  1. That's why I said ... "if the NCAA allows it's dirty laundry to be aired" IMHO .... just about every major college football/basketball program is "dirty" to some extent as far as the rules go. There is just too much money at stake (not to mention careers).
  2. Ding .... Ding ..... Ding I think you may be right, it doesn't seem to me that after you are bounced out of a school (no matter how much they want to say he quit) that one suddenly gets the bright idea to charge another school for your services. I'm guessing Urban paid BIG for Mr. Newton's services, and Cam will be just the tip of the ice berg as far as college sports "payola" goes once the investigation gets into full swing (if the NCAA allows the dirty laundry to surface).
  3. Ever hear of a guy named O. J. Simpson???? Just sayin'
  4. That's kind of my thought process ..... we beat the Vikes, and all of those "mystery" injuries Bret has been playing through all season will become just too much to bear .... and OH yeah .... the Vikes are out of the playoff picture (largely because Bret is washed up) so he fades into the sunset to avoid getting boo'd at home. but it would be uber cool if Maybin laid a hit on him that puts him out too ..... nahhhhh .... I can't wish for an injury, that's pretty low class .... but it would be funny to see our bust busting up a future hall of famer.
  5. How about ..... willie it kind of goes with our "wood, wang" motif
  6. I predict that not only do we win .... but we get the pleasure of watching lord Farve's last game in the NFL
  7. Hey ..... I've heard of him ...... GET ER DONE BUDDY!!!!!!! oh wait .... I remember where I've heard of him ......... never mind
  8. Now they'll find out our strategy of having the O-linemen fall down on their backs hoping the opposing D-linemen injure themselfs tripping over them.
  9. IMHO ... I don't think we pick up Luck if he comes out eary. I don't think the brain trust at OBD values underclassmen too highly. I'm not saying he isn't the best QB out there, I don't follow college ball enough to tell the difference between the front runners, but I seem to remember Buddy saying at the beginning he looks for continued sucess over an entire college career and didn't like drafting underclassmen.
  10. I'm one of the people who think he was right (or at least within his rights) to ask for more money .... and think the Bills treated him unfairly ... and feel he made the right decision to leave once all the cards were played. However .... he left ... good bye ... thanks for the memories, my concerns are now with who wears the red, white, blue, and darker blue, and silver or whatever that other color is.
  11. No ... I don't think you are wrong, that's how I remember him too. Great guy .... OK QB ... horrible team. It will never be known if he took too much responsibility on his own shoulders for the failures of the team therfore crushing his confidance or not ...
  12. Instead of obsessing over a player who is no longer here, why aren't you worring about who our "steller" OTs are going up against this week??? just sayin' it is a Bills forum after all.
  13. IMHO ... The best way to solve the problem of player movement ... and prevent the "angst" of the does he want to be here or doesn't he BS ... and to promote league parity from season to season is for the league to; make all contracts for one year keep a hard salary cap all contract money is guaranteed no hidden money (bonuses, incentives, etc) no team limits on the number of players it can carry
  14. Maybe you forgot ... It's hard to win in the NFL
  15. Actually, If I were a football player (and I'm not) I'd much rather play in Buffalo's cold for the last few games of the season than Miami's, Jacksonville's, Tampa Bay's, New Orleans' heat and humidity for the majority of the season (N.O. may get a pass because of their dome ... but do they practice in the dome???). As far as Texas, 'Zona, and Carolina, I can't comment on their weather because I've never lived there ... but my assumptions are they are hot as heck there too. As an aside ... my son and I attended a game in Jax (in Sept) and we thought we were gonna die ... I'll bet I spent $75 dollars on bottled water ... I will never understand how the players play in the heat like that.
  16. IMHO Edwards getting fired or not depends on who made the decision to switch to the 3-4 before we had the people to support it. If Chan forced the 3-4 on Edwards with the intent that the team will "grow into" the 3-4 over time .... then he stays If Edwards talked Chan into switching because he thought we could do better in the 3-4 ... then he's gone after the season (without some significant improvement at the end of the season).
  17. IMHO ... #1 priority is to get him in the line up and productive, THEN we worry about making a deal attractive enough to persuade him to stay and be a part of the rebuilding process. He is young enough that he could reap the benifits once the team is rebuilt. It's not like he's an aged vet who has one or two years left in the tank and will never be a part of a "good" Buffalo Bills team. It's always been my opinion that we need to welcome those players who are willing to work hard to be a part of the rebuilding process ... if they can't (or won't) accept the challenge, then no matter how good they are, we don't need them in Buffalo. I may be naive, but I think the fan support, the excitement of being a part of something good, and the great community of western NY, can become infectious and make being a part of this team worthwile.
  18. I think the point he is trying to make is that by picking up Marriman we very may be preparing to cut Maybin.
  19. The way I look at it is; Pick one to be your starting OLB; Kelsey Maybin Marriman Thought so...
  20. IMHO ... I see a little bit of Trent Edwards in Cutler ... he seems to hold on to the ball a bit too long waiting for his reciever to get open therefore making his line look worse than they really are. I also see a bit of Jim Kelly in Fitz ... he is determined to get the ball to the reciever no matter what ... he'll throw threw a brick wall if necessary ... make a dumb play here and there ... but the ball is getting out of his hands NOW and he allows his reciever to make a play. I'm not saying Cutler is as bad as Trent, or Fitz is as good as Jim ... but I'm just sayin' I'll take Fitz
  21. +1 If fitz proves to be an average QB (a level far below what he is playing at this time) it gives us the opportunity to upgrade the positions where we are woefully below average. That's not to say we shouldn't draft the next Payton Manning if one should become apparent .... it just means we don't have to crown the top QB in the draft as a sure fire winner and reach for him.
  22. If 7-9 is OK it doesn't matter if we have every top 10 picks in the next 5 drafts, we'll never be better than a 7-9 team.
  23. While I agree running the ball out in this situation may have been a bad idea (especially since we now know the outcome), you don't differenciate between the end of the game, and the end of the half ... big differece IMHO ... but even acknowledging it was a bad move, I'm OK with it. To kneel down for a touchback would signal to me we were "playing not to lose" instead of playing to win. Running that ball out of the end zone showed me that the team was trying to put a dagger into the Ravens heart and were fighting to increase their lead going into halftime. A not-so-wise man once said, "it's hard to win in the NFL", and had his team always playing it safe. It seems to me Chan is telling us by his actions "we are going to fight and scratch until we win in the NFL". What I'm trying to say is .... end of the game with 58 seconds to go, leading by 10, by all means kneel and take the touchback to ice the win .... at the end of the 1st half with 58 seconds to go is enough time to fight for at least another field goal ... go for it!!!!
  24. IMHO .... I've never felt a team NEEDS a "franchise" QB of the Manning, Brees, Rivers ilk .... it would be nice for sure ... but it's not an absolute need. A good team should do just fine with a "good" QB and a good supporting cast (defense & special teams). Trent Dilfer went to the freakin' super bowl for gods sake. Also IMHO sometimes a team hurts itself trying to reach for that franchise QB when he's really not there at the detriment of filling other glowing needs within the team. I'm not an astute enough fan to know if Fitz will be a bad, good, or great QB in the future (and the posters who just KNOW he is no better than a back-up make me laugh)... but he sure looks good enough lately to allow us to direct our draft picks to defensive players, unless one of those once in a lifetime can't miss QBs fall into our lap.
  25. Thanks everybody! I think my problem was confusing the "spread offense" with running the "spread option". I kept seeing NFL teams running what I thought was the spread offense ... then reading this or that player shouldn't be drafted because his college team runs the spread (thinking offense) when they were saying option.
