Interesting Rumor on BB.com Message Board
macaroni replied to coastalpika's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I can tell them all they need about the defense the Packers will send against them ..... They will put eight in the box ... they will pressure the QB using only 3 rushers, the other 5 will clog up the running lanes ... they'll double Evans when they feel it's necessary, and take their chances single covering our other "play makers" ... see simple ... even I can game plan to beat the Bills. -
Did the Cowboys really just do a play that stupid?
macaroni replied to Steely Dan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If Wade wore headphones he would have known that play was being called and could have put the kebash on it ..... I keed ... I keed -
If we can deduce that Trent sucks behind this O-line then I propose Spiller sucks also.

Sunday Morning Miami Herald
macaroni replied to Another Point of View's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Sheesh another a$$hat .... I'll give you a hint 1. read the title of the thread 2. read the posters name This isn't rocket surgery ... no need to spoon feed those of us too lazy to click a link to read an article -
Draz, I for one enjoyed the idea of the thread. Pay no mind to posters like Brenty, it seems like lately there has been a competition for a$$hat of the year between some of the posters here at TBD. Brenty, if you really want to end the year hoisting the a$$hat trophy you have to start trying to offend someone with a bit more "juice" than someone with a handful of posts who is just trying to start a fun thread.

How about; It's hard to win in the NFL Oh wait ... wrong coach ... never mind

At the Stadium or at Home?
macaroni replied to FightinIrishBills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Last year I had the pleasure of taking my son to his first live game ... problem is we live down here in Florida so we attended the Bills Jax game. Now I've heard of the problem the Jags have with filling their stadium with fans ... but I swear ... I thought we were at a Bills home game, I would hazard a guess there was as many Bills fans as there were Jags fans at the game. Behind where we parked the car was a GIANT tailgate party, funny thing was everybody was decked out in red, white, and blue (and darker blue, and silver or gray or whatever that other color is), Pinto Ron was even in attendance, it was just crazy. The only real down side (besides the Bills losing the game) is that prior to attending that game my son liked the Bills because they were MY team and that gave us something in common ... but after the experiance he LOVES the Bills ... he has caught the fever and I've doomed him into the life of a Bills fan just as my father doomed me. OH well ... it's all good. SQUISH THE FISH!!! -
I'm as excited as the next guy to see what C.J. can do ..... but wouldn't it be prudent to actually wait until he does something before we start coordinating a stadium wide chant??? He could be great He should be great but at this point he is just another rookie running back playing behind a weak O-line. just sayin'

To be considered a good team we have to consistantly beat the good teams (and the Pat*s have been the cream of the crop of late) so I want to sweep them. Because I'm an old school fan, my hate of the Dolphins runs deep, so I want to sweep them. Because I HATE that snake in the grass Rex Ryan I want to wipe that schmarmy grin off his face, and because I hate the media's overhyping the Jets, I want to sweep them. Bottom line .... I'm a Bills fan ... it's three days before the home opener ... we're tied for the best record in the NFL at this point of the season ... my blood is pumping red, white, and blue (and darker blue, and gray or silver or whatever that other color is) ... I want my football!!!! GO BILLS sweep all three of those SOBs

As much as I hate Sully's style (or lack there of) I think I have to agree with him this time. If having your team run by a "marketing guy" instead of a "football guy" If bringing in a big "name" player because he can put butts in the seats instead of improve the team, If trading away your starting left tackle in the off season, If trying to fit the square peg of the (servicable) Right tackle into the round hole of the left tackle position and then cutting him days before the start of the season because the "experiment" didn't work, If firing your OC a week before the season, and replacing him with a guy who is an inexperianced even as a QB coach, If having a coach (who bye the way is enjoying a new contract extension)incapable of making game time adjustments Isn't hitting rock bottom I don't know what is. IMHO, somebody (Ralph???) realized we were going about this all wrong last year and decided to clean house and start anew. I don't think "hitting rock bottom" can necessarily be tied to won/loss numbers ... I think it's tied to the realization the organization is just too "honked up" to be sucessful.

Have you seen him run a pass patern lately??? He's slow, sloppy cuts, and has no vertical leap .... and he has arthritic hands of stone
-
I can kind of see what they are talking about ... 1. making a touch down is a big play for the offense 2. stopping them from making a touch down is a big play for the defense therefore; The only way we win is if we make touch downs, and prevent them from making touchdowns!!! Shoot this is easy .... I could be a football expert too

As far as Brown goes ... think back to how he's been handled this entire off season ... extreamly limited snaps during practice, and as far as preseason goes he's had pretty limited exposure and even at that he's played with the 3rd, 4th, stringers. Did you also notice that it seemed every time he was put into the game it was in a situation almost designed for him to fail. Last night was a perfect example, they put him in when we have the ball on our ... what was it ... one or two yard line? I just get the feeling the brain trust at OBD want to keep the three headed monster of Edwards, Fitz, and Brohm for this season ... but also sneak Brown onto the Practice Squad ... and what a better way to do it than to "showcase" to the rest of the NFL that Brown just doesn't have it. Just my opinion ... nothing more

I WAS WRONG ABOUT THE SPILLER PICK!!!

Pretty difficult making over 2000 yards as part of a three running back platoon .... (just sayin') -
I WAS WRONG ABOUT THE SPILLER PICK!!!
macaroni replied to John Cocktosten's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Don't take this as an attempt to "enlighten you" ... it's just my opinion; While I think you are correct in that C. J. has the potential to score every time he touches the ball, I think you have already convinced yourself that he WILL score every time he touches the ball (or at least a magority of the time). To my way of thinking he also has the potential of losing 2, 5, 10 yards every time he touches the ball, it's not a reflection on what I think his abilities are ... it's a reflection on the rest of the teams abilities. To my way of thinking he has a greater real world potential to more often kill a drive (or at least make it more difficult) than he does of scoring every time he touches the ball. Only time will tell which is true .... and that time is getting closer and closer every day .... GO BILLS!!! -
I guess that is the point of my question, I threw it out there so some of us could maybe reflect on our motives and what exactly we are looking for in a "fan site". Even though I've been a fan for longer than some of the posters have been alive, I've learned quite a bit about the Bills and football in general from some of you people. My vision of the perfect "fan site" is where people discuss pros and cons, debate possibilities, predict & debate outcomes of seasons/games/drfts, and teach & support each other in this crazy thing we call being a Bills fan. I'm not so nieave as to think no one could post something that would or could offend some other poster .... I've said things in posts that I've regreted, some mostly unintentional, and THAT MISCOMMUNICATION IMHO in the nature of the internet. Unfortunatly, some of us have a vision of the perfect "fan site" as one where you can rely on the cloak anonymity to play the "big bad guy" and pi$$ on someone elses thoughts or opinions with the misguided philosophy that because the internet allows one to be an a$$hat that they should be an a$$hat.

Really ... why not take what the man says at face value ... if he says he played for the Bills, that's fine with me. It's not worth the effort to try to research, it's not worth the time to even say BS ... he said he played for the Bills that's good enough for me. I'm sure he understands that being an ex-Bill doesn't give him special privledges on TBD, if he was looking for "special treatment" he would have declared himself a Bills player on his first post ... and IMHO ... we then should have afforded him some type of "professional curtesy" by being a little circumspect with our opinions tword him and his team mates. This string has started me thinking ... what if a few players and/or coaches signed in, identified themselves and said they we would like to participate in the boards discussions about football and the team but we had to understand they did not want to hear trash talking, and there were some questions that they wouldn't address such as injury status, future game plans, trade/draft plans etc. Could we be adult enough to not spoil the relationship?

I WAS WRONG ABOUT THE SPILLER PICK!!!
macaroni replied to John Cocktosten's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I see your point ... I guess my main problem with the pick is that a RB has such a short career on average, I'd hate to see C.J. burned out and done before we get a line to block for him. I just have these reoccuring nightmares of him dancing around in the backfield as the entire defense pours in through our line. I know ... I know ... I gotta believe .... I gotta believe ... I gotta believe -
I WAS WRONG ABOUT THE SPILLER PICK!!!
macaroni replied to John Cocktosten's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I didn't like the pick then ... and I don't like the pick now. Don't take this wrong ... I absolutly love the player ... but that pick for this team at this time is bad. It's bad for the fact that the Bills didn't seem to have a "plan" ... the pick was purly a luxury pick when we needed a "foundational" pick. If let's say the Bills were on the verge of pulling the trigger on a trade for one of our starting RBs (either one, Lynch or Jackson) for an extra pick or two .... then yeah it would have been a GREAT pick. But what we did was add a running back into an already talented full backfield of a team devoid of talent in a number of areas .... did we need linemen (on both sides of the ball)? heck yeah ... did we need linebackers? heck yeah ... did we need wide recievers? heck yeah ... did we need a Tight End? heck yeah. I understand all the hype of C.J. being a "home run hitter", but this team needs more guys capable of hitting singles before we worry about the home runs. That being said ... he is a fun player to watch ... and he's much MUCH more fun to watch in our uniform than he would be in a Pats*, Jets, or Dolphins uni. -
Well Mr. Hard ..... or can I call you Die? I'm sorry to see you go, in my opinion the board suffers anytime one of the "good guys" stops posting. As far as you being an ex-Bill or not, it doesn't matter to me one way or another, but if you in fact are, it's a sad commentary on the general "friendliness" of this board ... and internet forums in general I guess ... that you feel uncomfortable posting your name. Not that I disagree with you ... if I were in your position I'd feel the same. I just can't figure out why an ex-player, current player, coach, or front office person couldn't openly post on a team fan site without all the vitrol that he'd have to suffer ... but it's a sad fact of life I guess .... oh well.

Random thoughts and observations on the game
macaroni replied to Kelly the Dog's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I didn't get to see the game, I just listened on the radio so maybe my observations are out to lunch ... but ... It seemed to me our offensive success seemed to come from a solid game plan ... efficient execution ... and enough self confidence to not give up on a series because of one bad play. Over the last 10 years we may have scored if we got a freak play maybe a bomb for a TD .... a kick/punt return deep into the opponents territory ... interception/ fumble deep in our opponents territory etc. We couldn't consistantly convert 3rd downs, we couldn't consistantly "move the chains", and what drove me crazy the most was if we had a bad play/penalty early in the series it almost seemed we were just trying to get to 4th down so we could punt. Granted yesterday was only preseason, but, a few times we were faced with second and over 10 yards and converted, it seemed the team had confidence and just knew to keep working and everything will work out, they ground out first down after first down, and most importantly ... when they got it into the red zone they played for the TD instead of settling for the FG. I have a feeling it's going to be fun watching the offence develop this year. I have no idea what the heck is going on with the D .... did they really play a formation with 6dbs, 4D-linemen, and 1LB on first and second downs or were the announcers all honked up???? -
Let me get this straight; they're going to bench Spiller?
macaroni replied to eschej13's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Listening to the game last night I was discussing this with my son who is a gigantic Spiller fan, and vehimently disagreed with me when I said Spiller should be the second or third Bills RB to see the field. He thought (like the OP) that Spiller should be the starting RB. What converted him to my way of thinking was I mentioned if this is what he can do against a defense with "fresh" legs .... imagine what he could do if he was "fresh" and the defense was bashed for a quarter or two by Jackson/Lynch/Bell. I'm not saying Spiller deserves to be second/third string based on ability ... I'm just saying we have four good running backs that are capable of starting, and of the four Spiller has the best chance of being an "electric" game controlling RB running against a defense that has been worn down a half step, but carrying the lions share of the load may be difficult because of his physical build. -
Be honest, how many plan on Booing Edwards?
macaroni replied to DIE HARD 1967's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
In my 50 years of Bills fandom I can't ever remember booing any of my players and I'm not about to start now. Don't get me wrong there have been many MANY shoulder slumping, exasperated head shakes, under my breath mumbled curses .... but never a boo for the boys in red white and blue. I perfer to save my booing for the other team.
