  1. You seem to have the mentality of a spoiled fan....or you're related to Michael Vick. If you were the hiring manager of at any company, would you hire a convicted gambler that stole money from his/her friends? Just because they're released from prison doesn't necessarily mean the convicted felon is trustworthy. These guys need to re-earn the trust of the public before they get a job that earns them more than you or I.
  2. I always wonder when people say this...is there some formula I'm not aware that determines whether or not a convicted felon has "served his time" or "paid his debt to society"? Saying that it's unfair if Goodell doesn't reinstate him is a bit misguided, IMO. Playing in the NFL is a privilege, which Michael Vick lost once he committed this crime. He may not need to do much more to "pay his societal debt", but allowing him to come back to a "job" that makes him millions more than anyone who has not committed a crime is giving him awful lot to me.
  3. Regardless of intent (which I still believe existed), he's a decent-to-good DT that does not deserve to be anywhere near Haynesworth-type money. Saying he's a *great* tackle is a bit much, IMO.
  4. Having two quality starting QBs on a team is like having a BMW & Mercedes in your garage at all times. You primarily drive the BMW, yet you're paying through the nose to have the Mercedes sit in the garage all the time. Someone like Jeff Garcia will want to start. I don't know how much he'd complain about not starting, but you just can't expect a starter-quality QB to sit on the bench and be happy about it.
  5. Why not? Wasn't it pretty clear that the pass rush was beyond pathetic w/o Schobel? Why not bring in a proven pass rusher and see what he can do? I see a lot of people saying that Vick has done his time and it's time for him to return, but who's to decide how much time one should serve for his crime? Is 2 years enough? I don't think any of us are qualified to answer that. As for the Bills bringing him in, that's going too far. TO is one thing...he may be a self-righteous, arrogant dirtbag, but at least he didn't serve jail time. If Brandon is smart, he'll realize that bringing in Vick might turn away some of the fans that were brought back by the TO signing.
  6. Are the "draft experts" THAT bored already? Sheesh.
  7. I'd have to agree here. We may be in trouble for the first few games while they get themselves used to the positions and figuring themselves out. Let's hope they can figure out pretty quick.
  8. Bingo...Everett was injured as he was trying to tackle the kick returner. The wedge had already been busted by the time he got there.
  9. Not to mention owners who are trying to protect their players from getting injured and forcing them to pay said players for being on IR.
  10. I heard Golic and other analysts say the same thing last year and I completely buy into it. I'm the same way with golf...I'm a 4 handicap and love playing the game, but as I eek into my late 30s, I'll start to end my season earlier. But come January, I'm ready to play again. I actually don't think it's that bad of an analogy, since I said the same thing to myself years ago....then I met my eventual wife. But the problem here is that Favre's indecisiveness isn't just affecting him. Last summer, it clearly affected the Packers, then the entire NFL, then the Jets....not to mention the Packers' fans and us who watch Sportscenter for actual scores & highlights. Now it's affecting the Vikings and their entire team, especially the Vikes' QB depth. The guy who would be Minnesota's 3rd QB would now be out of a job. This guy could now decide to go use his college degree and get a real job and never live his dream of possibly playing in the NFL...just because Favre wants to stick it to Thompson and prove he can still be an elite QB.
  11. This isn't like the NHL that needs publicity or any more fan support. The NFL has plenty of it already. It's only sickening because E$PN will be all over it. I loved Brett through his Green Bay career and even bought a Favre jersey. But the whole soap opera of last summer just made it too much for me. He has done this every year for the past 5 or whatever. All he'd been doing was taking up a roster spot that could have been occupied by a new QB just because of who he was. He's 39...if he can still play, then just do it and stop hemming & hawing every April-May.
  12. Linky dinky
  13. I think this is the one of the top reasons it probably won't happen. The 1:00 games being played there are night games for them. With the networks' yen for everything in prime time these days, I really don't think Fox/CBS/NBC will want a 10:00am PST Superbowl. The logistics of doing this would be a nightmare - imagine all of the corporations that wouldn't buy tickets (if they could, of course) because they can't send people overseas to watch the game, not to mention the fans who would get tickets that won't go, or the locals who don't care.
  14. Ditto on this. I'm happy with the first few picks, but I didn't see the need to stock up on CBs. Perhaps, as others have said, those CBs could turn into safeties, but it just smacks of another Jauron-type of draft. We'll see what happens when Maybin (who I think is very much like a Dwight Freeney) and Schobel are on the field together.
  15. Also agree. I'm not terribly convinced about Andre Smith, either. Seems like he's got issues off the field to me. We have enough of that these days.
  16. I don't have much of an issue with the trade....I just wish it never came to this. To me, the blame should be spread equally between Peters and the FO. If he had gotten his arse into camp on time, he would have been rewarded. I wish the FO would've held out for more, instead they settled on a couple of picks.
  17. Not technically, though it's about a 30-35 minute drive from Syracuse. For all intents & purposes, it's a Syracuse suburb.
  18. How much a rookie gets paid should really be up to the team...knowing full well the guy hasn't played a down of professional football. If you want to pay someone with no experience millions per year, so be it. Stupid, if you ask me, but so be it.
  19. This is a tough one for me. The arrogant label definitely fits him, but apparently so does the "stupid" and "immature" labels (saying "I have a stronger arm than John Elway" to the entire Denver fan base). I think he could have done a better job of being professional about the whole trade thing, even though I don't really blame him to a degree for being upset. I'd honestly rather stick with Trent than give up a few players and/or draft picks for Cutler.
  20. According to the MSNBC article, the wife did make it inside before her mother passed away. She just ran from the car, even though the jerk cop told her to stay inside the car. Moats stayed until the citation was done, but he didn't get into the hospital until afterwards.
  21. NFL has gone too far. Jim Kelly would've never liked this rule.
  22. Correct....we should expect nothing less from the media. Even if TO is on his best behavior all year long, ESPN will still have their cameras pointed at Orchard Park. This is only the beginning, folks.
  23. Where's the spell checker when you need it?
  24. Not only stagnant, but I thought they were actually declining.
  25. Don't get too uptight about it just yet....I can't stand the guy's antics or attitude, either, but once you realize that it's a pure marketing move that is somewhat low-risk, you'll get over it. Yes, they need to better the OL. Yes, they need a DE. Yes, they need a tight end. Yes, they could use an OLB. There's still time during the offseason - the draft hasn't even happened yet, so who knows what players they can get or what trades could be made leading up to draft day. I'm not rushing to pre-order my TO jersey and there's a snowball's chance in Miami that I actually will. But let's see what he can do and how the offense can be improved. I'm cautiously optimistic, but if he pulls any stupid stunts, he can be dumped w/o much penalty and his career may very well be over.
