Theory on why Allen struggles against KC
Coach Tuesday replied to Mikie2times's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Sure seemed like the Chiefs knew the playcalls and had the perfect coverage/defense every single time. -
So...are Edmunds and Oliver good?

Where would Oliver go in a 3-4? OLB? -
Daboll apologized to Beasley, Diggs after loss

The Bills’ coaching staff will get a front row seat from their couches in two weeks to see how more experienced and/or aggressive coaches scheme up KC. Brady will know what to do against tight man coverage and late safety robber rotation, and Bowles will have a far more aggressive plan for Mahomes than McDermott and Frazier did. They should take notes. -

I guess another way of saying it is: if Edmunds is “perfect for this defense,” maybe the defense needs to change. -

I don’t see them completely changing their defensive scheme, @colin -

Kamara. Secretly a power back despite the size and juking.

I have no problem being patient and actually developing young players which is a marked change from the Ralph years. But there’s a limit. Not saying we’re there yet but it’s soon. Usually with young players you at least see flashes of greatness - they’ll make “wow” plays out of athleticism and instinct alone. Haven’t seen many of those with Tre. He’s got the athleticism. I don’t think he has the instincts. His brother is the same way in Pittsburgh by the way - they, too, have been mystified by the lack of flash plays out of their Edmunds. -

Can you point to a single game-altering play he made in 2020? He's a zone/cover linebacker. Any interceptions? Any tipped balls that led to others' interceptions? How about a blown up screen pass at a critical moment, any of those? Did he shut down a single tight end? (No, the Bills were at the bottom of the league in covering tight ends in 2020.) He was playing injured, sure. Since then he's gone from bad to serviceable. It's great that he makes the defensive calls but they're sacrificing a lot of playmaking to have a guy who can make the calls. -
McD needs to apply that killer instinct to his roster. He trusts his guys too much. He has become more ruthless with coaches (firing Castillo was a true sign of growth) but he is still learning how to accept nothing less than excellence in all facets, players included. Erring on the side of letting the guys who got you there play in the game is a noble idea. It’s also idiotic. Err on the side of doing everything possible to win. That’s The Way. He trusted his injured players to play well enough and he trusted his players, generally, to get the job done in vanilla schemes on offense and defense. That’s why he’ll be watching the Super Bowl on his couch. He needs to become more of a jerk. Stat.

Cole Beasley broke his damn fibula vs Patriots Week 16

This guy. Legend. -
Kelce accounted for almost 40% of the Chiefs’ passing game and he was wide open on most of his catches. This is inexcusable.

No doubt Mongo was terrible. He’s a FA as well and they should look to upgrade there - he probably lost his roster spot tonight. -

Something was off with him tonight. It was Q Spain-esq. Was getting turnstiled and then looking around confused about why it was happening. Thought maybe he was having a stroke. Very bizarre. -

Literally would’ve been just as bad or better if they hadn’t game planned at all. -

I do. Have you ever played team sports? Players want to be put in a position to win. They hate being embarrassed. The anger you saw was less about the cheap shots and more about the hopeless situation their coaches put them in tonight IMO. -

This game was lost on Tuesday and Wednesday. Hence my screen name. McD took a look at KC and decided we couldn’t beat them straight up. He refused to counter their inevitable aggression. It’s a shame because he’s come so far this year trusting his offense to win games. He really reverted this week and you hope the players don’t lose faith in him - they seemed to become unglued by it all at the end of the game. Their coaches gave them no chance. This is a bad loss for the Process and it will take some work to repair the damage. -

Sure, if the Bengals had had a 25 year-old QB who is miles ahead of everyone else in the sport. This is not a comparable situation. They have real work to do both talent-wise and schematically if they’re ever gonna catch KC.
