Yeah... we did those underwater laps too and we also did them in the buff. Not at the same school but I'm thinking that was the routine most of the "athletic directors" used back then... maybe that kind of stuff was in their Teacher's Manuals? Although I loved being in the water swimming wasn't one of my favorite things... just splashing around and playing water related games was always a blast for me. Anyhoo... you would have blown my doors off in the underwater thing! I could make it all the way to the other end holding my breath... but just barely. Now I'm in my 70's with chronic COPD from smoking for more than 50 years... just thinking about holding my breath makes me hunt down my puffer just in case :)

Then you'd hate the hell outa me I guess? Back in the olden days of school in the mid 60's our gym instructor made everybody climb the ropes and the poles all the way to the top and touch the metal hanger up there before they could come back down. At the end of the week he'd hold races that I always won because I'd just go hand over hand all the way up and never used my feet. I could get all the way to the top, touch the metal hanger and be back down on the mat before almost all of the other guys got to the top. NOTE: I'm not bragging here... that's pretty much the only "great" accomplishment I ever made in gym class during junior & senior high school :)

I have no idea but I doubt it. If the old man wasn't willing to give up the Pontillo name when he sold the business I have serious doubts that he'd give up the Pontillo recipe.

You're not mistaken... the original one is still on East Main St in Batavia but it's not owned by the Pontillo family anymore. The new owners couldn't talk the old man into keeping the Pontillo name when they bought the place so it's called "Batavia's Original Pizzaria" now.

The wife and I did a 3 day "weekend getaway" to Cleveland a little over 15 years ago to check out both places. We arrived at our hotel in Cleveland late Thursday evening so we hit the R&R HOF early Friday morning thinking it would only take a few hours to see everything of interest and then we'd head on to Canton afterwards and spend Friday night there but the R&R HOF is WAY bigger than we'd imagined it to be so we ended up spending the entire day there on Friday and we still didn't see everything. There were several areas we couldn't access as they were in the progress of changing the displays around for several groups which I've heard is a regular never ending process there. We had a nice dinner in the restaurant of the hotel we were staying at and our waiter overheard us talking about maybe checking out a Comedy Club that wasn't very far from the hotel and he told us the hotel provided free shuttle service to anywhere in the downtown area so we jumped on that opportunity and went to a comedy club (which was also something we both wanted to do.) By the time we got back to the hotel around 10:30 Friday evening there was a message from a family member notifying us there had been a death in the immediate family Thursday afternoon so we ended up heading back home Saturday morning instead and we never made it out of Cleveland. Maybe we'll make it to Canton this summer now that the Boss will also be joining me in retirement pretty soon?

I guess I'm a super-mutt as not one of my grandparents were born in the USA. Both of my grandparents on my father's side were born in Poland and on my mother's side one was from Ireland and one was from Wales. As a matter of fact my father was born in Poland too but they all came over here when he was only 3 years old. I remember my grandmother from Wales regularly ribbing my grandfather that he was just an "Irishman wannabe" because his parents moved from Ireland to Wales shortly after he was born.

Okie-Dokie... thanks Augie. I'm gonna have to guess it's a browser issue then? By any chance are there a lot of graphics on page 2... like "X" or F-Book entries?

Every time I open page 2 of this topic my browser completely locks up and I have to force a close on it using Task Manager... is anybody else experiencing this? It's not my computer for sure as I'm having the same issue on my wife's computer too. To be clear... this is only happening on page 2 of this topic... nowhere else.

We're fairly close on the family thing... both of my parents were married twice, both of my two brothers were also married twice and so was I. The only one in the family that was married only once was my sister. It makes a big difference if you find the right one though... I've been with this one for 48 years now and we've been married for 43 of them. I swore I'd never get married again after the first one but after dating my present wife for a couple of months I found out that some of them aren't moronic lunatics!

Are you really that stupid or have you just spent your entire life in a snow-free environment like your son? "No unnecessary travel" is pretty much self-explanatory... it means don't go out on the roads unless it's necessary. If the big wheels want to create a "travel ban" due to the weather then that means there's no driving at all... anywhere... for any reason! A "travel ban" would mean you could get arrested for driving to work... "no unnecessary travel" means stay off of the roads unless you have a valid reason to be on them... as in going to or from work! I spent 18 years of my life as a Professional Truck Driver running the entire east coast from Maine to Miami... anywhere east of the Mississippi river actually... and both of those meanings meant exactly the same thing in every state I've ever driven through. Strike 3 Dude... I'm done attempting to educate you!

I call this more of your bullsh*t that's what I call it. My cousin lives on a southwestern suburb of the city (Norfleet) and he drove to work in a northeastern suburb of the city (Bradfordville) and back home EVERY SINGLE DAY! He said they were "advising no unnecessary travel" but there was never a travel ban. So here you go again with some more of your sky is falling crap... nobody... including the "local government"... You need to figure out which side of your mouth to talk out of then Dude! In the first chapter you said TALLAHASSEE was snowed in for a week... now in this chapter of the story it's just the school was closed for a week? There's a mighty big difference between a city being "snowed in" and a school being closed... but I'm sure you were well aware of that when you were letting us all know about the sky falling. Your son is a lifetime Floridian... that's why he couldn't go anywhere. My cousin is originally from western NY and he had zero problems getting around in the entire Tallahassee area including a nine mile drive each way to work and back home again every single day ! It's no wonder I've seen so many people in this thread tell you that you have no clue what you're talking about!

Wow... snowed in for a week? Talk about some extreme exaggerations! Tallahassee must be one heluva HUGE city... I also have family there and spoke with them a couple of times that week and they weren't "snowed in" for even a day let alone a week in the part of Tallahassee that they live! He said it was tough getting around but being from western NY originally he didn't have any problems at all... it was the morons that had never seen snow before that were causing the problems.

Looks staged to me. Whatever that little wad was that he finally hurled out onto the hood of the car didn't look big enough to block his airway. Also... there were a lot of vehicles going by and it's a bit strange that none of them would stop to help what looks like some young Dude wrestling with a cop. Edit: I guess there were only two vehicles that went by... thought I saw more than that the first time I watched it.

43 years married plus we "lived in sin" for 5 years before getting married so we've been together for 48 years total. It's kinda funny... my wife's mother wasn't real happy about the living together thing for quite a while and then at the dinner table on Thanksgiving day a few years after we were married she said looking back at all of their friend's kids that had gotten divorced after a short marriage that maybe that living together first thing might not be such a bad idea after all. I guess I should add that I was married for 7 torturous years to my high school sweetheart starting not long after graduating high school before stumbling across the real woman I'm happily married to now!

I'll definitely be trying that out... there's a spot for the bag right next to the bottle of "Gentleman Jack" I keep on the freezer door.

Being a retired Systems Administrator for a large (unnamed) corporation employing over a thousand users with computers and servers at all six locations in different cities on the east coast... I ain't swallowin one drop of this "story" either. Not all of us were born yesterday or fell off of a turnip truck my friend.
