  1. I thought the same. But then again, this staff prioritizes familiarity so perhaps the new guy behind Settle at this point is perfunctory.
  2. Springboarding off the first official depth chart: QB - J. Allen, K. Allen (2) RB - Cook, Harris, Murray (3) FB - Gilliam (1) WR - Diggs, Davis, Sherfield, Harty, Shakir, Shorter (6) TE - Knox, Kincaid, Morris (3) OT - Dawkins, Brown, Shell, Doyle (4) IOL - Morse, McGovern, Bates, Torrence, Edwards (5) DE - Rousseau, Epenesa, Floyd, Basham (4 - Miller PUP) DT - Oliver, Jones, Phillips, Settle, Ford (5) LB - Milano, Dodson, Bernard, Williams, Spector, Matakevich (6) CB - White, Jackson, Johnson, Benford, Elam, Neal (6) S - Poyer, Hyde, Rapp, Lewis, Hamlin (5) K - Bass (1) P - Martin (1) LS - Ferguson (1) Notable cuts: Barkley, Isabella, Sternberger, Quessenberry, Boettger, Lawson, Klein, Marlowe
  3. It's only a starting point, but I don't expect much to change from this. Thoughts: - still concerned about WR depth especially seeing Shorter behind Davis - interested if/when Torrence overtakes Bates - 9th OL spot is a battle assuming they don't keep 10 - Miller as DE1 should be drowning in asterisks... - ...although DL looks so much better overall with Floyd as 2nd team - C/B/2 is pretty funny (depressing) - LB is a hellscape - Lewis acknowledged as S is interesting
  4. It doesn't make sense to extend Davis now if you think he can be replaced by a round 2-3 draft choice (particularly for a cap-strapped team). To bet on substantial improvement to the point he becomes irreplaceable isn't prudent. Beane doesn't have that luxury.
  5. Is Kincaid a TE or WR or "weapon" or Kelce or Kupp? I'm losing track on here. Keep in mind, Beane scrambled to trade up and take him due to the run on WRs. I doubt he was the top target. He's a good prospect, but his impact on the offense will likely be subtle. At least initially.
  6. It’s wild how fans/posters get so quickly attached to guys like Sternberger and Isabella. It may be the shiny object thing.
  7. Not 3 safeties. I might keep Marlowe. Or peruse the cut heap at the end of August. Not the norm. And good point. Boettger could get axed from this projection.
  8. Not bad. But cut Sternberger, Hamlin, and Phillips and reconsider your PS options, including Gilliam.
  9. I’ve been discussing what was meant by the coordinator’s quote. And you think the issue is that the coordinator hasn’t watched Allen enough to reach your fan conclusion? Fine, let’s go with that. But it doesn’t matter that every QB has bad games. What matters is how many bad, or inconsistent, games Allen still has as a passer while you tout him as elite.
  10. The point in the quote is consistency. Your point is that Allen has had some elite passing games. Those are different. As we know, he’s also had games where he’s out of whack all day with timing, reads, and accuracy.
  11. I think the point was that because so much of Allen’s game is predicated on running, physicality, and overall athleticism, it bumps him out of the elite “passer” tier for this particular list. That if he had to be a pure passer (and couldn’t run), he wouldn’t execute with enough consistency to be considered tier 1. I’m not sure why that’s so offensive.
  12. I’ve been waiting to hear something about that elbow again. Feels like only a matter of time.
  13. Nothing wrong with the quote. Allen belongs in “tier 2.” And yes, the issue with him remains inconsistency, primarily related to accuracy and decision making.
  14. Assume Rousseau, Floyd, Oliver, Jones are starters. Ford + Settle rotate inside. Epenesa + Lawson rotate outside. I agree - shop Basham. Perhaps still young and versatile enough to have 5th-6th round value to somebody. Cut Phillips as he's the largest cap savings of the fringe group. Miller to PUP. That's eight. I've liked Ankou in limited action, but don't see a path forward for him. Assume he'll go the way of Bryant who, of course, I also liked.
  15. Oliver is on the field. It’s just that you don’t notice him. I’m not getting tricked again with the Epenesa “dailed in” at training camp fluff. I still get excited about him…don’t know why.
  16. What’s your point? That he’s healthy or good?
  17. My Rocky rankings: I II IV III V Rocky Balboa
  18. Indeed. Indeed. Incomprehensible that Beane didn’t prepare for this inevitability. Shell? Quessenberry? Doyle? My goodness.
  19. What’s supposed to happen? Fake moral outcry? He should be cut.
  20. Who exactly is battling here? Dodson should be the starter based on familiarity and lack of options.
  21. They're not worse. The concern is there's no significant upgrades across the roster, with the possible exception of Kincaid fulfilling some of these wild expectations. The Bills are dependent on: 1) aging players to overcome injury; and 2) other important starters to surpass recent ability and performance. Cap issues + weak drafts are a challenging predicament.
  22. I still think Shakir figures it out and avoids becoming another “Beane special.” It happens at the start of nearly every camp.
  23. These Allen “injury” updates are “click bait.” If he spilled water down his chest and wiped it off with his hand, these guys would yam about a possible chest contusion.
