I think you do it in stages, like Philadelphia did when they picked Wentz at #2. They first made a trade with Miami to get from #13 to #8. They traded Kiko Alonzo and Byron Maxwell to move up 5 spots. This put them in a position to get to #2. Cleveland wanted to stay in the top 8 picks.

Trading RR is not a surprise. Getting very little in return is surprising. Beane seems under-value our assets. A 4th rounder in 2019 equals a 5th rounder next year. RR was worth more than that! Trading doesn't seem to be Beane's strength.

I think Donahoe has learned some valuable lessons. He wanted to trade up for Big Ben but didn't pay the price to get ahead of Pittsburgh. Losman was plan B. He was behind the Philly trade up for Carson Wentz and probably also behind the trade of Sam Bradford for a #1 pick. Getting a first rounder for Peerless Price was amazing but using it to pick an injured RB that sat out for a year was equally as dumb.

There are a lot of reasons not to like Sherman. One big reason is that the guy kind of cheats with drugs. I read somewhere that he took Adderal for "attention deficit disorder". Amphetamines could give him extra alertness and quicker reflexes. I think this ADD crap is just a way to cheat the system.

Doug is a decent fellow and I can't feel too bad for him collecting a big paycheck for the next several years while having no responsibilities. He was really a glorified scout. I think we are in a much better place with the current GM and his staff.

Peter King is a huge Patriot homer. If he can plant any seeds of discord with the Bills new GM/coach duo, he will.

I see Sammy having a rebound contract year season. He will either be tagged, or better yet, re-signed.

I think both the Sabres and Bills now have the right guys in leadership. I think Botterill will pick a good coach. The problem nwith the Bills wasn't bad scouts, in fact I think we have had one of the better scouting staffs. The problem was the GM was a scout, not a jack of all trades team building GM. We need continuity for more than a few years to make this thing work. I think Peterman is going to be a pleasant surprise. Smart, good pocket presence, accurate passer with the ability to anticipate, adequate but not great arm which is something that can improve. I would love it if we have the guy on our roster and didn't have to use our draft picks on a QB next year.

Arm strength can improve. Pocket presence and accuracy are hard to change and Peterson has both. I think he will surprise a lot of people. Cardale will look the part throwing it through the drywall but from what I have heard, he is not very accurate.

I agree, they did find some gems on the trash pile. They will probably be snatched up by the Patriots. They will no longer need to poach guys like Gilislee and Hogan. They can do it for themselves.
