  1. Not interested in any of the names we are hearing so far (Lynn, Austen and Goodwin). Why aren't we going to speak to any of the more well known potential candidates?
  2. What is pfcentral? Is it reputable?
  3. I want the Bills to interview some other candidates and not just announce that Lynn will be the head coach. The two coordinators from NE, Shanahan and Coughlin is where I would start.
  4. La Canfora's most recent tweet about the Bills suggests the Bills are finalizing things with Lynn. Have not heard a peep about potential head coaching candidates that are scheduled to meet with the Bills while other teams have interviews scheduled with potential candidates.
  5. If Whaley wants Lynn to be HC, why did he send him out alone for the press conference last week and then have him start EJ in the final game? If Whaley want us all to get excited about Lynn, he did about the worst possible thing to the guy by handling things this way. Not a good press conference and then a poor effort from the team today. A less than successful introduction to Lynn, who deserved better even if I think we should clean house and get a HC from outside of the current coaching group.
  6. Sorry, but what we see from the outside suggests dysfunction. The way Marrone left, the hiring and then firing of Ryan and the leaks all support the current narrative of infighting and dysfunction. The recent record of the Bills is a slight improvement, but we have not had a particularly tough schedule over the last few years and we continue to lose to teams with winning records. It is hard to give the front office the benefit of the doubt at this point.
  7. After reading the blurb from La Canfora about Lynn and Whaley, I am starting to feel like that the current mission for hiring a head coach is to find someone who will agree to prove Whaley right about EJ/Jones and trading up for Sammy.
  8. I really don't get this reflex to rip the press when they rip the Bills. 17 years and counting with no playoffs. The Bills and their management are getting what they deserve until they start winning on a consistent basis and make the playoffs. The overt dysfunction with the Bills continues and the destructive leaks are merely a symptom. There is no one we should be defending at this point, other than the Pegulas for keeping the Bills in Buffalo.
  9. Not a very impressive list. None with head coaching experience. Strange, compared to some of the other candidates that may be available (Coughlin, Shanahan, and the NE coordinators).
  10. Seems like it will be Lynn. If it is not, and Whaley pushes EJ (assuming he is re-signed) and/or Jones as next year's starting QB and taking into account the issues Whaley has had with the last two head coaches, not sure how strong the interest will be in our HC position by Coughlin, Shanahan or the NE coordinators.
  11. Are we going to have to live through Cardale next year as the starter? Defense is not good enough to do that. Does not seem like the right recipe for win now.
  12. The Bills have been amazing over the last number of years in producing drama. I wish the team was more entertaining during the season with their play, but never a dull moment. Seriously. From ownership issues (including Bon Jovi) to constant changes with coaches, it has been an incredible run. Would be nice to have some stability at the QB position and with the GM and HC (including staff). At least we have stability with the ownership of the team (even if they are learning on the job), which is the most important piece of all of this and for which I am most appreciative after worrying for years about what happens after RW. At some point in the future, it will all work.
  13. I think it will be Lynn or Austin.
  14. Is Lynn going to want this job after today? If I were him, I would be hoping that another team is interested.
  15. Seems that the decision to sit Taylor makes sense if it is really about Taylor and the injury clause. Does not necessarily mean that he will not be brought back. Could renegotiate his contract.
  16. It is odd that we have not heard from Whaley since Rex was fired (unless I missed an interview or other press interaction).
  17. Did not see the press conference, but I wonder if he wants the job after the season? If he gets other interviews, it may be interesting.
  18. The theory would be something like this: Brandon and Whaley, assuming they are acting in a coordinated manner, want Lynn because other head coach candidates would want more power over personnel matters, which would erode the current powers shared by Brandon and Whaley. Lynn would be accepting of the current structure and would not challenge the roles of Brandon and Whaley.
  19. I hope you are right about the list of possible HC candidates, but any chance that the NE coordinators would really consider the HC position for the Bills? Not sure either would want to be in the same division as BB.
  20. Yikes. I hope this is not a one game audition for DC.
  21. Okay, I may have gone a bit overboard on the title, but I did not like the leaks and the criticisms of Ryan without any accountability for the members of the front office for this situation. I was not a Ryan supporter, but this whole thing was unpleasant and I don't think continuity is the answer under the current circumstances. Is it a conspiracy? Probably not, but clearly there are people with agendas and Whaley seems to have won the battle for now. Simply put, I do not have confidence in Whaley and I think the Bills would have been better served with a clean sweep of the head coach and front office.
  22. Not sure how the answer here can possibly be to turn to Whaley to head up the coaching search and then select someone already on the staff, but is seems it is going in this direction. Over the last number of weeks, Rex is blasted and Lynn gets glowing press. Someone leaks that Rex's demise is near, and that the talented roster is not playing up to its potential. Simultaneously, we only hear how Lynn will be a hot candidate for head coaching openings and after Ryan is fired, that Lynn is a strong contender. Something smells bad here. This feels very orchestrated. I think Whaley knows that hiring Lynn is the best result for Whaley. Prevents questions about the GM, the organization or the talent from potential coaching candidates. I don't like it and it is depressing. After 17 years of not making the playoffs, we deserve a real process and the best possible candidate. We will see.
  23. This sucks. We needed a fresh start, including a new GM.
  24. If it is Lynn, he will have a hard time attracting a quality DC candidate. I wonder if the other current coaches will remain or whether they will be released from their obligations following the final game.
  25. Seems pretty obvious what is going on here. Lynn gets elevated now so that he has the best (and maybe only) opportunity to become HC of the Bills. Whaley does not want a real and open process because he is concerned that the Pegulas will hear HC candidates raising issues about the GM (including what happens if he is dismissed), the organization and the talent. Whaley is trying to make the hiring of Lynn a fait accompli to protect his own position. All of this is supported by the positive articles and mentions that Lynn started getting over the last few weeks in the press. He was built up by some with an agenda to make this go more smoothly.
