Is Vince Young a wacko or just a player that needs coaching?
macaroni replied to HOUSE's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I haven't judged Thigpen based on preseason performance ... my problem with him is that the coaching staff didn't have the confidance in him to play him the week after the Redskins game ... if your starting QB gets broken ribs you just gotta send out the backup. If the backup can't give the starter a week or two or three to heal what do you need a backup for??? IMHO the #2 spot belongs to VY unless he really poops the bed during training camp or preseason. -
IMHO ... every one of the 53 men on the team should be "under the gun". If the front office finds a player that provides a better chance to win football games than the one currently filling the position, they'd be remiss if they didn't replace them. That being said Sometimes change isn't better, it's just something different .... sometimes it's even worse. It's also my opinion that "change for changes sake" has been a big part of our problem over the last decade. Alot can be said for continuity (I'm not saying we shouldn't change, just saying we should improve rather than just be different). just sayin'

If we had more top 5 players maybe we could call ourself "the dream team" ... just sayin'

Mario Williams asks Bills to line him up at LDE
macaroni replied to Buftex's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The point I was trying to make was that contrary to the OP ... #90 for the Bills was never Mario's ... it belonged to Kelsay, so therefore Kelsay was not "taking" Mario's number, and any talk of #90 switching hands (or uniforms) was the reverse of that. -

First I heard of Kelsey trying to take Mario's number .... the story I remember is that Mario wanted Kelsey's number ... just sayin' -
Taking your kid to a Bills game
macaroni replied to Canadian Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't agree with never taking your son or daughter to an away game ... as long as you pick the right away game. I took my son to a Jags/Bills game a few years back and we were in our full Bills regalia ... there was good natured ribbing back and forth ... but certianly no "bad" behavior towards us. In light of full disclosure ... I think there were more Bills fans in the stadium than Jags fans so maybe they felt they were at an away game in their own stadium ... lol out loud. -
According to Pat Kirwan's book the average height of a starting NFL OT is 6'5" (minimum is 6'3 3/4"), Average weight is 305 (minimum is 280), average 40 time is 5.10 (max is 5.30).

I really would like Floyd at #10 .... However if the Bills do pick Reiff at #10 what does everybody think about packaging our second round pick and a later round pick (I don't have the value chart so I don't know which round) to trade up to the bottom of the first round to get Fleener the Tight end from Stanford?

I am firmly entrenched in the “we desperately” need a Left Tackle crowd … but if either of the top two receivers are there at #10 I will GLADLY take a LT in round 2. -
Front office shenanigans at One Bills Drive
macaroni replied to Just Jack's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Does that even count ..... get it ..... monte cristo .... count .... count of monte cristo .... lol out loud ... sometimes I just kill myself -
I didn't say I "KNEW", I just said it goes against everything he believes in ... his history, and recient comments define Buddy's philosophy as a "more picks are better" kind of guy. Now if I were the Bills GM (and I'm not) I think I would make the trade of swapping our firsts and giving them our third (don't think I'd give them our second though) for Kalil. I just don't see Buddy pulling that trigger.

The Bill Curtain (Williams, Williams, and Dareus)
macaroni replied to southernbill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
How about "past due Bills" God only knows a good Bills defense is wayyyyyyyyyy past due. -
As much as I enjoy and respect Pat & Tim IMHO, a trade up goes against everything Buddy Nix believes in ... a trade down ... maybe, but a trade up .... NEVER!!! As far as drafting Kalil, I sit firmly in the "Our #1 need is a solid OT" camp and would be glad to have him, but would I rather have Kalil and lose our 3rd round pick, or Floyd (who the Vikes took in our #10 spot) and keep our 3rd round pick .... I don't know ... we sure could use a good WR, and a pick is a pick.

My biggest concern is that there doesn't seem to be any "fire in the belly", "Rah Rah" kind of players on the team. When things start to go south on them they don't have anybody going up and down the bench yelling and screaming to fire the team up. We have a bunch of guys who claim they're leaders but just not "vocal leaders" ... I've seen many many times a drive is stalled, or we have a turn over, or we allow a TD, and the players just walk back to the bench and calmly sit there watching the game waiting their next turn on the field. I want to see somebody yelling at the O-line to give the QB better protection .... yelling at a reciever to give better effort ... yelling at the D for more pressure ... Yelling at the running back to hit the hole harder ..... SOMETHING!!!!! ANYTHING!!!! Don't get me wrong I'm not asking for one of those players who is all sizzle and no steak, but I want to see a guy or two or three show some emotion and rally the team.

Mario Williams: Officially a Buffalo Bill
macaroni replied to buffalo_bills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Or worse yet ........ ESPN will be like this... "WE HAVE BREAKING NEWS OUT OF THE NFL...THE PRIZED DEFENSIVE FREE AGENT MARIO WILLIAMS HAS LANDED, IN OF ALL PLACES...BUFFA........ WHOA WHOA WHOA....HOLD THE PHONE... ADAM SHEFTER REPORTS PEYTON MANNING is still trying to make up his mind which team he wants to play for ....Stay tuned to ESPN as we will be doing nothing else but talking about this ALL DAY! -
On one hand we have one of the best players in free agency ... and on the other hand we have a pretty run of the mill wide reciever. We are going to throw gobs and gobs of money at one while we slobber at the chance of signing him ... the other we want on the team to "compliment" our reciever corps. Don't get me wrong I'd love to sign both ... but the conversation around the dinner table is going to be pretty difficult to not insult Meachem if they're trying to entice the players into becoming Bills. Am I the only one who feels this may not be a "let's talk about you joining the Bills dinner" but is really a celebration "welcome to your new home" dinner?

do we have Two thousand yard rushers? Over/Under
macaroni replied to EldaBillsFan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
IMHO ... it would take an average of somewhere in the 25 - 28 running plays per game neighborhood ... not going to happen -

State funding for RWS Stadium improvements?
macaroni replied to major's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
So you are saying to not renovate ... or build new and let the Bills walk? I hear what you're saying ... why should the taxpayers foot the bill ... but the sad fact is that either taxpayers do foot the bill, or the owners move to a local where they will. -
Fitz: Team wasn't ready to be successful
macaroni replied to Beerball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Maybe next year we can worry more about being a good football team and less about growing beards ... cutesy nicknames for the wide recievers ... our TD celebrations ... where we went to school ... and gloating about how we are all seventh round picks and UDFAs. I tumbled to the feeling that the Bills weren't ready for prime time about the same time as everyone seemed to be more concerned with what David Nelson would do for a celebration if he scored a touchdown in Dallas because of his cheerleader girlfriend, and no one seemed concerned about how we could pound Dallas into the dirt. IMHO throughout the year teams develop a personality ... the good teams develop one by winning games in bunches ... the weak teams develop one by promoting Human interest stories. So I guess I agree with Fitz ... until the team gains enough self respect to let their play generate the press and stops thinking they need to be "cute" they are just not ready. -
Dont Be Surprised To See Stevie Sign With...
macaroni replied to BuffaloWest's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I've been following the Bills since they had silver helmets, and I've seen them do some monumentally dumb things over the years .... but if they let S.J. walk it will be the dumbest thing I've ever seen. Everybody needs to settle down ... he's one of the best recievers the Bills have seen in a long LOOOOOOOOONG time, and OBD knows it. Steves problem is he is very immature and Chan etal are treating him as such ... kind of the equivalent of sending your child to his room to "think about" what he or she has done. IMHO OBD will do everything in their power to sign Steve before he officially becomes a free agent ... but they are going to let him feel a bit unloved for a while. Again IMHO, Steve will be a Bill next year unless his salary demands border on the rediculous. -
I may have made a mistake with my vote ... I voted for Freddy, but if your question is really who is better right NOW, I guess it would be C.J. by a slight margin because Freddy has a broken leg

Well the 9 yarder was kinda long ...... compared to his other runs
