Bills' Cuts to the 53 Man Roster Limit
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
So we have a gay punter and one coming from San Fran?? Do they plan to be roommates? -
First off, I'm a bit surprised they cut him from everything stated and seen. But to rip the Bills from office as another example of being clueless is even a bigger example of being clueless! He's been on like six teams in about three or four years, and DT is one of the deepest positions on the Bill's starting with two pro bowl players and yet the Bill's were idiots for cutting him. LOL To those ripping this cut, get a life and stick to something you actually understand as football knowledge obviously is not your strength.

The quarterbacks or the coaches

On top of Vanilla 4 out of 5 different O-line players from week prior per position, plus no Sammie. Lets give the O-line two weeks of playing together same guys in same positions. -
Yes and you for one can easily reconginze HC material. That's why you're posting on a message board. If the new owner is TP, think you're going to be real disapointed. Likely the end of this year the only change I see coming if the Bills don't show improvment is they dump Hackert and bring in a new OC. Unles the new owner has a hand picked guy he's real close with doubt either RB or DW go anywhere and likely Marrone will be given at least one more year. And likely thye'll blame any lack of improvement by EJ on the OC too, so doubt they'd give up on a #1 pick after two seasons. Probably would see a new OC and bring in an experienced backup and have a competition for the job.

It was reported that Moorman has been punting left handed this pre-season to save wear and tear on his leg. -

$23,661,443 in Dead Money
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to papazoid's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
So how does that compare ot the other 31 teams and how's it compare over a four or five year period? Wouldn't shock me to see that many teams have similar amounts every few years. I will grant you it's easier to accept when a team was doing very well, then starts to grow old, so you make some cuts. In this case that's not what happened -
If we could go back to the draft
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to jletha's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
So is the coaching staffs fault that Glenn wasn't ready at the beginning of camp. And it turns out that the rookie who filled in for him did so well, it quickly became apparent it didn't make sense to sit him when other spots were also struggling. The only thing you could blame the coaches for at all was their 2nd round pick not looking very well, but he's certainly not the only 2nd rounder to ever fail. While all the changes are hurting them right now, give them two weeks ot have the same players out there in practice and lets see how they look in the regular season. Even then, while you hope they look supper on Sept 7th, it still may take a couple more weeks for them to really gel. -
Please watch this! Especially at 2:45

Well the other thing too is as the announcers kept saying, Tampa is very similar to Chicago so why show anything that the Bears could use. On the hand absorb what Tampa is showing you. -
Well when you take into account that this is the first game back for Glenn after practicing one whole week. Then you take a rookie who's played all of training camp at left tackle, start him to RT with all of one week of practice. Then as a result of that move, now you move a guy who's played tackle the past couple of years into guard. On top of that you have a last minute scratch at the other guard position and start your rookie 2nd round pick who's looked shaky at best all of training camp. But hey we do have an experienced center! So I do feel that lets give the O-line the next two weeks of practice before I'd agree wit hyou about hem looking real weak.

Financially the Buffalo Bills may be locked in
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to HOUSE's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
So using your analogy a busiess wouldn't be able to issue stock dividends at the end of a quarter, or end of year bonuses would not be allowed, no hiring, firing, raises anything while the sale is going on. Those things typically don't stop other than in cases of real small busineses. In principle what you're saying I'm sure is true, for example if the state decided tomorrow they wanted to sell RWS, buying that certainly would changed the value of the asset by a large amount. But even trading for Tom Brady would change the valsue of the asset by very little in the grand scheme of things -
Love your idea, can't understand why the Bills don't try something like this?? Oh wait that's exactly what they did last year and got Tuell. So basically you want to repeat the same thing now except this guy won't have had any time to learn the system at all. With any luck by next season he may be as good, or even better than Tuell. The reason why Tuell appears to be the #2 guy this year is having had an entire off season, he had time to learn the offense and his skill set may be better than Lewis. Just like two years ago we had Jackson here and people never understood why he never played a down, you don't bring a QB in late August and expect him to be productive in anyway and Jackson was here even earlier than that. If it's a highly experienced you can maybe get away with it, but not a guy like this who's mainly been playing against 3rd stringers but you need a real experienced highly skilled team around him.

I got half off ST Max so paying I believe it is around $170? plus $10 off regular bill. I'm still under contract, so hands are somewhat tied. Next summer I'll have more leverage, can easily say cancel as should not be under any contract then. I'm still not happy with my regular bill as some discounts have ended and my bill has gone up around $30 a month since March and in another month another $15 discount will be ending. But the guy told me right now that's the best he can do as the system shows I am still getting these discounts, so none other available. He told me to call back after the $15 credit ends, as they may be able to do something then. Two years ago, I had same thing happen, had a deal all worked out. Was happy with it, but they didn't honor it, so had to call back again and fight some more. -
Practice Squad Eligible Bills
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to The Dean's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
T.J. Graham would be an interesting one from the 2nd group. You'd take a risk that someone might grab him, but I 'd be inclinded to take that risk. Keep him on the PS, if someone gets hurt, then bring him back. Still would be working with the team and up to speed on what's going on. Hairston could be another similar one, hasbn't done enough for a team to really go after him. Does anyone know is the 2nd group optional, in other words can you choose all 10 from the first list if you wish, but this new rule gives teams the option to select two more "seasoned" players in addition?? -
Round 2 : Sale of the team
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to Just Jack's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yeah but where are you going to fuind someone who is willing to put up roughly 2/3 of the money but not be the voice of the team. JBJ had a unique situation with the Toronto group that allowed him to put up the least amount of money, but stil lbe the managing partner. I think he would have had trouble finding that elsewhere. -

It's difficult to project how a say who played say at Louisville really compares to say a guy who played at USC. The USC guy is going up against Bama, Florida, Georgia, and Auburn almost every year, where the Louisville guy was playing U Conn and Cinnci The n along comes a guy like an Andre Reed or even a Phil Simms who played at some lower level program, how will he project? Where as the engineer has reliable data to equate those two situations.

Who should stay on with new ownership?
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to Beerball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Would have been better if there were time frames given. I'd sign Brandon and Whaley to extensions. With new ownership all bets are off to some level but Marrone deserves at least one more year to show improvement. If there is no improvement, more likely it will be due to bad QB play which while he was very likely involved with the decision to draft EJ, regardless of what the experts on this message board will tell you, it's a crap shoot. There aren't enough good QB's to go around so worth taking a chance on him and cross your fingers. If EJ has a terrible year likely Marrone would be forced to change the OC and Hackett will go. You certainly can make the argument that EJ failed due to bad coaching direction. -
Next and final step, a high profile coach.
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to Tipster19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
How is that on Marrone? Not that I'm condeming him for this, but that's up to Whaley to decide if we're OK or not. Sure he'll get input from Marrone, but roster make up is on the GM Ever since Parcells left the Giants he's another overrated guy who pushes the blame elsewhere and leaves the first time things don't go the way he likes. Hey Shanahan is available, but likely hard to get after his success in Washington. How about a Sean Peyton or Belchick or one of the Harboughs? Only problem is they all came the same route, guy was hired as new coach in some cases took awhile to become successful, others did well quickly but you rreally had no better idea what you were getting when the hire was made. . Bottom line there's nothing to show Marrone isn't just as a good of a coach. The only somewhat legit gripes you can make is on the hiring of his OC and special teams, but even there, lets see where we are at year end.
