We took Aaron Williams over Andy Dalton
Webster Guy replied to boyst's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The real miss was Dareus over AJ Green that year. 99 is a good NFL player but AJ is a monster week in and week out. -
Releasing levitre was not done because of health concerns. He passed a thorough physical with the titans. The correct play was to tag Levitre and sign Byrd. Ralph had the money to do both. Easily. Having Andy back between Cordy and Eric would have helped EJ and Spiller significantly this year. Say what you want about Levitre, we missed the guy badly this season. Im shocked at the number of posters here that won't admit this.

better with Nassib this year?
Webster Guy replied to NYCBoozers's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yeah they took Duke Williams over Nassib in the 4th. That kinda says it all. Not that Hackett or Marrone are professional talent evaluators, but the fact that they passed on a guy that Gruden called "the most NFL ready of all college quarterbacks in the draft" must be say something. I thought it would have been worth a flyer in the 4th round though. And then everyone on this board called me an idiot and said it would kill EJ's confidence (you know how bad competition is for training camp). One thing is for sure, Nassib had a good education on how NOT to play QB watching poor Eli slump all year down in NY. -
Can't believe NeverGiveUp actually gave up. Maybe it was Ralph's doctor.

New Special teams coach. Trade Stevie Get a punter, LG, WR, TE, LB

When stuff like this happens I cant stop thinking that we had AJ Green right there and knew he was gonna be a monster NFL game changer and instead we went for big 99. I loved the pick at the time, and I'm still a fan of Marcel, but Green literally WINS games for his teams. He did it against us this year. No way they beat us without AJ. Cant help but think what this team would look like with AJ Green, Woods and Goodwin.

I think we could sign a vet WR like Hakeem Nicks next year for what we will pay Byrd (or TE Jimmie Graham). . I like the guy on the field, but our problem this year when Byrd was out wasn't free safety. It was left guard and having big experienced targets that get separation to throw to. We need to focus on shoring up our weak spots in free agency before we throw more money at a position we have adequate depth and skill at. Oh wait, this was about hawaii. Nice gesture Byrd. You grabbed $7 mil for 11 games this year, that wasn't so nice.

I'm having trouble understanding why so many people seem to think Alex Carrington is such a good football player and will command big money on the free agent market. The guy has 9 starts in FOUR nfl seasons. He has 4 career sacks and just seem very average to me. (i'll give you the fact that he's an awesome field goal blocker) D line seems so shored up now with the signing of Branch, I don't see where this is going to fit in anymore.

Hate to say it..... (QB situation)
Webster Guy replied to IslandBillsFan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
yeah but at least Hackett is starting to use the screen play more. I think if he had used it early in the season we would have won a few more games. Our team runs it very well. Eric Wood's favorite play. He said it lets him hit little linebackers and Dbacks so he likes it. -
Ralph used to wear em too, but he probably wears a helmet in his house these days.

Strange possibility in division
Webster Guy replied to 4merper4mer's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It was nice to beat the Jets and sweep the dolphins for sure, but beating the Patriots next week would be an awesome way to finish the season. Robey Gilmore Mckelvin are a serious force at corner right now. I predicted a huge defensive victory today and think Brady is going to be shocked at how well his receivers are covered next week. Our D is on fire. -
Bills' Blackout Threats Are a Joke
Webster Guy replied to patfitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The left guard spot did not get much better with Legursky taking over. I watch the replays every week, they really screwed EJ with that Levitre move. If you don't believe me keep your eyes on the LG turnstile against Miami. Running or passing, its a glaring weakness. -
The trick is to find a blend of big and athletic without getting stuck wasting a pick on the next James Hardy. Personally I'd rather run a two TE set with Chamdler and the best rookie TE in the nation, whoever that is.
-
yup. and a big target with great hands for EJ. TE or WR I don't care which, but we need to take the biggest pass catching stud we can get in the first two rounds.

Stafford throws such a rocket ball it's fun to watch. He suffers from the Romo Fitz disease though. Brains Short circuit when the game is on the line. The saddest thing about that exciting football game was that they had Calvin Johnson in single coverage all by himself on that 2 pointer and somehow they missed it. I could not think of a better duo that I would bet my life on to convert a 2 pointer than Megatron single covered with Stafford throwing. It at least cost them an overtime, possibly the game and the season. 1 play.

Saved us the need to draft a corner next year. He will only get better too. He reminds me of a little Antoine Winfield out there. He did have that big mistake against Tampa but so do all corners in the NFL. Great player, fun to watch and root for out there.

Why is Graham used more than Goodwin?
Webster Guy replied to Jerry Jabber's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Either that or his game production reads something like 49 catches despite being targeted over 100 times, his route running cost us a game last year, and this year his TD total and lost fumbles are the same. 1 apiece. Goodwin is a rookie who was hurt for a huge part of the year and he already has 3 touchdowns on only 30 targets, and has shown NFL caliber ball skills. Maybe there is a reason the board has a problem with TJ. He's two seasons in and a non-factor in any game he's played in except (arguably) one game. Our WR future is a big possession guy opposite Woods and Goodwin. Two little burners don't work unless you have Dan Marino throwing to them and EJ is no Dan Marino. -
Aaron had a great pick as well as the forced fumble. The guy has been responsible for two wins this season with his big plays. I don't know how it happened, but all of the sudden the light has come on for Leodis and Aaron this year, and we found a gem in Robey (thanks to coach Marrone for that pickup, he noticed him at USC and thought he could play NFL). Gilmore has finally knocked the rust off as well. Our corners are great right now. Not sure about Aaron's injury but I think New England and Miami are going to find it tough to throw on us these next few weeks.

Listening to WGR post game is a waste of time
Webster Guy replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yesterday was exceptionally poor radio. I tuned in for a short time and couldnt take it. I agree that Bulldog on his own is much better. Schopp is burned out from football and its painfully obvious. I used to be a listener. -
I disagree with his "ill-advised" superhero spin moves assessment. EJ's spin/rollout move to the left can be awesome and works more than it fails. It allows him to escape, see the pressure and roll out all in the same move, and he doesn't over-use it in my opinion. Here's my take: EJ has EVERYTHING but the touch right now. And that's saying a lot for a rookie. I think if he throws 10,000 more practice balls to his primary receivers and has a great offseason then by the end of next season we will know what we have. Giving a promising rookie two full years is logical in EJ's case because he will do the work. Stevie might not, but Woods will and I think Goodwin will too. Draft a stud TE and a left guard and get this kid a full NFL offseason for development. Then I think it's a 50/50 chance he will be a good NFL qb. Don't forget we were in a lot of close games this year, if he were 20% better we would have won. I trust EJ for some reason. But lets keep Thad Lewis around. As the old Arabic proverb says: "Trust in God....but first....tether your camel...."

So you're saying because of one game DaRick is going to be a solid NFL receiver. Okay. Maybe you know more than the rest of the NFL where not ONE team was even willing to burn a 7th round loser pick on the guy. Check back in with me next year and see how DaRick's production is. Then call the front office a joke. Stevie was a 7th round steal, Woods is a rookie who is already a pretty good receiver and Goodwin appears to be a good role player for the speedster. If you're going to slam the front office, don't do it for drafting receivers. Our rookie QB has about 2.5 seconds to throw if he's lucky on every play, it wouldn't matter if we had 8 foot tall receivers out there, you can't pass without protection time to do it.

Should have taken Nassib in the 4th round I'm tellin ya

Colts far worse off than Bills
Webster Guy replied to 4merper4mer's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Nice idea. One must be in a dry, sardonic mood and pick up on the subtleties of his sarcasm, or as Neil Peart would say, the real relation--the underlying theme. He's like the David Lynch of the stadium wall. -
I don't have the conspiracy theory gene, its always amazed me how many others do. I laughed out loud at several of the posts on this thread. You guys are killin me. The rules are changing because the nfl is turning men into cripples and ruining their lives after football with concussions, complications etc. This isn't a theory its a proven fact. If you can't see the logic and humanity in the Defenseless Receiver Rule or the Helmet to Helmet enforcements then you're heartless. If you think Goodell or Vegas or the NFL owners are rigging games you need to give up watching football and go back to your JFK books or your "how they faked the Apollo moon landings" videos. The only legit complaint here is that some coaches have admitted to knowing what the point spread is and trying to cover for their fans IF the opportunity presents itself late in the game. Buddy Ryan alluded to that once and so did a college coach I cant remember his name now.
