  1. If they re-sign Glenn, he would be fine at LT, RT or even guard. I do not like Henderson or CK at either tackle position. We need to upgrade.
  2. He has not been very good at RT. I recognize that playing LT involves different/additional skills as compared to RT, but I also recall that Peters dominated at RT before being moved to LT.
  3. I agree that Whaley must have been in a tough situation with the new new owners and new HC, particularly since the new owners explored hiring a football "czar". I assume that it was Ryan who wanted Harvin and possibly Clay. Not sure about McCoy, but paying him as much as we are does not make much sense to me. If the Bills do not make the playoffs and Whaley's contract really is up after this year, I think it is very possible that he will not be re-signed.
  4. Bad signing by the Bills and a poor use of cap money.
  5. I think he has been somewhat disappointing so far, but the team has not had consistent QB play, so it is hard to tell. I also thought that the Bills going out and getting Harvin was some indication as to whether they thought that Woods was a true #2 WR.
  6. Losing RI would hurt, particularly since the Bills may need a left tackle if Glenn is not re-signed (or right tackle if they think they can move Henderson to left tackle). Trying to find a starting quality guard and tackle before next season will be tough with the cap issues and overall recent poor drafting of o-linemen.
  7. Need an upgrade from Henderson and CK. Interesting that both the prior coaching staff and this coaching staff talked up Henderson's talent and potential. After a season and half, you would think that it would show, but it hasn't. Henderson has a very poor rating from PFF and probably should not be a starting RT in the NFL.
  8. I think we can upgrade from Henderson. I keep hearing about his potential, but he has been pretty bad this year. He is young with a low cap number, so I hope he can show improvement during the rest of the season.
  9. I thought it was strange that the Pegulas did not have any senior advisers helping them with the football side of things after they purchased the Bills, particularly since they had retained excellent financial advisors during the sales process (Allen & Company).
  10. Is it true that Whaley's contract is up after this year? How do we know this? Assuming it is true, I think that if an extension has not been agreed to at this point, then no extension likely is forthcoming.
  11. I do not think the drafting has been very good, with some exceptions, including Darby. We should not give Whaley any credit for Watkins since he gave up a first round pick and a fourth round pick to move up and draft him. At that point of the draft, there is little chance that you will draft a bad player so I am not sure what draft expertise he showed by drafting Watkins. Darby, Brown and Alonso were very good picks. CK has been a bust in relation to where he was drafted in a very strong draft. The other guys have been disappointments to some degree.
  12. Why do I feel like we are heading down a path where Sammy is going to want out of Buffalo well before his contract expires? Unfortunately, given his agent and all of this stuff, I can see it happening.
  13. I think this shows why making the playoffs and having success this year was so important. When bad teams (i.e., the Bills) finally develop and acquire some talent, there can be a relatively small window to have success due to the salary cap and expiring contracts. We are in that window now, and in the offseason, we will face some tough decisions because of the salary cap. The Bills spent a lot last offseason to take their shot this season and so far it is not working out. All of this is without paying a QB typical starting QB money.
  14. I think Whaley is the most vulnerable, football czar or not. How attractive would the GM position be with cap issues and a requirement that you keep Rex? Not sure.
  15. I seem to recall that for EJ there were many reports that many teams had EJ at a third round or lower grade, but there is one other team that had interest maybe late in the first round (Philly?). For Watkins, I do not think there was any doubt that he was talented and carried a high first round grade, but some teams had higher draft grades on other WRs. I think that there was some surprise among other teams that the Bills were willing to give up as much as they did to move up in the draft.
  16. Do not forget about CK as a second round pick the year we traded up to get Sammy. My recollection is that Whaley wanted to keep the second round pick in that draft so he traded the first round pick for the next year. CK does not look like a starting caliber RT. Not a good pick to add to the issues noted with the use of the first round picks.
  17. Roman has helped improve the offense significantly. Not sure why EJ did not throw more to McCoy. He sure looked like he was open for most of the game coming out of the backfield.
  18. The Bills potentially have squandered three first round picks on EJ and Watkins. Add the below average play of CK (a second round pick), and you have early round talent that is not contributing or not available.
  19. I would get the best available GM. May be a difficult job to fill if one of the the requirements is to keep Ryan as HC.
  20. Not sure where there are short or long term positives. Short term, we have a losing record, we have lost three of four at home, we have a lot of injuries, and Rex and the defense have been disappointing. Long term, Rex has a long term contract, the Bills are up against the cap next year, and we have some decent players that will be free agents (e.g., Glenn and Bradham).
  21. The receiver was open. He threw it late.
  22. Should have been another interception. Lucky on that one.
  23. Glad they stopped them at the goal line, but a nine minute drive by the Jaguars?
  24. Whether you think EJ has future or not in the NFL, I think we can agree that at this point of his career, he is not accurate enough with his throws. It is a problem, and a problem he has had since joining the Bills. Is accuracy fixable? I have no idea, but I believe that he until he improves in this area and in his overall decision making, he is going to struggle in the NFL.
  25. I agree that the season has been disappointing so far, if not worse given the hype about our talent. If there is dysfunction in the Bills organization and the Bills finish .500 or worse, I think Whaley will be the one to go, particularly since there were efforts made to bring in a football czar after last season.
