  1. Arm talent and toughness, certainly. Not enough leadership or brains. He’s aloof and not a master of the Xs and Os. Plus he’s liable to get canceled because of an errant tweet from his wife.
  2. His division has mostly sucked for most of his career. But anyhow you’ll soon find out if you’re right. They’re letting him go (which should tell you everything), and we’ll see if Arians or Gruden or or McDaniels or Shanahan can win with him. I’m skeptical.
  3. Im sorry when do the Detroit Lions win games? He should go to Oakland and become Gruden’s latest salvage project.
  4. @FireChans I know about his fourth quarter comebacks. So don’t. They usually come after he’s played poorly for 3+ quarters. He’s a perennial disappointment. With his talent he should take over games and he never ever does.
  5. You know how Allen can take over a game, get that look in his eyes and will the team to victory? We’ve seen it numerous times already in his still-young career. Stafford never does that. My Lions fan friends have been waiting and waiting and waiting to see some magic from him and it’s never come. He’s tough, but he’s not a leader. He’s not a winner. He’s not Allen.
  6. That organization is a McClown show. <drops mic>
  7. I don't see it as playing not to lose - the key is converting redzone opportunities into touchdowns. I just don't want to score too quickly.
  8. Except that a short passing attack, if it moves the sticks slowly, keeps Mahomes off the field. Not the worst strategy for Sunday.
  9. You shouldn't take it - it was a horrible pick in terms of resource allocation and player selection. No need to draft a guard that high and he's not even a good one - he came into his second season out of shape and unprepared, and looked like the worst starter in the NFL before leaving with an injury. Plus DK Metcalf was the pick there.
  10. We’ll survive this folks.
  11. That’s the key question. Was just watching the Football Outsiders conference championship video preview and they basically said, you either trust the data and pick Buffalo, or believe that this season doesn’t matter and the Chiefs can just flip a switch to turn into the 2018-19 version of themselves, which analytics has never seen happen. The non-analytics media seems to believe this to be the case. The smart money seems to be on Buffalo covering if not winning outright. Also I’m nervous.
  12. It underscores what we’ve been saying - the next hard part starts now (first hard part was getting a QB). Once Allen gets paid, they have to become more efficient at drafting and pro personnel. They’ve been good there - but they’ll need to be better than good if they want to stack rings. It’s so hard - the Saints have drafted so well and they won only once with Brees. You’ve got to really hit it out of the park in rounding out the roster when your QB is on a max deal.
  13. Good read here: https://www.si.com/nfl/2021/01/22/gameplan-buffalo-bills-built-conference-championship-rosters ”And that brings us back to our jumping-off point here—which was that the Bills actually have fewerhome-grown players than the other conference finalists. That’ll change, Beane assures, because it has to. Buffalo’s going to try to sign Allen long-term this offseason, and he’s not the only young star on that roster with big money on the horizon. In time, it’ll mean shifting the Bills’ model—only two of the team’s 14 biggest cap numbers for 2020 belong to homegrown guys, and those are to the first two draft picks of the Beane-McDermott Era, White and Dawkins, to sign big second contracts. As more re-up, the margin for error shrinks, and Beane knows it. Which eventually will lead to the Bills’ chart look more like the Chiefs’, Packers’ and Bucs’.”
  14. Cody Ford getting hurt has been addition by subtraction - he was the worst starter on the team and possibly the league before his injury. He is close to busting out of the NFL if he doesn’t recommit to getting in shape and getting focused.
  15. 59 pages in this thread so far, but I bet if you subtracted all of the “Guess what some talking head just said - agenda!” posts, it would drop to about 4 pages. For the life of me I cannot figure out why we’ve become so media-obsessed as a society. Who cares what somebody said?
  16. We almost took Zay Jones over Tre, if you can believe it.
  17. Bots don’t “realize” things.
  18. Serious question, if that happened, would I have anything left to live for?
  19. 1) I can't imagine what his golf drive must look like. He must hit the snot out of the ball. 2) LOL that the Jake Fromm pick fired him up. Dude is competitive like the great ones.
  20. ... equals a back door Duke Williams thread.
  21. I mostly agree with this analysis. Sounds like McDermott saw the same thing and told Daboll at halftime to adjust. Honestly he shouldn’t have to do it, Dabs needs a bit more situational awareness. Dabs sometimes is a bit too slow with making in-game adjustments although he usually does make them. I haven’t watched the All-22 but on the TV broadcast of Allen’s deep throws it looked to me that there were guys open underneath. The best way to keep Mahomes off the field is to sustain time-consuming drives so I hope they are more patient this week on offense. Work down the field slowly. Use the whole play clock. Etc.
  22. Hope you're right. If Etienne or Harris are sitting there at 32 - they should trade down.
