Hey old guys, it's my turn and I want some advice...
RichStadiumGuy replied to Just Jack's topic in Off the Wall
No... I wasn't "semi awake" I was totally awake with just a "local" and talking to the Dr while looking at the screen watching the scope. One of the marvels of medicine I guess but I never felt a thing other than when the scope contacted the area where the mesh is at. I've had numerous surgeries in my 72 years of life so far and I prefer being knocked out too but I thought being able to watch would be pretty cool when it was offered... and it was. -
Ha... almost 50... you're still a pup! I'll be turning 73 next month with 4 major knee surgeries over the years behind me. I'd give my left (useless) nugget to "bounce back" like I could when I was 50 again!

Like everybody else has said... the day before is by FAR worse than the exam itself. Plan your time after starting the drinking regime carefully so you're always just a few steps away from a toilet. As far as the anesthesia goes... I've had three of them now and I was wide awake and watching the scope on the screen through all three of them. Only once did I feel anything at all and it was when the scope was right at a spot where a hernia repair was repaired with mesh and they halted for a moment while they increased the amount of whatever the pain stuff was that they were injecting through the needle in my arm and all was good again. Cake walk... you got this! -

Well at least the cops got a description of her but unfortunately "ugly" could describe more than just that one person. I'd have to think they'd have a camera around there being close to the door? -

You guys whining about the weather in the fall are nuts! My birthday is in the second week of November and for as far back as I can remember over these 70 some years I've been around the weather has historically been pretty much nice during the first half of November. I've relocated some snow on Halloween more than once and then cooked out on the patio just a few days later! Other than a few unpredictable short-lived storms over the years the REAL crappy weather that's here to hang around for a while doesn't arrive until mid to late December.

Can anyone remember anything from their pre school?
RichStadiumGuy replied to Another Fan's topic in Off the Wall
To the best of my knowledge "pre-school" didn't exist back in 1956? However... I have a black & white photo that my mother took of me on my first day of kindergarten in 1957 and I remember exactly zero of anything that went down. My earliest recollections are from the 1959 era around the time my father bought his first brand new Buick. Man... those fins were a sight to behold for a little kid! -
I guess you'd have to ask Samsung that question but smart tvs were just becoming a thing when we bought this one... and I DO have a Firestick. So how does a Firestick get me HBO?

Thanks for the idea but I feel a sense of accomplishment just making phone calls on the damned thing!
-
Thanks! I'll have the Boss give them a call. I have no clue what our account login would be... I'm old and smart enough to leave that stuff for the more intelligent part of the marriage :)
-
OK... thanks for the get-back... appreciate it! I guess I'm screwed since I don't own a Smart TV and watching stuff like that on a phone seems pretty silly to me when I have a 55 inch Plasma TV sitting there.

I've got a few questions here if you don't mind? Which Spectrum "package" do you have and what channel are you getting HBO Max on? Also... what city is your Spectrum account associated with? I've got Spectrum from the Rochester area but I don't see any HBO channels at all listed in my guide. If I type in "HBO" in the search box and choose a channel in the list that comes up all I see is a prompt to upgrade on each of them. So... I'm guessing that you're getting it "free" because it's included in the particular package you're subscribed to and paying for.

Only thing I've been able to come up with so far is it's an "upper body injury". There's lots of things to injure in the "upper body"... it would be helpful if they would be just a tad more informative. At least tell us exactly where the "upper body" begins... my guess would be anything above the waistline?

The place I tended bar at had a bowling machine that used a puck like on shuffleboards instead of a ball and I'd play that damned thing most of the night if it was slow at the bar... I have no idea how many 300 games I racked up. The owner of the place left the key for the change box in the till and told me to just take out a bunch of quarters before my shift started so I actually never spent any of my own money playing it.

Lloyd Howell, NFLPA Executive Director, Resigns
RichStadiumGuy replied to Draconator's topic in The Stadium Wall
I've never heard of the guy myself but from the way it's worded (my leadership has become a distraction) it sounds like there was a bit of head butting going down. -
And yet you "wasted your time" responding to it. Ya know when ya point one finger at someone your four other fingers are pointing back at yourself... right?

Your Mount Rushmore for bands from Buffalo
RichStadiumGuy replied to XXXtraAnchovies's topic in Off the Wall
I thought they were still playing but like I said I was never into country music so they're not anybody I'd have kept up with. As far as Primitive Scene/Devils Rock goes I only went there a few times as I worked from 7 pm to 7 am six nights a week between 1977 and 1980 and having a night off on a weekend was a rarity! How about Nightlife... does that name ring any bells with you? They were one of the few really hot bands around here for a while in the early 80's. When I confronted a couple of the guys in the band about doing our wedding one night they checked their schedule and both of them said almost in harmony "might as well... about half of our regular crowd will be there anyhow" :) Being a bartender at one of the area hot spots back then we drew a lot of the same crowd that Nightlife played in front of. -

Yeah... small world for sure but that's not him and I'd rather not put my friend's name out there... he passed away at a way too young age of 26 back in 1981. If I'm not mistaken Bill Pitcher and Bill McDonald along with his wife Kay got together and formed the band "Ghost Riders". The two McDonalds are well established in the music scene playing all over the country at some point in time and they wrote a lot of stuff too. It's been a really long time but I'm pretty sure they were nothing but hard core country music and I never saw them myself. I'm not sure but I think both of the Bills might still be doing gigs... maybe not together but separately? I don't care much for country so I haven't heard anything about either one of them in a very long time. -

Talas live at the Primitive Scene... aka Devils Rock. The last time I went there was to watch boxing matches! A very good friend of mine was the sound guy for Talas for a while and I used to get the opportunity of hanging out with "the guys" when I attended their gigs. There was also a place near Lockport that I can't remember the name of right now that they played at occasionally in the later part of the 70's. They were without a doubt one of the hottest local bands around at the time that's for sure! There was another band named "The Nightlife Pickers" for a while and then they shortened it to just "Nightlife" in the late 70's and early 80's that did a slew of gigs all around the Batavia area. All of the guys in that band were good friends of mine and we lucked out with their scheduling and got them to play at our wedding reception in the fall of 82. I'm fairly certain we must have bumped into one another likely more than once from reading a bunch of your posts concerning the Batavia area. -

Looks like some of you NYSEG customers (depending on your location) are in for a rebate. https://www.thedailynewsonline.com/news/nyseg-customers-to-get-rebate-after-settlement/article_8290bc78-67a1-434d-8634-03fd52f84a0d.html -
I don't know what "good things" you've heard about T-Mobile but my neighbor has it and he can't wait for his contract to expire in November. They might be great around the metropolitan areas but they flat out suck out in the boonies where I live. I see him walking around out in his yard frequently trying to get a signal and he told me about the only time he even TRIES to use his cell at home is for a return call to someone that called him. He'd really like to dump his landline but he doesn't dare to until he has a reliable cell.

They're fantastic but unfortunately their coverage area is fairly small... mostly within mid-sized to larger cities but that's about it at the moment. I have a friend that lives in the city that has Empire and I'm sooooooo jealous but when I called there to check availability in my "rural" area I was told we're not even in their expansion plans yet.
