  1. What kind of record does Matt Haack have on trick plays? As has been mentioned Brian Moorman was very athletic and capable of executing a variety of trick plays. Punters often have some real athletic ability. They are, of course, typically used as holders on kickoff because they receive long snaps as part of their trade. Certainly with the proliferation of the shotgun formation, QBs receive the ball on shotgun snaps all the time. It would be reasonable to put them in the role of holder. Holders might be at slight risk of injury, but they don't get hurt often. Receivers could probably make good holders too. After all, they have to catch all kinds of balls, sometimes in very difficult situations. Some of Buffalo's receivers have experience with trick plays, including throwing the ball. Personally, I figure having the punter is holder is normally a sound practice. I don't have any problem with it.
  2. I don't associate football with eating whatsoever. I eat what I eat regardless of whether or not there is a game.
  3. Steve Tasker had an interesting take on Butler's comments. Essentially, he thought Butler is terrified of the prospect of Josh Allen running when a play breaks down because he is a wild card you can't account for. His comments represent an effort to try and use pre game comments to lessen the risk of Josh Allen making big plays with his legs.
  4. Really, are there some fans who are actually upset at Josh for fooling around? He's known how to have fun since he first joined the Bills. He's also one of the hardest workers and is known to be driven by his desire to win. My impression of the Bills is very different from my perception of the New England Patriots. Belichick demands work ethic and discipline from his players, but I've never had the sense that players really know how to have fun or that they really care for each other. McDermott expects discipline and work ethic, but the Bills have also created an environment where players really seem to care about each other, enjoy being together and have fun. It's all good. For years New England was able to lure quality free agents at a discount because they wanted a chance to get a Super Bowl ring. What if Buffalo could offer that, AND an environment where players can be real people caring for other real people and enjoying it. It should only get easier to sell free agents on coming to Buffalo.
  5. I think Basham will get more limited reps than others at DE because he seems not to be as far along. The rest of them will be in a heavy rotation methinks.
  6. I saw the news and googled "Getzenberg" to learn this. I was going to post it, but as usual got beaten. It was poetic justice. We should have known it was coming.
  7. If you google "bad radio" you'll get pictures of the former players who serve as hosts on the Instigators.
  8. Jim Kelly was more likeable, at least late in his career, but Brady's collection of Super Bowl rings says he is better.
  9. Tyrod has crafted a nice career out of mediocrity given that the number of good to great QBs is limited.
  10. I hope he purchased a nice long term service contract for it. I've known a few Jeep owners and every one found their vehicles to to be an unreliable mechanical nightmare.
  11. I think I remember some news about some off field stuff with Bennett. If he did it, I hope she gets a judgment.
  12. It's not hard to argue that either the Buccaneers or the Chiefs will be the Super Bowl winner. The reasoning for labeling Buffalo as a fringe Super Bowl team ("They can't beat Pat Mahomes") is infantile at best. Buffalo has been developing and improving since Sean McDermott arrived in Buffalo. They weren't good enough last January and went out and made their defense better. The differences on the defensive line are significant. There may be some incremental improvements elsewhere on the team. It's much harder for a team that is on top to keep making improvements. Mostly, they are just trying to hold on to what they have.
  13. I'll settle for having an elite QB. I don't need him to walk on water, and I doubt he can heal the blind referee.
  14. I don't know that 1,000 yards is impossible for a Bills running back, but it wouldn't be easy. With 17 games, it will take just shy of 60 yards per game. That's not an outrageous number, but it would probably take a few games where Singletary gets hot and just runs wild.
  15. If your criteria is weighted toward the mental challenge, of course it's QB, and it's not close. If you're talking about enduring physical beatings, then you can debate four or five different positions, including running back and nose tackle. There are a couple positions that have unique challenges. A tight end is challenged by having to be both a skill position player and enduring the physical challenge of blocking big men. Cornerbacks face the challenge of having to react to extremely fast and athletic WRs in an era where the rules all favor the offensive player.
  16. Yeah, Josh can and will ad lib when a play doesn't happen according to plan, but he'll stick to the plan when it's working.
  17. Frankly, Josh Allen is smarter than Brett Favre, and it's not close. I think Josh loves Brian Daboll's scheme and committed to playing within it. As he matures, he is playing with more and more discipline. Favre had amazing arm talent, but never played with great discipline. I think intelligence and the trend toward disciplined play within a system that caters to Allen's talent give Josh Allen a higher ceiling than Favre.
  18. I don't know. I think he heeds to focus on his role as gunner. We don't want to put too much on his plate. And of course Stevenson will be available beginning in October.
  19. I was trying to be nice, but that's about the size of it.
  20. Rodgers has long had something of a prickley personality. I understand he pretty much disowned his family years ago. Maybe Josh will become more of a diva over time, but I don't know that it's written in stone. I agree Josh makes friends easily. That's part of what is making him beloved as teammate by the rest of the team. I don't know that Aaron Rodgers inspires warm feelings on the part of all his teammates. Some love him as a leader and for the things he can do as a QB, but Josh gets that kind of admiration AND the warmth of friendship.
