  1. I think I remember from 2 years ago when Lamar Jackson inexplicably got the pro bowl over Allen, it came out that the big difference was the player portion of the vote. Basically the players hate Josh Allen’s guts and won’t vote for him. They all seem to be buddies with Lamar Jackson, so he got the nod (despite not deserving it at all). I have to imagine something similar happened this year. My conspiracy theory is he hasn’t been able to shake the reputation from the pre-draft tweets.
  2. Allen only has 5 goal line TDs. The rest of his rushing TDs are from 3+ yards. He has by far the most non-“tush push” rushing TDs by a QB this year.
  3. Cut him some slack, he’s a sports journalist.
  4. This one is for my McMansion *points up to house heaven*
  5. The premise of this thread is spending a first and second round pick on a WR. It's just a real crap-shoot on what you will get unless you are picking top 10-15. If the goal is take our passing offense to the next level UFA is a much safer path (the cap is going to make it difficult though). Odds are, any drafted WR where we will have draft picks will not outperform Gabe Davis from this year.
  6. I would actually be in favor of signing a UFA WR or trading for one, and filling in the defense with draft picks (especially if Beane can do some cap magic to kick the can down the road). We could be picking 24 or later in the draft (if we make it to the divisional round). If you look at the WR taken around there the past few years not a lot have made a huge impact their rookie seasons (assuming the goal is to have improved WR productivity next season): 2023 20: Jaxon Smith-Njigba 21: Quentin Johnston 22: Zay Flowers 23: Jordan Addison 39: Jonathan Mingo 2022 18: Treylon Burks 34: Christian Watson 2021 20: Kadarius Toney 27: Rashod Bateman 34: Elijah Moore There are zero 1k yard rookie seasons on this list (I guess we'll see after next week, but likely not). JSN, Flowers and Addison have had the best rookie seasons of the bunch and the rest have been nothing special. So a 30% success rate over this smallish sample size. No difference makers were selected 24 or later. I guess if we miss the playoffs or lose in the wild card round, then the chances of getting a real difference maker increases.
  7. Trading up from a 1st round pick at the end of the draft to the top 10 (where Nabers is probably gonna go) is going to cost a lot more than a 1st, 3rd and 5th. Try our first this year and next year’s first.
  8. There is no way we trade up with all the holes we need to fill on the roster and our limited cap space. It’s actually a lot more likely we trade down and grab more picks.
  9. You are confusing the needs of the team this season and the needs of the team next season. We are losing half our defensive starters to retirement, injury and FA is my prediction. That is going to be the biggest need. We've been fairly fortunate to have stable starters on the defense the past 3-4 years or so (remarkably so), but that is all coming to an end now.
  10. Idk why you think I'm trolling? The Bills have Von Miller, Kingsley Jonathan, Greg Rousseau, and Ed Oliver signed for next year and that's it. I'm of the opinion that Von Miller is done (we'll see, maybe not), and Jonathan isn't even activated for game day. So we have 1 DE starter signed for next season, and 1 DT starter signed for next season. We have essentially zero EDGE pass rushing players (Rousseau isn't really that kind of player) signed and that is the 2nd most valuable position besides QB in the NFL. For safety we have Poyer and Hamlin signed for next season. It wouldn't surprise me if Poyer hangs up the cleats and Hamlin is cut. So that would leave zero safeties signed for next season. To compound issues, we have no cap space to fill the roster with top UFAs. We definitely aren't signing anybody better than Davis (we probably can't even afford him). We are going to be drafting players with the intention of them starting, hoping that our mid-round draft picks from the last couple of years can take the next step and shopping in the bargain bin for free agency. Maybe we'll be drafting a WR at the bottom of the first to replace Gabe Davis, but I think it is equally likely we draft a DE, DT or S because we need them to start immediately. Possibly Shakir or Shorter and a 3rd round pick will be in an open competition for WR2. Maybe they will sign somebody like Boyd or OBJ.
  11. Who is going to play DE, DT and Safety?
  12. Yea, at least one of Allen's misses to Gabe Davis was a cover zero all out blitz where he had 0.5 seconds to throw the ball before getting clobbered. Maybe Davis should recognize the situation and look back?
  13. Time to buy some lake front property and hold it. I’ll be sitting on a gold mine in 15 years!
  14. If Von Miller is indeed washed, then the Bills have 2 starting defensive lineman signed for next season: Rousseau and Oliver. Cap space is extremely tight, and we will also have issues at other positions (like having no WR2 when Gabe walks, and possibly having no safeties signed if Poyer retires). This is going to be a mini-rebuild/retool/reset type year for the Bills. The goal should be making the playoffs, not necessarily being a top contender. McDermott will have to really earn his paycheck with subpar personnel on defense.
  15. Allen should have gotten his perfect passer rating game vs the Dolphins at the end of the season instead of the beginning of the season. What was he thinking? Doesn’t he know that games at the end of the year are more important for MVP voters?
  16. I bet the opposing QB stats have worse stats in those same games 90% of the time. Of course the counting stats aren’t going to look good in bad weather, doesn’t mean Allen isn’t outperforming the other guy and getting the W.
  17. Our only DE signed next year are Baby Groot, Von “Healthy Scratch” Miller, and Kingsley “Not on the game day roster” Jonathan. The only DT signed is Ed Oliver. That is 2 starters on the defensive line by my count when we need 7 or 8. We don’t have the cap to fill in the line in FA, it’s going to be done via the draft and probably round 1 for edge rusher. Not to mention Poyer, Hyde and Rapp very well may be all gone. That leaves us with zero safeties.
  18. Allen’s accuracy was off for sure, but the Pats were getting pressure up the middle all game right from the start. Also our WRs have been pretty bad for like 8 weeks now. No separation, near the top of the league in drops, supposed #1 WRs with less than 50 yards, supposed #2 WRs with less than 10 yards. Watch any game around the league and see wide open receivers, and receivers making contested catches. We just don’t have that ability this year.
  19. Shakir will get a fair shake for #2 WR (or at least second most targeted). I don’t think we are drafting WR in the first round with the holes on the defense. I also don’t think we are going to be making a big FA signing with the lack of cap space (probably no Higgins, Evans, Ridley or Pittman Jr). So in summary, I hope we can land someone good in the 2nd/3rd round, or maybe get a dark horse FA signing that outperforms their contract (OBJ?, Boyd?, someone with speed?). These are the types of guys he’ll probably be competing with.
  20. What is bull? He’s been the worst DE in the entire league since he returned. This move didn’t happen sooner because he’s a respected vet and team captain, and they were hoping he would return to form. He hasn’t returned to form and it’s pretty obvious it isn’t going to happen this season.
  21. Dolphins have allowed two perfect passer ratings this year. Lol!
  22. The pick play with Davis, Allen started his progression to the left for whatever reason. No way he would have had time to go all the way over to Shakir in his progression in time. Now, maybe he should have been going right to left, idk. Next season will likely be a mini-rebuild. I’m not sure fans realize that yet.
  23. We have at least 3 INT on underthrown deep passes to Diggs. At this point it is much better to overthrow, he isn’t going to win the contested catch or draw DPI. Have we even had a dpi in our favor on a deep pass this season? I can’t remember one, but I see them every week in other games.
  24. I think this is the biggest difference between this year and last year. Last year Diggs was playing at an all-pro type level. This year on the whole he’s playing as a middle of the pack #1 WR. Recently he has not even been that. Drops, not getting separation, not fighting for contested balls. Wouldn’t surprise me at all if we find out he’s injured and playing through it. Gabe Davis is also somehow worse. I think Allen has stopped throwing it his way because bad things happen.
