guy putting up insane numbers. Has a good head on his shoulders, is well spoken. I see solid starter for him.
  13. The problem is ... there IS no "norm" It makes no difference if you draft a QB with the #1 pick like Luck or Manning, or pick him in the later rounds like Brady or Brees, or even pick up as an undrafted free agent like Romo or Warner. The basic talents need to be noticed, the QB has to be in the proper system, and the QB has to have a surrounding cast to enable him to succeed. While I will agree the higher percentage of success in finding the most "gifted" athlete lies in the top draft picks, but there are various intangibles that come into play with the QB position, if a team relies just on physical gifts you end up with a JaMarcus Russell. I would hazard to guess somewhere in those 22 QBs that have played for the Brown this last decade there were a gem or two ... they just didn't have the infrastructure to support him. I do believe the Bills will draft a QB, who he is I haven't a clue. I have MY favorite, and it's easy for me to say the Bills should trade our entire draft for the next three years to get him, but the fact of the matter is the Bills have their list of not only who they like, but it's in the order of HOW MUCH they like him and are willing to pay in draft picks to get him. Trust the process ... have faith in Beane/McDermott, they'll find some talent and they won't mortgage the future to get him.
  14. Bingo Young kid with upside ... 4 years experience ... value pick ... has as much a chance to succeed as any of them.
  15. He will get his chance .... an open competition between Him, Peterson, and Rudolph.
  16. Has anyone else made the connection ..... Rosen gets tickets to the draft, shortly thereafter the Jets leapfrog us and move to pick #3. He's already starting to "Rosen" this draft for the Bills
  17. At the end of the day, at this point in the off season and up through the draft, success depends on if your front office is better than their front office. In years gone by I'd be worried about our Bills ... but with this crew, I've been impressed. They have a plan for the future of the club, they are attempting to build a dynasty, not make splashy headlines to generate ticket sales. They are building this team from the foundation up ... one brick at a time. I am confident that this front office will find us talent at the QB position, whether it's in the top 5 picks, at pick 12, or in the second or third round ... that talented QB is there somewhere ... they will find him (and not hurt the future of the team to get him). Even with such a small sample size, I'll pit our front office & scouting staff against all the Cleveland, Colts, Jets, Chicago, Washington, Miami of the league any day of the week, can they compete with New England, Pittsburg, Green Bay ... only time will tell. Just remember when you are the verge of that pre season panic attack .... we are NOT trying to win the off season ... we're trying to build a dynasty.
  18. MY choice is Baker Mayfield ... but the question is what is Beane's choice. And just because NFL.com compares two similar style QBs, doesn't meant one will be the equal of the other. There is a better chance they will be better than or worse than.
  19. http://www.sportsonearth.com/article/224037448/quarterback-draft-classes-top-5-nfl-history Old article ... but interesting premise
  20. That's your take ...what if; Cleveland takes Darnold NYG because they have Eli takes Barkley Jets feel Bridgewater is their guy and takes Rosen, or Mayfield, or even Chubb Cleveland takes Fitzpatrick or Vea (or trades down) Denver takes Roquan Smith or Ridley (or trades down)
  21. Nope, Nope, and Nope. Very astute Chuck ... that's pretty much my bottom line .... we could have the #1 pick and end up with (AAAA) or draft later and end up with (BBBB) we (nor do the experts really know) our only hope is Beane has a better feel between the (AAAA)s and the (BBBB)s. Bingo Fixxer ... good guess.
  22. Correct on Wilson .... incorrect on Quinn. Nope on Tebow
  23. Just flipping through some old pre-draft magazines and thought it would be fun to see if anybody can guess the QBs being described by the “experts” leading up to respective draft days. Both descriptions come from a widely respected publication: (AAAA) is ready to handle the spotlight that comes with being a franchise QB. He comes from a pro style system and his footwork is excellent; he’ll slide and find throwing lanes. He has a good feel for the pocket and shows excellent touch and placement on short and intermediate throws, with a quick release. He took a lot of unfair criticism last year; play calling and poor o-line play were at fault. He didn’t deliver as a senior, but can outplay his measurables. He is the safest bet to be a true franchise QB in this draft. (BBBB) is an athlete with a big arm, the kind of unconventional QB who can extend plays and frustrate defenses. He is a natural playmaker with the ball in his hands and is a candidate to be used as a receiver, or on gadget plays. He was elected as a team captain less than two months after he arrived at (??????). His accuracy comes and goes; he is unlikely to ever become a pocket passer. The combination of athleticism and arm may be enough to earn him a backup role and a chance to play in some special packages, but he’s a long shot to be a starting QB. A couple of hints … These two players were NOT drafted in the same year Neither player is or was ever a Buffalo Bill.
  24. IMHO ... The Bills will want to trade up to #2 ... they will inquire ... they will wheel and deal .... BUT Beane & McDermott will NOT change their philosophy, they will not let the Giants bend them over a table. If the Giants ask more than the Bills feel the trade up is worth, the Bills will walk away. You never know ... the Giants may offer a good deal, the QB that the Bills like could fall below pick #3 and a trade up will be addressed again ... or ... the Bills take BPA at #12 and wait for a QB whose value matches our draft spot. As much as I WANT our top graded QB this draft, sometimes it's just not in the cards ... it will be fun to see what the Bills do between now and pick #12.
  25. Beane & McDermott are REAL big on earning the right to compete ... I think at this point McCarron legitimately has a 33.3% chance to be our starter (I think we are drafting a QB to have 3 QBs at camp)
