  1. Usually when a head coach is fired the whole staff is given the green light to pursue other opportunities. Not always and not everyone, but it is typical.
  2. This team isn’t it. Sucks but down years happen. Josh Allen is a marvel. It’s a shame his talent and Diggs talent are being wasted by the current HC.
  3. It’s not like the Jets Offense was a threat at any point. Let’s pump the breaks here, folks. Good win. Gotta stack em before it means anything.
  4. That blitz has killed them all year. Unbelievable that he is still calling it in crucial moments.
  5. I get that, but McDermott was with Carolina by the time Brady was with William and Mary. Who knows, but to me it doesn't feel like the connections are that strong prior to Brady coming to Buffalo in 2022.
  6. I agree!! The biggest thing a coordinator does week to week during the season, except for the bye, is decide which concepts are going into the game plan and where they fit on the play-sheet, mostly situationally. So, the offense is not changing. The plays and formations they have repped are the plays and formations they have. That said, the plays they choose will be different, which might make all of the difference. There is always discussion between the OC and the position coaches regarding the game plan and what is in and what is out. Presumably, McD is in at least some of those meetings. Push back is healthy in those meetings. My guess is there was push back, but McD (rightly) let his OC have the final say. He has now changed the decision maker, we'll see if it gets better.
  7. The only connection to Carolina is that they both worked there. They didn't work there at the same time. Brady was there while McDermott was the HC here and had been for several years. Not the connection you're looking for.
  8. As with any city, finding the gems are the key. Skyline/Cincinnati Chili is what it is and is no different than a Garbage plate in Rochester. For the locals it is a delicacy and for the visitors it is very hit or miss. Montgomery Inn is an incredible restaurant and while the ribs are the famous choice, the entire menu is worth trying. Over-The-Rhine was really making a comeback while I was living there and the boutique restaurants and bars/breweries that opened up there were wonderful. Additionally places like Zips in Mt. Lookout and The Echo in Hyde Park are fantastic. Arthur’s was another great place to get a meal and Graeter’s Ice Cream is absolutely awesome. As was mentioned, Jeff Ruby’s places are worth a visit as well (although Jeff may or may not be a scumbag) and the water front along the banks of the Ohio has an incredible social atmosphere. It’s a great city. Glad I lived there, glad I came home, but it’s a cool town. The brewery scene was great and my personal favorite was Rheingiest. So many other good ones, though.
  9. As someone who moved to Cincinnati and lived there for 10 years before heading back home to WNY, I will politely disagree with the above assessment. Haha I know it’s all in good fun and screw the Bengals, but the food and beer scene in the ‘Nati is as good as anywhere.
  10. Returns are hotbeds for penalties by the returning team, so perhaps the thought process is that if we can force a return we are likely to stop them near the 25 and maybe they will commit a penalty that will back them up further and maybe there is a muff or a fumble as well. Just a thought.
  11. I wasn’t on this train, until today. I am on the train. Send McDermott, too.
  12. A QB calling their own plays is a recipe for disaster in today’s NFL. The D will use the Mic/Comm and destroy an offense that will inevitably get into patterns and predictable rhythms. I am 100% in favor or no huddle and playing hurry-up all game. That is a difficult transition at this point in the season, as well. Mostly due to the conditioning needed to play it. Tempo is only an advantage if your guys are in good enough shape to really do it.
  13. Not sure why we need to puke on another poster’s thoughts on uniform combinations. I wasn’t trying to convince anyone to agree with me. Just being part of the community. Thanks for helping my morning get off to a good start.
  14. I like the single color looks. Even the Reds, for me, look good.
  15. Big Game Gabe! He disappears for long stretches. Not sure what to attribute that to… he isn’t open or Josh is tired of the shenanigans so doesn’t throw to him. More than likely, though, Josh looks to Diggs 1st and Diggs is usually open.
  16. Love and appreciate these threads each week. Thank you for posting!
  17. Reports are that he will be released if not traded from the Steelers. Admittedly, I don’t know anything about him, but he was an All Pro in 2018, has return experience and plays Corner. 28 years old. The tank might be empty, but kicking the tires might be worth it. Anyone know about this guy?
  18. Was a Varsity Offensive Coordinator for a while. We enjoyed scoring points. Lots and lots of points. If my memory is right… went 67-6 in my time coaching.
  19. AFC E Allen and Tua AFC W Mahomes and Herbert AFC S Lawrence + Stroud and Richardson have potential AFC N Lamar and Burrow (I think Watson has fallen off a cliff but who knows?) NFC E Dak and Hurts NFC W Purdy (Stafford if you want him) NFC S … NFC N Goff and Kirk
  20. Seriously no reason to attack me or my time coaching ball. You have no idea how my teams did. Maybe we won a ton of games and scored a ton of points? I didn't get to be in that position because I wasn't able and I didn't leave that position because I "fired." Sorry people disagree with you and your take. But, when you put your opinions out there, you might get people responding who disagree. Its the way it goes. I didn't come after you or your character, but it seems you must be a joy to be around. We did run out the clock when the game was out of reach, as I mentioned, but if we weren’t sure it was out of reach for the opponent we kept the pedal down. Why wouldn't you? Have a great day.
