The Steelers mystic on defense is real. They have had 3 coaches since 1969. Three. That is mind blowing. The Iron Curtain of the 70’s might be the best defense ever (sorry Bears) and with just a fews downs to go with the up years, such little turnover helps make it possible to keep the same consistent style and build a mystic. McD has made the playoffs 2 out of 3 years while rebuilding the team and changing the culture - and yet many fans here don’t like him and want him out. I find that to be extremely short sighted. If coaching/front office turnover is consistent the wins will not be.

AJ Klein: Tremaine Edmunds "a True Mike"
Bob in STL replied to Thurman#1's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
What does his brothers play have to do with anything beside showing us that you are grasping to find fault? Our Edmunds played hurt pretty much the entire first half of the season. He played hurt because he had to. Yes, he missed some tackles and yes he was less of a force. Also look at the play of the DTs in front of him. When healthy he is a very fine player that is still developing. At 22 years old he is 3 year veteran. I see a lot of upside. -
I’ll say it again, none of you guys know what goes on in the trenches like the coaches do. None of us know the line calls and such. McD said they liked the lines play in the games that Morse sat out so they stuck with it another game. Feliciano graded higher at C and they liked they overall line play and wanted it to continue. What more do you need for a reason when the coach just gave you the reason? The noise about injuries, salaries, is fan drama.

Josh Norman investment in Buffalo
Bob in STL replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I am impressed with his sincerity and willingness to help others. His on field persona is different. Never judge a book by its cover. -
Week 12 Post Game thread Bills vs Chargers

We have played a very tough schedule, and battled with injuries, and had several schedule issues related to Covid. Our defense held SD to 17 points, prior to that they we averaging 27. Milano coming back next week. You could not be more off the mark. -
Let’s consider permanently replacing Milano with Klein.
Bob in STL replied to M. Wrotto's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Klein can get to the passer and can play the run ok. His Coverage skills are spotty. A healthy Milano does it all. -

Disagree. Running is always good when playing with a 18 point lead. The passing rhythm is developed by Josh making good reads and being accurate, not by passing 75% of the time. While Brown was missed, Davis caught the longest pass of the. day. -
Week 12 Post Game thread Bills vs Chargers

Three turnovers is usually a loss. Especially with two unsportsmanlike and two more roughing the passer calls. Thankful Anthony Lynn was their coach today. The Bills made some big plays too but Lynn’s mismanagement was a factor in our favor. -
Stevie Johnson Article by Tim Graham

I don’t think so. There are so many great WRs in the league that the selected All Pros are all #1’s on their teams. If we had a legit #1 he would have caught fewer passes for fewer yards. In his best season he caught 58% if the passes targeted to him. That’s lower than Diggs, Beasley, Brown, and Davis this year. He could be the most overrated player in modern Bills history. -
Denver forced to play with no QB
Bob in STL replied to PirateHookerMD's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Ed Rutkowski was a backup flanker, end, running back, defensive back who also returned punts and kicks. In 1968 he played 3 games at QB when we lost four QBs to injury. He was the teams disaster QB and 1968 was truly a disaster. I will never forget the game we lost to the Raiders 13-10. I was a kid watching that game with my Dad and Uncles. We had the ball on the 1 yard line and Rutkowski ran a bootleg. I thought he scored but he actually fumbled. It almost went out of bounds but it was ruled in bounds and recovered by Oakland. I cried. Everyone laughed at me. I insisted he scored. -
I looked at 90 thru 93, the super bowl years, and the two defenses were close to even every year except 93 when the Bills defense was much better. In this period the Bills defense may have had a disadvantage with the Bills running the no huddle, a case could be made that it hurt them in total yardage allowed even though they were pretty strong on points allowed. The Bills biggest advantages over Miami were Thurman Thomas and Bruce Smith. To HOF players that played big against them.

I recall Jim Ritcher, a first round pick and an All American in college. He did not even start until his 4th year in the league. Ended up playing 16 seasons in the NFL and 2 pro bowls.

Was Sam Darnold "Benched"
Bob in STL replied to Captain Hindsight's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The best thing for Darnold is to never play another game for the Jets and get a fresh start with a better team next year. -
Mitch Morse will start at Center
Bob in STL replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
They dressed him for depth due to concern on other injuries on the OL. The “football decision” was to keep the momentum going that the OL had, there was no need to put Morse at any more risk with a bye coming. Cleared to play is very subjective when it comes to concussions and of course McD is not going to say that publicly. Why is this so hard to understand? -
Mitch Morse will start at Center
Bob in STL replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
None of us will ever know what the coaches grading was relative to Feliciano v. Morse at center, or Boettger v. Ford at LG. I would take PFF and fan opinion with a grain of salt. The negative comments on Winter seem unwarranted too. While not a start performer, he has been very useful given the injuries to Feliciano, Ford, Morse and the fall of Spain. I am happy with the depth we brought to the OL this year. We seem to have done better job on OL than on the DL. -

Ok This Dolphins talk is getting out of hand.
Bob in STL replied to Protocal69's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yup. The Dolphins won a few in a row with goid fortune, turnovers, and special teams. Today they we handled by a 3-7 Broncos team. Tua is out. Fitz is Fitz. 9-7 is very likely their ceiling. -
And where are the guys who last week where saying that the Dolphins are the best team in the AFCE right now? Yeah, that point differential really helped them today.

Who is your favorite PUNTER in Bills History?
Bob in STL replied to LB48's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
McGuire was one of the best AFL punters and excelled in the clutch coffin corner kick. He also played linebacker. In college he played both ways at End and LB, he led the NCAA in receptions at the Citadel. Moorman was also a fabulous athlete and one of best punters in his era. These are the two best, from totally different eras. -
Too bad you missed 2000 thru 2016. McDermott and his staff are actually very good.
