  1. The thing with Garcia is that he'll want to play, so I'm thinking the Eagles think McNabb is in worse shape than they're letting on.
  2. Hit Brady, period.
  3. I think the schedule should be more of a guide than anything else. You can get an idea of the difficulty based on the previous year's record, what players the teams added & lost, etc., but it's not an all-knowing indicator of exactly how the Bills will do. It became pretty obvious a year ago that the only "quality" win of the 5-1 start was against San Diego, and they were an 8-8 team at the end of it all. But I'll stand behind Lt Dan - you only know how difficult the schedule was at the end of the season.
  4. While not disagreeing with this, I will guarantee that these comments will be completely blown out of proportion.
  5. Agreed. In addition, when Turk didn't want to do what Jauron's telling him to do - and also voices this to the players - what kind of position does this put the players in? I'd hate to be Edwards, Evans, & TO in these meetings. I'm in no way suggesting this happened, but it almost makes me want to think that Schonert was telling the offense to tank the plays so he can "prove" to Jauron that what he wants won't work.
  6. Right now.... Patriots* Cowboys Dolphins Once New England's* run stops, I'll hate them less. I'll always hate Dallas for a handful of reasons - one because I had an old boss who's a Dallas fan and ribbed me every day for almost 3 years about my team's allegiance, two because of Jerry Jones and Jimmy Johnson, and three because of the Super Bowls. The Fins are up there because the 0 for '70s still haunts us. I don't think many people outside of WNY consider the Dolphins to be the Bills' traditional rival.
  7. Completely disagree. I think Wade's on the hot seat and Garrett will be the HC once Wade is gone. Garrett is a Jerry Jones guy - Jones hired him to be OC, not Wade. If Dallas' offense can play well, but they still don't make the playoffs (or lose in round 1), then Garrett's the new HC.
  8. Garrett also played more during Aikman's tenure. AVP rarely subbed for Kelly while he was around. The only time I remember is during the playoff game in Pittsburgh after the 1995 season, though there may have been a few other instances. We're not going to know anything for a while. As you said, AVP has a whopping whole week to do something about this mess, so we won't see much this week. You really can't expect to build and install an offense effectively in a short period of time, especially during the regular season. What I'd do if I was Alex is to find out what the offense understands best, then build plays off of that...and throw away the rest of the play book. The thing with Garrett is that once he was hired, it seemed obvious (IMO) that Jones wanted him to be the HC. I'm mildly surprised that Wade wasn't let go after last season, but he may have wanted Garrett to have another year under his belt.
  9. It's a game-playing thing. Many people I know do that just to get what they want, but I'm with you...it doesn't seem right to me, either. Tough call...I've never been a big fan of satellite, but having Sunday Ticket for free is *almost* a no-brainer.
  10. I don't get why people are so irked at these comments. Maybe I can see how it showed Jauron wasn't in sync with the relationship between Schonert & the players, but maybe the combination of losing the players and the bad offense is what pushed Jauron over the edge. The horrid showing against Detroit was probably the last straw.
  11. Thank you. I know Edwards has been around since '07 and he's had his share of injuries, but I think it's way too early to kick him out. Not to mention, with the ineptitude of this coaching staff, I'm not so sure Edwards is as bad as people think he looks.
  12. I really think he is. If Ralph has his wits about him, this is a warning sign to Jauron. It also serves the purpose of having someone else handle the offense (someone who couldn't be worse). I still think this is a lot about the play-calling, but considering this came from Ralph, a pathetic offensive performance against the Lions probably was the last straw.
  13. The thing is...Jauron only has to sell his services to Ralph. Ralph is the sole individual responsible for whether or not Jauron has a job with the Bills and he apparently is easily convinced.
  14. Do you really think it's true that just because AVP never called a single play means that he just stood on the sidelines waiting to chat with Trent? I would think (at minimum, hope) that AVP had input on the plays and would be completely aware of what's happening. If I was him, I'd be thinking about what I'd call in each spot - if not, then looking over it during the week between games. I honestly believe a lot of this has to do with sucky play-calling, not necessarily a sucky offense. I just couldn't understand some of the calls coming in from an old NFL QB (albeit a backup for many years) who was supposed to have a good understanding of his offense.
  15. I'm not so sure about the opener....this change - if anything - intrigues me about what will happen. Before, I would probably have hoped that we were going to see something different than the preseason games, but wouldn't have been surprised if we didn't. I really don't think AVP has time to install a new scheme in 10 days, but I can see him scrapping the no-huddle. I have a feeling that the coaches realized it just wasn't working, so they can use this as an excuse to drop it. I agree that this is all about play-calling, as it was miserable last year and the preseason showed no signs of it improving (no-huddle aside). They weren't just going to hand the play-calling to the QB coach with the OC still hanging around and you know Jauron wasn't going to do it, so firing Turk seemed to be the "logical choice".
  16. But if he's smart, he'll also realize that he can't install a new system a week for the season starts. This would be like a group of students reading from a mildly out of date text book, then given a brand new one a week before the final exam and basing the entire semester on that. What I hope happens is that AVP is given full control of the play-calling and Jauron is out of it completely.
  17. Remember....this echoes the sentiments of many posters on this board, too.
  18. You know, I hate it when people like us posters suggest the team does something like this "because other teams do it". Now I'm wondering if DJ is on this board somewhere and/or if he's doing this because it's the trendy thing to do. Outside of that....wow. I'm a little taken aback by this. Maybe Jauron is feeling the heat already.
  19. Good God, no. Spurrier is a college coach that was clearly in over his head in the NFL. That would be like bringing in a coach that had experience, but didn't win. Hey...wait a minute.... I wanted Fassel as soon as Gregg Williams was shown the door. This is a guy who knows the game, isn't afraid to take control, and will put people in their place if he has to. I respect that just as much (if not more) than a coach who is player-friendly. Having Jauron on the hot seat this year allows Ralph to make the move to bring in any one of these guys next year. I doubt that's how he planned it, but (money aside) I can see it working out this way.
  20. So, firing Jon Gruden for no apparent reason is legit? With their declining talent on defense and a mediocre offense, they were at least competitive. Their Superbowl win was 7 seasons ago. That's more than an eternity in sports these days.
  21. I really agree with this. Either things start clicking and they get on a roll or they just don't get it at all.
  22. The Bucs situation was just bizarre. Jagodzinski's philosophies and teaching style wasn't liked in Tampa from day 1. I read somewhere that he wasn't really fit to be a coordinator and was probably in over his head. I have a feeling the situation in KC was a power struggle. Todd Haley is an offensive guy and Chan Gailey is a veteran coach who would probably want total control of the offense, as he had with Herm Edwards coaching the Chiefs. With the offense struggling, it makes sense that Haley made the move. Where the "preseason doesn't matter" is the result of the games, but you also want to make sure the first team on both sides of the ball is in sync. I am concerned that the offense hasn't had much time on the field. We've only seen 2 series where the projected starters were on the field together and that was about a month ago. How are they suddenly going to be able to click on Monday night? I don't know. That said, this doesn't mean that Turk should automatically be fired. I hate the insinuations that just because other teams are making coaching changes, then the Bills should also. We don't know what those changes are going to do to Tampa Bay & Kansas City - maybe they'll take 4-5 weeks to get up to speed with what the HC wants, while going 1-4 at the same time. At least the Bills have the continuity through the preseason and (outside of Turk's play calling) the offense should know what they have to do. I'm not saying the Bills will be 5-1 again, but it may all start clicking in week 3. Unless you're at OBD, you don't know.
  23. But at this point, Belichick has turned the injury report into a farce...he listed Brady on the report every week in '07, as if he was even close to "probable". Now everyone is catching on and doing it. I don't know what can stop teams from listing someone as questionable or probable even if they know that player will play. It's all gamesmanship now. To me, "OUT" seems to be the only legitimate category on the injury report.
  24. I'm not sure you can emphasize that enough.
  25. I would think successful teams don't give a sh*t about Facebook. This is what I hate about Facebook & Twitter...professional players who post on these sites are only concerned with getting attention. The public is like paparazzi when it comes to social networking sites - people will sit and wait for every little thing that someone posts or tweets and then turn that into a story. The media and many of the fans are starting to use these posts as official news outlets and I can't stand it.
