  1. Great. Now move the superbowl to saturday at 5pm you dopes.
  2. Exactly. Or Elway letting Von's contract go the full distance. Look, the guy was a free agent last year, his contract isn't even a year old. It had incentives in there, and Tyrod is too much of a gamble still to guarantee him big money. Whaley isn't going to do anything stupid. This is just a goodwill move to start talks so there's some groundwork done if TT lights it up next season and shows he's a durable franchise guy.
  3. Yes and Whaley has already said flat out : "first and foremost he needs to learn how to slide" If you ask Tyrod he might say, yeah somebody tell Roman not to give me so many freaking designed run plays and I'll be happy to slide, but if it's 3rd and 3 and he calls a qb run, I'm taking the hit for the first down every time.
  4. The NFL ILB catch 22: Gotta be big and strong enough to shed blocks, which in many cases is a 300 pounder, but still be quick enough to fly to the ball. Hard to find both.
  5. 6-2 210lbs. Thats strong safety muscle. Last I checked we don't really have one of those we can depend on. It will be all about the cash though, and that will likely kill the deal
  6. Another idea would be 1/2 game ejections. Talib play comes to mind here, where the play didn't warrant a typical ejection (although i think it should have, the refs didn't), in addition to the penalty, the player is ejected for 2 quarters of play or possibly 1 quarter. Don't think unethical players like Talib don't know exactly what they're doing when they facemask a guy getting close to the endzone. They know its a marginal penalty, in his case it was 2 measly yards for a cheap shot that could have easily paralyzed a guy. I like this thread. Gotta do something other than fines.
  7. Bring him in, work him out. See what his actual speed and quickness are like with the stopwatch. We know he has all the intangibles, let's see the data.
  8. We got Clay and Richie from the Fins and it hurt them badly. Its over, you lost big, and you can't have them back. And you're stuck with Suh, the biggest waste of money in the NFL last year. Hey, look on thw bright side: at least Tannehill plays really well against Buffalo......
  9. With all this talk about bringing in a true Nose Tackle zero technique guy, I wonder what our line would look like if we slid Kyle out to Mario's old spot. The nose takes the A and B gap on Hughes side, Dareus plays his 1 tech right where he loves to be, and he and Kyle share that B gap depending on what is called by the Ryans. Kyle is singled on a RT as much as you want him to be, assuming your nose tackle is adequate and Dareus is handling that left inside turf (A and or B gaps) Before you laugh, forget the old saying that DE's need to be tall and have long arms. Dumerville isn't even 6 feet tall and he dominates OT's all day out there. Kyle has speed, strength, experience, chases down plays, hand control, never gets pancaked or steamrolled. If we could get a healthy productive season from Jarius Wynn and Kyle as LDE's, maybe we could focus on drafting the best player available at LB/safety/WR and not burn a pick on DE this year.
  10. I'm still amazed at how much people want from a stadium. A place to park, a beer/sofa/hot chocolate and a sandwich, a bathroom, and a decent sized jumbotron. There's a big family section if you'd like. Its a 3 hour sporting event, and then you leave. What's the big deal about extra amenities. God we're getting wimpier by the day.
  11. Did anybody ever do an official count of how many times Mario Williams was singled against a RT and could not beat his man? It seemed like the entire season, although he had to deal with chips from TE's and RB's now and then like any NFL DE. My unofficial count is 75% of the plays he was asked to play the same role as he was the previous year, beat the guy in front of you, pressure the qb, push the pocket, stop the run, try to anticipate the screen play. He plays the screen's excellent, as good as Kyle. Other than that, the dude was invisible. This whole whining about dropping into coverage (like the play in the superbowl where Peyton got picked by a dropping DE), is getting overblown. The nice thing about Mario's situation is someone will pick him up and we'll see if it was scheme or player. I think it was the player, but as long as he goes the the NFC I'm rooting for the big fella.
  12. Wait....you mean nobody wants to hear Michael Irvin try to speak english? Thats really the best part of it all. Fun drinking game: every time Irvin says something that isn't a word or isn't a complete thought, you must drink. Hammered in 10 min
  13. Our RT usually is. Back on his heels gettin steamrolled.
  14. Bills go wide left from 47 yards in final seconds, league decides to give 'em the win anyway. "We'll take it" says head coach Kyle Williams. Shady rates the Eagles after the game: "they're pussies"
  15. yup. i thought the exact same thing when I read that. i think our pass rush will be better next year even if we don't draft a DE. there wasn't much that Mario did this year that we'll miss, i don't think he impacted a single game for us unlike the previous year when he had some dominant streaks.
  16. If we offered him a huge contract after seeing him play these 14 games and he turns out to be injury prone or never develops those middle of the field and intermediate throws we're hoping for, it would set us back 5 years. He gets a full offseason and training camp, and the first 8 games next season to show improvement and consistency, then we start negotiating the new deal.
  17. Yup. Graham looked too slow. I think he will grade out poorly when they do the season ending analysis. Corey is a talented dude but if you lose step as a dback you're a liability.
  18. Thats what frustrates me about everyone saying Rex used him wrong. On the VAST majority of plays he was just rushing the passer or playing the run, and the guy was handled consistently by mediocre linemen. Same exact thing they said about him in Texas during his last year. Uninspired, minimal impact, lethargic on a lot of plays. Shows up for a series then disappears for games at a time. Wish that dude had the work ethic and drive of a Kyle or an Eric Moulds.
  19. Unless you're Mario and you still can't beat a backup RT consistently enough to impact a game.
  20. Good observation. Ive never thought of that before. Here's to hoping we have at least cordy, richie, eric and johnny miller back together and healthy for a full season next year.
  21. The Huge Mistake by The Smug One this season: He chooses to kick to the Jets in overtime, which is ridiculously poor judgement unless there is a major wind or weather issue. (there was zero wind and it was a 60 degree December day). The Jets score on the Fitz throw to Decker, the Pats lose without Brady every seeing the field, and in the process lose home field advantage throughout. Instead of playing at home with their crowd, they must travel thousands of miles and play against a great defense in high altitude with crazy crowd noise. The score was close enough to say that home field was likely the deciding factor. Pete Carroll now has to hand over the title of "I overcoached my team out of a superbowl" to Bill, which Petey won last year trying to get cute with a passing call from the Patriots 1 yard line in the superbowl. Conveniently, I hit the daily double of pure joy in knowing that my two most hated coaches, Whiny Pete and Smug Bill, both screwed up royally in back to back years messing up complete no-brainer game decisions and costing them the entire season. HAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHA............................... dopes
  22. Tons of improvement in that second year. Any lineman playing in Roman's complicated offensive line system for the first year is a challenge. Eric Wood said it on WGR. To be a rook and do it, plus all the normal NFL challenges that face the new guys, he had a ton on his plate this year. Remember the 2nd year jump for Cordy, Jason Peters etc.
  23. These are the kinds of posts I like to read. Instead of the just plain "NO" people. He was dominant in one of our games this year, can't remember which. Structure the deal correctly so it works for both sides and get the guy in camp.
  24. Little guys in the NFL seem to get it the worst. Great athletes who are fun to watch and shine in college end up in the pro arena's among the heavy hitters and they don't belong out there. Getting crushed by an nfl LB or strong safety that has 50 plus pounds on you WILL end up injuring you (duh). In some cases, like Randle El's end around plays, you may end up getting slammed by a guy almost twice your weight. How is it a surprise that these dudes have lifelong effects from that? I hope I'm wrong but the Daryl Talley $150k "help me" fundraiser has probably been noticed by lots of retired fan faves around the country. Expect Randle El to have a fan donation thing going soon, if he doesn't already.
  25. Pegula's can tell the league they're fine with the current stadium and there's nothing the NFL can do to force a new stadium. I love how Roger has let up on pushing the issue. If I'm Terry I recognize the value and tradition of tailgating and keep it alive for the fans regardless of where I choose to build. I would tighten up a few parking lots with some more security, reasonable new rules like a better garbage disposal plan, a memo on how to have sex before the game inside your car instead of up against it, fire safety 101 etc. I think the people saying its gonna be a dome with parking garages and no tailgating are the ones that were sure the Bills were getting sold and moved a few years ago--they'll assume the worst until they actually see it happen. Personally I like my 74 inch tv and the whole family over for the Bills games every Sunday, football throw at halftime in the front yard, 2nd tv on red zone, no traffic, great seats for all and lots of food and drink, even after halftime.
