Miller is annoying. He’ll be cut in two years and will have never felt like a Bill.

It could be if it weren’t so obviously scripted.

Buffalo Bills training staff to be honored at ESPYs

They should’ve been the focus all along. -
Surprised Rose held on this long. My weekend would really take flight seeing a few of the Around the Horn clowns axed.
-
Are they open to suggestions?

Playoff offense is just as much an issue as defense
Airseven replied to Mikie2times's topic in The Stadium Wall
Bottom line is that Allen imploded against the Texans (‘19) and Chiefs (‘20) and was ineffective against the Dolphins and Bengals (‘22). He was terrific in ‘21, but McDermott wasted it. It’s frustrating how competitive the Bills have become but yet the end result continues to be disastrous somehow. -
Did we do enough? I think we are getting there.

They were saved by a soft schedule. All true. They've addressed depth, not talent. By this point, Beane should have earmarked a first round pick and big money free agent for the OL. Instead it's deck chairs. -
Imagine if the Bills had a good running game, good offensive line, good WR depth, and seasoned play caller! But they don’t. This is about Allen. The unfortunate reality is that Allen’s elite traits are athleticism and arm strength which, on their own, don’t make a good QB. A guy like Mahomes, for example, has elite vision and accuracy which can compensate for potential weaknesses. Allen needs to be fine-tuned, controlled, and supported. This includes your run game and misdirection.

Allen needs to improve his poise, accuracy, timing, touch, footwork, ball security, decision making, and overall consistency of execution.

Not yet. The concern with this Bills regime is trajectory. Under McDermott/Beane, they improved, became a playoff contender, and advanced from wildcard round to the Chiefs matchups. Last year was a step back and one wonders if Allen-to-Davis at :13 in the ‘22 divisional round was this regime’s peak. Now that they’re back in cap jail, settling for recycled one-year vets to fill out the roster, continuing to prioritize DL over OL, not seeing development from draftees, and seemingly everyone else in the AFC is improving…it’s a fair question.
-
Is this true? I assume this is true. Wow.
-
Agreed. His point was inane…completely lacking context and nuance. McDermott and Beane have been successful in Buffalo. I can’t imagine anyone debating that. But that doesn’t mean they’re the right fit to move forward. It’s one thing to improve from laughing stock to playoff contender. It’s quite another to improve from playoff contender to champion.
-
I agree “we could do a lot worse” seems to be the standard. And if you subscribe to that then it can’t be argued. So be it. But Allen has already proven he can’t deliver a championship by elevating the players around him and carrying the load. The guy’s brain explodes due to the OL (which continues to be an afterthought for Beane). Something needs to change with personnel or play design.
-
They turned the franchise around and deserve credit for that. But they haven’t been “true SB contenders.” Based on their various degrees of playoff implosion, there’s still a brick wall separating legit SB contention. The question is whether the current direction of the roster, cap situation, and defense-oriented outlook will get them any closer.
-
It’s not about failing to reach expectations. It’s about HOW they failed which falls on McDermott. I still believe McDermott’s seat gets hotter if the Bills get blown out again in the playoffs as opposed to missing the wildcard cut at 10-7.
-
Emulate? The point is that these extensions are gestures not commitments as previously exemplified around the league. McDermott and Beane don’t have a multi-year free pass if the team continues to sputter.
-
I was shocked he hung around in the league. Good for him.
-
Nice gesture by Pegula. But according to the Cardinals, these extensions aren’t iron clad commitments…thankfully.

GUILTY GUILTY GUILTY!!!

Why would Cowherd discuss middling players like McGovern, Shell, Sherfield, Harty, Shakir, Ford, etc. on a national program? Floyd would be somewhat notable if he was enhancing the defense instead of replacing Miller. I assume he mentioned the Broncos OL because McGlinchey and Powers are actually legitimate starters.

Hopkins released by Arizona (7/16: signed by Titans)
Airseven replied to HappyDays's topic in The Stadium Wall
Chatter on AZ radio is that in addition to his contract demands, Hopkins is adamant about practicing less during the week (he apparently doesn’t practice Wednesdays?) which is turning off potential suitors. -
I stopped reading at “EPA.” But I think the point is that it’s not realistic in today’s game to expect to win a championship by featuring a shut down defense.
