  1. I see a lot of predictions for what the top drafted QBs this year will become. However, they are spread out randomly across the 100 QB threads going right now (and yes, I recognize this makes 101). I say we state our predictions all in this thread and then open it up 4 years from now. We will limit it to the consensus top 5 (darn it, Rosie, all-in, may-day, and Jack rabbit) and set the prediction standards as: 1). HOF pace (Brady, Rodgers, Brees) 2). Face of Franchise (Ryan, Stafford, Newton) 3). Solid starter (Cousins, Carr, A Smith) 4). Weak starter (Cutler, Tyrod, Bortles) 5). Backup/Bust (Manuel, Manziel, Sanchez) While we all recognize that the organization each QB goes to will have an impact on his success, for the purpose of this thread we will turn a blind eye to that impact. My predictions... Darnold----Solid Starter Rosen------Bust (concussions) Allen--------Face of Franchise Mayfield--Solid Starter Jackson---Weak Starter The goal here is not to debate, but rather to go on record, lock it away, and then hold ourselves accountable for our predictions in 4 years. Have fun.
  2. I'm pumped by our moves this offseason, and thrilled by the cherry on top (sticking it to Miami). However, how does this upfront money effect our ability to resign next year's free agents, specifically Dareus? Salary Cap experts, coach me up...how do we stand?
  3. Tuck would be an asset, however, we already have so much money tied up in our dline, we need to spend our resources elsewhere. I might feel differently if he were 25, but at 31, I don't feel it's a wise investment. No doubting his talent though, he is an impact player.
  4. Wins will not earn him the job, he will need to be the reason we win. While I'm pleased with how he has filled in, he hasmt shown anything to warrant starting status upon EJ's return. He is really growing on me as a our backup, but my dream is that he raises his value to the point of trade bait. (Fingers crossed for a Kolb leaving Philly situation. They got DRC and a second in return.)
  5. Really wanted Minter, but a nice consolation prize. I'm thrilled with our first 3!
  6. Thinking that the salary cap saves this idea is short sighted. Players don't just go for the largest contract offered to them. They consider chances for championships, tv viewership, market, and endorsement dollars also. If the player happens to be a fool, you can be sure their agent will school them up. 2 mill contract in Buffalo, or 1.5 in NYC? All agents will put their player in NYC. The player would get more prime time games, have a larger fan base, become more well known, and earn significantly more endorsement dollars. In short, large market successful teams would have to pay less for talent than small market unsuccessful teams. The salary cap wouldnt protect the bottom dwellers like buffalo. No draft = unfairness to small markets. This idea would help some unsuccessful large markets, such as the Raiders. I believe that over time (decade ish ), not having a draft would insure that NY, LA, Chic, NE, Dal, and Mia would be the class of the NFL. Buff and other small markets would be devastated, and it would grow worse each year.
  7. Is it possible that I agree with both sides of this argument? No, we should not draft a RB, as we have more pressing needs. However, I also believe people are way over confident in Our RB situation. Spiller is electrifying, but is he an every down back? Freddie, although he's my favorite Bill, is approaching the end of his road. I fear, and expect, that our 3rd Choice will end up starting a few games for us this year. (Usually I'm an optimist, I swear)
  8. Manuel....the more I watch, the more I like him. Ogletree....loved him early, then I realized its really hard to tackle with your head up your #ss. ESPN...the more I watch, the more I realize they aren't reporting news, they are producing reality TV.
  9. I disagree with you also, as I think most will. However, for conversation sake, what system would you suggest for having college players join the NFL? If they were all treated as free agents, wouldn't contenders and large markets have an enormous advantage, especially with a rookie salary cap?
  10. My read is that the new regime feels the defense was the major problem with this team, not QB. I completely agree with them. Is Fitz a lower tier QB? Absolutely. But at the end of the day, the O was putting up points. But because the D was allowing so many points, Fitz had to attempt game winning drives, and we all know how that turned out. Do I love Fitz as or starter? Hell no. But our biggest problem was our D, so the regime is addressing that first. They will have to be active in FA, and draft well, but so far I like the (apparent) plan.
  11. We are all aware of our QB need, and the lack of top-tier QBs in the draft. My question then, if we go somewhere other than QB in the first, who would be your first choice? Please do not turn this into a "it has to be a QB" thread. You must pick someone other than a QB. Make standard assumptions about the first 7 picks. My choice would be Ogletree, even if the Irish Catfish is still on the board. It is my feeling that the D was the number one issue on this team. The Stache had a good amount to do with that, but lack of quality LBs was our Achilles heal. Bring me the best MLB in the draft.
  12. Two guys he was with were charged with Murder, both found not guilty for reasons of self-defense. I gag a little at his antics, but he is not a murderer.
  13. He wasn't acquitted of murder....he wasn't even tried for murder. Facts, find some...
  14. This thread is not a Nassib thread. To me it seems the OP was making some points, that are completely valid. 1...the GMS and scouting personnel(whether successful or not) know considerably more than anyone else about evaluating players, and understanding where they should be drafted. To deny this is complete narcissism. 2...Saying we missed on all-pro players, is to not take into account that who they were drafted by has a huge impact on their success. (Would Watt be an all-pro if he played for the stache? Would McLovin have been an all-pro playing for Lebeau?). Perhaps drafting isn't our problem, player development is. 3...because of 1 and 2, mock drafts are fairly silly. However, the point that I think the OP misses, is that for the fans, the NFL is about entertainment. Discussing who we want, and where we should get them is fun (even when we argue). It's the offseason (for bills fans), and mock drafts allow us to still be entertained by the NFL. And in closing...FU Tom Brady.
