  1. This very unfortunate. Two cities that supported their teams should not be losing them. This is bad for the NFL. Does this mean that there will be more movement of teams going forward or was this only about LA? I think this gives Pegula at least some leverage with NYS to at least pay for something related to a new stadium (such as improvements to transportation/roads), but I have no idea whether he would use it.
  2. Yikes. Does not seem to be a positive development and raises all kinds of questions.
  3. Very disappointed. This team needed a fresh look at the football operations, if not a new GM.
  4. I agree about DW's drafting. I have a hard time giving him much credit for Watkins since he gave up a 1st round pick and a fourth to move up to draft him. The CK pick has really hurt us. That was a strong draft, and it was a position of need, and now CK can't even beat out Mills. It also has hurt that Richardson and Miller have not played well at RG. I think the Darby pick saved Whaley because his drafting track record is otherwise quit poor.
  5. I do not think the retooling from the current group of defensive players to a new group that fits Ryan's scheme will be quick or easy, particularly since we do not have cap flexibility. I would be surprised if it can be done effectively in just one off-season.
  6. Given the failure to meet expectations, I would not be surprised if a lot of what Sully, Vic and even La Canfora reported was true. Who knows, but I would expect internal disagreements about players and coaching to happen when the team is losing and people try to protect their jobs and their decisions. A lot of money was spent by our new owners last offseason and expectations were not met. The focus should be on why the team regressed and fixing things for the future. Why are people wasting time getting angry at reporters and so-called NFL insiders? The Bills have not made the playoffs in 16 years. Shouldn't that be what we are all frustrated about?
  7. So Whaley and Rex will have another year. I would be more optimistic if the Bills had more cap space so they could revamp the defense with the players that Ryan thinks he needs. The Bills can always release players (such as M. Williams), but finding the necessary replacements will be tough, and I doubt draft picks will be able to start immediately on defense given that the current group of veteran defensive players had a difficult time picking up Ryan's system. Seems like we have a lot of needs. Not sure if this really can be fixed in one off season. I hope I am wrong, but I have a feeling we will be debating whether Whaley and Ryan deserve another season around this time next year.
  8. I would like to see Tyrod run the two minute drill efficiently and effectively and show the ability to consistently throw with success over the middle. I have watched Brock a bit, and he seems to be able to do these two things now. Since Tyrod has amazing athletic ability, if he can improve in these two areas in the near term, he would be the choice.
  9. I think he may have wanted to consult, but going public the way he did with his interest and comments about the team may have soured the Pegulas and any interest they may have had in bringing him in. Just a guess.
  10. In the context of 16 seasons without making the playoffs and spending as much as we did last offseason on free agents and to sign our own players, this season was a disaster, not a disappointment.
  11. I don't think Polian did himself any favors if he wanted to become a consultant to the Bills by talking to Carucci and giving his views on the team in such a public way. It is unfortunate, since I think he would have been very helpful to our new owners. I hope someone is brought in at a senior level (consultant, czar or whatever), because it is needed after 16 years of not making the playoffs.
  12. Usually I am optimistic to start each new season, but if it is status quo with the Bills, I think it will be tough. We are not in great salary cap shape, and I am not sure how attractive the Bills will be this offseason when we cannot afford to overpay for free agents. We also have a bunch of our own free agents, and I am not sure we can sign both Glenn and Incognito. Our draft choice will be in the middle of the first round, so we will not have a shot at the top talent in the draft. Next year's schedule looks much tougher than this year. I understand that a lot can change between now and the start of next season, but as of this moment, I am not particularly hopeful that next season will be better.
  13. I have watched a lot of NFL games over the years, and Moore's performance may rank in the top 10 of worst performances by an NFL QB who started and finished a full game.
  14. Starting to feel like no changes will be made this offseason in the front office or coaching staff, not even a football czar. That would be unfortunate.
  15. I think it is really hard to assess Whaley's performance the last two years and his role in the front office in terms of decision making prior to that time. Even if you give him all of the credit for recent drafting and player acquisitions, i am not sure why there is such strong support for him on this board. We continue to miss the playoffs and I do not think there is a lot to be optimistic about for next year given our cap situation and need to, at a minimum, retool on defense. I am trying to be objective here, but I think the best argument that can be made for Whaley is that a GM should have at least three years to turn things around. Maybe the better argument is that after 16 years without making the playoffs and new ownership, a housecleaning is in order.
  16. The d-line may have excellent talent, but apparently the Bills do not have the right personnel to run Ryan's scheme. Subtract M. Williams and with K. Williams having injury issues, the d-line is not elite.
  17. Is Karlos going to get most of the touches on Sunday? I also have him in my league, and I am worried about Gilliesiee getting a bunch of touches as well, particularly since Karlos has had a shoulder injury. I could play White on New England, but he only seems to catch passes.
  18. After another disappointing season, will it be status quo with the front office and coaching staff? We have a number of free agents and limited cap space this offseason, even if we release Williams, McKelvin and Harvin. If Ryan needs new personnel on defense, can this really be accomplished in one offseason? Releasing Mario Williams will create another hole. Unfortunately, I am not sure we can count on Henderson and A. Williams returning next season (but I hope this is not the case). Will we have a better team next year?
  19. Well, that is more than depressing. I am not particularly confident in the current mix.
  20. Thanks, JW. What does this mean in terms of getting a football czar or consultant? Is that still on the table or likely, even if it is not Polian?
  21. Many posters were calling for a consultant to be brought in years ago. It would have made so much sense to have retained a consultant or football czar last year when the Pegulas bought the team and Marrone left. The need continues and has grown, and we really need a fresh look at the football operations.
  22. I am getting a bit tired of all of this drama. Players speaking out, Polian giving his thoughts, and reports of friction between the coaches and the GM. The leaks are also out of control, and I would like to see some semblance of order restored. If it means a czar and/or a new GM, so be it. Let them figure out what to do about Rex and the coaching staff.
  23. We may have nine players who are 30+, but it does not seem they are the types to provide leadership.
  24. I read the article. Wow, Polian did not hold back. More things that will cause more division. Interesting points about the o-line (aging and not athletic), a roster with too many 30+ year old players, and Taylor not being the long-tern answer. Not sure what to make of this mess, but things seem to be spinning out of control.
