  1. under ....... waaaayyyyyyy under
  2. Ding ... ding ..... ding IMHO, It depends on how you designed your team and what roll your defense plays in it. For example years ago when the Rams had the "Best show on turf" and more reciently with the Colts ... the defense is supposed to slow the opponents enough so the offense can score a zillion points. Conversly the Ravens built their defense to totally shut down their opponents so they were able to win a super bowl with Trent Dilfer at QB. I think in todays day and age with free agency and general personnel turnover, the days of being able to amass 53 guys that dominate on both sides of the ball are over, therefore the way us old fogies used to "rank" performance is antiquated.
  3. Huh???? I will always root for the Jests, the dog faced fins, and the cheetreats to loose starting from day one and continue throughout the season. I can't help it ... playoffs or no playoffs for my Bills, I hate the other teams in the division and want them humiliated every week against every oponent!!!! As far as the playoff are concerned, I cheer for the Bills to win every game, and hope they do. If they win every game from here on out I guess that would put us in the playoffs, but deep in my heart I don't think this team is ready for "prime time" just yet, we are just too inconsistant and have holes in our game. We can't generate a pass rush, we can't man cover a decient reciever, we can't stonewall the opponents run game, except for Fred-ex we don't have any big play abilities, we can't stretch the field with a deep threat reciever, and we have injuries up the wazoo. All these issues may be inter related, or we may be a draft/free agency period or two away from getting the talent to play like the big boys. Bottom line is ... the Bills are the good guys, other teams in the division are the bad guys, regardless of playoff implecations we should always root for good to triumph over evil, if that puts us in the playoffs so be it ... worry about that when the time comes
  4. Actually he IS worth his contract numbers .... he may not be a franchise QB (I must admit I don't know what that phrase means) ... but he didn't get a franchise contract. His contract numbers are about mid pack, and I think even you would admit he is at least a mid pack QB.
  5. Actually Levitre spent quite a bit of time this game on his butt. He's done well the last few games, I think he's a great OG and a passable OT, but he was horrendous this game.
  6. I'm here .... we can't cover their wide recievers ... we can't stop the run ... we can't cover a tight end ... we can't stop any 3rd down play ... we can't pressure the QB and you want to blame Fitz???????? whats up wit dat
  7. The real bottom line is ... It's mid November and we Bills fans are trying to calculate our chances for a play off spot, and none of calculations involve a half dozen teams dying in plane crashes, earthquakes, volcanos, tornados, and blizzards. This is the first year I can honestly say I've enjoyed watching football each and every week for a long LONG time. Last year we were what, something like 4-12, and this year we are talking about realistic chances for the play offs half way through the season? I love the way this team is headed, I love the teams attitude, I love me some Bills!!!
  8. Hey Billsfreak ....... is that you ICE???
  9. Everybody seems to be worried about Revis taking our #1 reciever out of the game ... but the converse is also true ... our #1 reciever can take Revis out of the game. We don't have a true #1 reciever ... I don't mean to dis Stevie ... but he isn't the "mega-talent" WR that we've built our Offense around ... he's good no doubt ... but his reputation is built as much on his personality as his skill. While some teams ability to pass the ball pretty much depends on one or two guys getting open, the Bills ability to pass, is spread over quite a number of guys flooding the field, Chans ability to draw up plays to get someone open, and Fitz's ability to make good snap decisions. IMHO, we can hurt a team equally well with Jones, Nelson, Roosevelt, and Chandler (with Freddy and C.J. lining up at WR occasionally to add some spice). Revis wants to shadow Stevie and shut him down .... have at it .... and let our other guys run amuck without worrying about Revis.
  10. OK, if I were Chan (and I'm not) I come out with a 5 wide set ... I put Johnson and Jones split left hoping I either draw both Revis and Cro to that side, or Revis and some type of double team to that side of the field. I put Nelson in the slot, with Chandler and Freddy out right. If I see the Jests showing me six or seven rushers PRESNAP, I rotate either Freddy, Chandler, or Nelson (a good blocking WR) back into the backfield, at the snap if the defenders start to backpeddle out of blitz formation, let the extra blocker slip out wide to the left as an outlet (Stevie and Jones should have cleared that area), and chose either whoever doesn't "pull" Revis on the left, who ever beats their coverage on the right, or back to the outlet on the left. I think Revis and Cro are the best cover tandem in the league ... but I think we can overwhelm their coverage with shear numbers of capable WRs, and formations.
  11. IMHO; on Offense C.J. SHOULD have a break out game. The Jets are pretty stout at stopping the inside run, their major weakness this year has been sealing the edges. As much as I hate the idea of taking away touches from Freddy, this may be the time we try and use C.J.'s speed on the sweeps and flair passes. (then again I thought last week would be big for C.J. too, so who knows). Also IMHO, the Jests have the best two cover guys in the league with Revis & Cro ... and I see them pretty much netralizing Stevie and Donald ... I see their next best guy (or a scheme rotating coverage) used on Chandler. Buffalo's "aces in the hole" are Nelson and Roosevelt, they don't get the hype or press, but I think they are pretty darn good when called on, I see a big game from one or both of these guys. on Defense I think Dareus has trouble collapsing the pocket this week (Mangold is a manamal), but I think Dareus helps in taking away their run game (it won't show in the stats, and won't be as much fun as 2.5 sacks, but he will play a good game). The Jests QB is "streaky", he's been playing well lately, but if we take away his run game, and fluster him early it could very well ruin his game. This is where the 12th man comes in ... if the fans at the Ralph are half as geeked as I will be in my living room he will be wetting himself during warmups. It also seems the Jests tend to turn over the ball a bit when they are "pressing", and for some reason this year we seem to be able to create turnovers, so this just may turn into a multipal turnover game. There you have it ... my gameplan if I were Chan (and I'm not) Sweeps and flair passes to get the ball to the edge, and a healthy dose of Nelson and/or Roosevelt with just enough attention to Steve and Donald to "keep the honest". Throw up a brick wall to defend against the run, traumatize Shanchez, and let the turnovers begin.
  12. I don't like it either ...... to Green Bay Packer"esk" How about Scott "don't call me Bobby" Chandler Being an old fogey I have a hard time calling him Scott instead of Bobby.
  13. LOL out loud ..... lordy lordy I didn't mean to compare what we are doing now to what we were trying to do then ... I always felt that the Jauron/Edwards "plan" was to asess whether a WR was open or not while the play unfolded and throw the ball downfield, but Trent always bailed on the long option, then bailed on the middle option, then either got sacked, flushed out of the pocket, or dumped the ball off behind the LOS. I think the Chan/Fitz plan is to asess their best option pre snap and then chuck the old pumpkin assuming the reciever will make the play, the only hitch is that the routes are predomitly middle to short routs which enable the reciever to give the defender his "best" move while also allowing Fitz to get the ball out quickly.
  14. not to be a negative nancy but ... how much of the O-lines sucess can be attributed to the decision to abandon the down field pass (or at least severly limit it). Our bread and butter air game seems to be the quick hitting short stuff, we do just enough to make the other team respect our willingness to throw long but it is not something we rely on. Getting rid of Lee Evens should have been a clue as to the direction we were going. I don't mean to say this philosophy is bad ... or even the wrong way to go ... I just think it was a decision made by the coaching staff to "help" our O-line, and play to the strenghts of Fitz's ability to make a quick decision and get rid of the ball.
  15. Maybe I'm just not as astute as the rest of the football public ... but it seems to me that if your 1st string LT gets hurt you replace him with the 2nd string LT ... and when he goes down, he gets replaced with the third string LT. While I do agree he is normally the 1st string LG .... he is still the third string LT.
  16. And think how many more sacks we would have gotten if the Skins were playing their third string LT and second string LG.
  17. I just don't get the mind set of discounting our wins ... were the redskins hurting? sure they were, every team in the NFL are hurting. We won this game with two of our starting wide recievers out (we started a running back as a wideout for gods sake), our starting LT and our second string LT out, our starting LG moved to LT and our second string LG playing. We have a starting OLB on IR, the starting OLB on the other side has just returned from a multi week injury so therefore wasn't 100%, our starting NT was out, his backup is fighting a cronic back problem so we started our rookie DE as a NT and just kind of mixed and matched were appropriate. I guess what I'm trying to say is a win is a win .... no excuses ... no if, ands, or buts. Our coaching staff out coached their coaching staff, and our players beat their players man for man ... now on to the Jets ... I can't wait to hear their lame excuses as to why we beat them.
  18. The bartender looks up and says "what is this some kind of joke"?
  19. I have a funny feeling that we are going to see a new star born Sunday .... IMHO using Spiller at WR last game was an experiment born out of necessity, we were slim at the "speed" WR spot, and you can't take away touches from Jackson to get Spiller jump started as a running back. I really don't think they had "special plays" to highlight Spillers talents, they just kind of taught him a few routes and threw him in. I think the experiment went well, Spiller didn't make a fuss about playing "out of position" (by all accounts he embraced doing whatever it took to help the team), and he made a few catches proving he can play the position at least at a rudimentry level. Chan the "Mega-mind" has now had two weeks to figure out exactly how to use him as a WR, and a "game breaking" type of running back's stock in trade is that if the team can block 8, 9, or 10 of the opponents the running back will make the rest miss the tackle. If Spiller is as good as the front office thought he was when they drafted him he should be "killer" once he gets behind the defense and gets the ball in his hands. Because he has the speed the defenders HAVE to repect it and cover him deep, but unlike most "speed recievers" they also have to respect his ability to take the short pass through traffic to the end zone. I see C.J. being a nightmare to cover. I must admit, I've hated the Spiller pick from day one, I felt that with Lynch and Jackson in the backfield, picking a running back no matter how talented, was a luxury we couldn't afford because we had sooooooooo many holes at other positions, but this just may work out afterall.
  20. Maybe George Edwards isn't paper trained ...... ever think of that???
  21. actually ... no it wasn't. If it isn't called a penalty didn't happen. Now if we want to fault the officiating for missing a call, I'm all for it. But vilifying a player for making a play and then defending that play to a "talking head" that (IMHO) was being overly obnoxious about it is more than a little silly. Don't get me wrong, Revis is a Jet therefore I don't like him, just as any player on the Jets, Dolphins, or Pats* ... but in this instance he was right.
  22. Interesting .... nobody mentions Jason Peters or Pat Williams.
  23. but can he sustain this level of play?????
  24. IMHO he is twice as good as any running back we've had in a while and therefore deserves two nicknames, so in keeping with the truth in advertising laws, I thereby propose "Moderatly Fast Freddy Action Jackson"
  25. .......... CAUTION .......... Some goal posts look wider viewed through a mirror
