  1. If he's going to retire and fade away likely will be here till May as that's when contracts of GM's and front office run out. If he gets fired, that could happen year end
  2. He knows how to close businesses down, I'll give you that. Respected as what a very good QB, yes front office I don't think so.
  3. Good God NO!!! Bill Polian fine, but along with the respectability likely his son would also come along. From what I've read he's a real piece of work and couldn't get a job in the NFL without Daddy's help. I honestly believe that's why Bill Polian was let go by the Colts. Irsay would have liked to have kept Bill, but knew he couldn't keep Bill and fire the son, so let them both go.
  4. Someone else brought up the Tom Cable name, as far as no names go I kind of like that one. Supposedly likes to run, and the players seemed to like him.
  5. Actually if Nix is here Feb 1st still doesn't mean a whole lot as GM's contracts typically run through May 1st, through the draft. What scares me alot about Polian is I'm afraid it's a package deal with Bill and his kid. and the kid sounds terrible. Personally I think that was why BP got fired in Indy. I think Irsay would have kept Bill, but wanted to fire the son and knew that wasn't going to work so fired both of them.
  6. Actually the odds are against him succeeding. Has nothing to do with Nix, just look at how many teams fail. Since 1995 when Kelly retired, I looked up how many teams went through different starting QB's from one year till next. I defined it as whomever started the most games one year, then if the next year someone different started the most games, that was a change in QB This was the list: 10 different QB's Vikes, Bears, Browns, Fins, Redskins 9 different QB's Raiders Jets, Cardinals, & Bills 8 Ravens, Panthers, Bucs, Bengals 7 Falcons, Cowboys, Chiefs At the bottom of the list Packers Colts, Pats with two each There's some teams with what are considered very good front offices and they couldn't succeed either. It goes back to my argument that you have a league with 32 teams and about a dozen top level QB's The rest just keep cycling through names. That's why I'm sure the Bill's stuck with Fitz, they knew he wasn't going to be mistaken for Drew Bree's or someone like that, but knew the odds of finding someone better weren't all that high and hoped he would have done better than he did.
  7. Sure becasue a bunch of people on this board thinks it's a great idea
  8. The chain gang is on the sideline even more, so guess they'd make an even better choice. First off how many top level hall of famer ex-players do you know of that made good coaches. Typcially they make the worst coaches. Sounds like you're saying because a player was a star and stands on the sideline you think he'd make a great coach?? And then you get upset as in many of the responses people are making fun of you in this thread. And BTW every year there is at least one thread stating Kelly for coach and every year that person gets blasted for the same reasons. Sorry but hard to give a serious response to a question that is this laughable.
  9. That is the strategy, now teams will may feel the need to keep a couple extra guys up towards the line, thus making it tougher to set up a good return. And actually that was why it was a good place for Seattle to run the play, they were way up, if it totally failed and the Bill's got the ball and scored a TD, so what Seattle was still going to win the game. In a 7 point game, you try that and fail it could cost you the game. Whether it worked or not, you still have to now be ready to defend it and it couldn't have hurt Seattle either way in this game. So actually yes it was a good idea running it at that time. The only risk is being ripped for running up the score.
  10. In case anyone was wondering why the Bill's ran the QB sneak on 1st down, I'm sure CG will tell us it was Fitz's turn!
  11. How can a person who is so football savvy to know "he has it" and can carry a team, not know that the trade deadline passed 8 weeks ago?? I don't claim to be able to know talent, but even I know there's a trade deadline. Your credibility of knowing anything drops down to about a zero!!
  12. A good fit for Vick I think would be Minn. They have one very good receiver, also have a great RB, seemed committed to running the ball so not asking the QB to win games. They play offensively like the Bill's should be playing. One top of that a pretty good defense. One are that's hurting them is QB, a little impprovment could make them a top team.
  13. There's a huge number of amazing college QB's who fail in the NFL. So now you're suggesting a guy who in college had the job of not losing games and thinking that he can now become a star. I don't care how good a college team is, if your role in college is not to lose the game, that to me translates to extremely scary NFL prospect.
  14. No I don't see what you mean at all. Likely RW is alot sharper than both of you put together wich really wouldn't say much for Ralph as the bar is set pretty low. Or maybe not, but one thing I do know is that neither of you have a clue as to how sharp or lack there of RW really is!. The first comment was likely somewhat in jest, but then to start off with "see what I mean..." just shows what a complete idiot you really are!
  15. The problem with bringing in Polian is I'm guessing it's a package deal with the son and from what I've read, I think he's a loser who can't get a job without daddy's help. I really don't see what improvement a new prez would make anyway compared to RB. In my view the position of prez doesn't have to know much about football, he needs a strong business mind which RB has. A top notch GM with a new ownership with deep pockets that can now attract a high level coach and players and RB is fine.
  16. What difference would that make when essentially we have a lamb duck owner. Look what just happened in Cleveland, team is sold, new owner brings in his GM and Prez, Holmgrem is out. I think with new ownership Buddy could attract a much better coach. Add to that while RW has spend alot of money on players, (just not always wisely) it's always been a strong rumor he won't spend $$ on coaches. So again that's where the problem seems to be. The ways things have gone this year, I do start to question how much enjoyment RW is still getting from being the owner?? Has he even been to one game this year. All of the negative comments towards him has to hurt him. But maybe the tax issues almost are forcing him not to sell.
  17. Yeah, but that was their last time out, so if there was a bad snap there wouldn't have been time to lime up again for another kick with the clock running. It still made no sense.
  18. From what the announcers were saying it was also sunny during warm ups compared to raining late in the game. There was already a punt and an extra point mishandled. As far as "play-offs on the line", play off have NOT been on the line in weeks. You're dreaming if you think they are. Not saying they shouldn't have tried the field goal, but I do disagree with your arguments for kicking
  19. So I have Sunday Ticket Max. I wanted to watch another game online and tried both on my laptop which still runs on Windows XP could log one OK, but when I'd click to view game, nothing would happen. I've also had issue when I log on it lists the schedule of games from like a month ago and doesn't update to current week. Then I tried on my Galaxy Tab, when I tried there got message stating I need Flash and the Android OS doesn't support Flash so wouldn't work. But yet the DTV website lists the Tab as a viable device to use. So am wondering how to get it to run on the tablet without flash (believe I have Ice Cream Sandwich) and also if anyone knows what are the requirements to run on the laptop or what to do if it just sits then and won't open up a window to view game?
  20. I don't think I'd call Rich Gannon elite. I recall him having a couple of good years with the Raiders, in fact I'd call them very good years, but don't recall much of anything else about his career. And the fact that I don't recall much says he's not elite! As for the rest of the list, agree, Rogers should be in the "A" group. Eli Manning based on big game play belongs there, but still overall needs to show a little more besides playing great every three years. He's very close, likely hte next person to graduate to the "A" team
  21. Most likely Seattle will want a 1st rounder. Too often teams have made that type of a trade and it failed. Look no further than Rob Johnson or Kevin Kolb. One of the few trade successes was Matt Schaub in Houston, but seems to be more failures that deals that worked out.
  22. I doubt a team would waste practice reps on a guy who can't play all year. That being said, sitting in meeting an observing is a big help the following year. Also would think he's work big time on strength and conditioning.
  23. What about Sanchez? Will he also be on the trading block? And may come much cheaper? Baltimore is happy with Flacco, maybe not thrilled but content to keep him. I think the Jet's may have to move Sanchez as relationship is sooo strained at this point, so if forced to make move $$ comes down. For those who want to get rid of CG, bringing in a new QB would likely assure that happens at least by the following year as with CG's offense being rather complex, likely a new QB will struggle learning. Say what you want about Fitz, arm strength is weak, but I think he's one of the exceptions in that he's capable of understanding it. That may be why CG is so in love with Fitz as he's the first QB he's ever had that actually understands it, (just not the arm to go with it) So a new QB will likely struggle, team regresses and if CG does survive this off-season, if the team gets worse, he'll be gone by the following year.
  24. Well Wanny's D is based on rushing only four. With Mario hurt it was killing him. Now that he seems to be back and playing well, the D is doing well. Add a top notch LB in off season and maybe some depth in the secondary who can actually play, a year of experience for Gilmore and Brooks, maybe Sercy starts. Maybe another off season Merriman will even be playing at a high level, or was he only signed thru this season?? Don't recall??
  25. Tressel had a daughter that went to RIT, I'm sure she's graduated by now, (she was there around 5 years ago when my daughter attended) but maybe a younger sibling is there now, so was in the neighborhood. She was a photo science major, recall hearing how she'd bring in for projects sideline photo's from OSU games, that was how she "outed" herself. I belive Tressel was even the commencement speaker the year his daughter graduated. Or maybe the daughter now has a Rochester connection??
