It’s just that Chargers played tough, the Bills had a ton of penalties and turned the ball over twice in the own territory and once near midfield. Still the result of those turnovers were 13 points. My concern is that the offense looked very disjointed again. Bad performance by the OL and Diggs just doesn’t look the same.

Leonard Fournette to be activated tonight

I agree. I think they want to give Ty a week off and see what they have with Lenny. If he shows out there’s a chance he could a regular roster spot -
That was a really good interview. I have to say Josh seems pretty relaxed and positive.
-
A lot of people have made that Josh - I just feel that in his film analysis Warner advocates for Josh to take the check down quite a bit. That’s the type of QB Warner was - so he’s partial to that style of play. If Josh followed Warner’s advice you’d see a higher completion percentage, less INT’s, but also more drives that end without points. In fact we saw this style a bit this season in the Dorsey offense and that’s exactly how it played out.

The problem was never the metrics, Peter. The problem was the offense wasn’t sustaining drives and more important wasn’t scoring points. I feel that Ken Dorsey was the problem as a play caller. Explain this to me, if Dorsey was doing such a great job and running an effective offense then why did a relatively healthy Bills offense average a pedestrian 18.5 points over his final 6 games? Including struggling to break 20 points when facing lesser completion? Meanwhile under Brady, the Bills have faced 3 highly ranked and 1 mediocre defense (PHIL) and averaged 29? That’s an 11 point difference against stiffer competition. Every time I bring this up to a Dorsey supporter, they never have any response. Also we’re talking a sample size of 6 games and 4 games. So to say their either is a fluke is probably not honest. IMO it’s faulty logic to think Dorsey would have done the same given more time. It was the same story every week - we waited each week for improvement and it really never happened. The Bills are 8-6 and might not make the playoffs. There’s a lot of criticism you can point to. Firing Ken Dorsey should not be one of them.

The Cover 1 crew did a great job challenging Warner’s criticism of Josh. The problem with Warner’s criticism is that he doesn’t completely understand the style of play from of non-conventions QB’s like Josh. Warner tends to be partial to QB’s who play the same way he did as a passer - which was throwing with timing and anticipation. He constantly advocated for Josh to check the ball down in his analysis. Josh largely did this early in the season and it essentially neutered some of the things he did well. If anything Dorsey’s offense showed us this season, it’s that Josh isn’t meant to be the type of QB that takes three steps and checks the ball down to the receiver 3 yards away. Like Mahomes, part of his game is playing off schedule. The problem last season is that it seemed like everything Allen did was off schedule resulting in a boom or bust result. Obviously, the key is finding balance between moving the sticks and taking a deep shot. Allen never found that answer with Dorsey, hopefully it something Brady can bring out of him.

Would've been a great pickup before they signed Linval. Now with Jones coming back they would just have too many DT’s especially considering Phillips injury doesn’t seem to be long term

There may be some truth to this, but I just don’t see any way how McDermott suddenly says “ok forget it, we’ll let Josh run” after firing Dorsey. If this was of his strategy you’d think he’d double down after firing Dorsey. we’ll probably never know either way, but in my opinion that theory doesn’t make sense I think there’s a lot of truth to this. But Brady didn’t really “cut Josh loose as a runner.” The difference between Dorsey and Brady have been 2-3 rushing attempts per game. It’s not that drastic. I’d agree that the difference is the play calls.

I thick it’s one of those calls like holding or Offside which happens quite often (if not an every play). Rather than slowing the game for every instance, the small infractions like a WR’a foot lined up in front of the football are ignored. I’d assume it’s the same with this motion

I saw a few Raisers games this year and he never stood out to me either way, which probably is a good thing. Last season in Buffalo he was really bad. That can’t be denied

To be honest, I don’t blame him. Get as much money as you can. The average tenure of a n NFL coach is what…maybe 3 seasons? The only guarantee you have is the money in your contract. I can imagine working as an NFL HC is a 70+ hour work weeks. It’s going to be his life and his sacrifice a lot, might as well get paid.

If you go by PFF grades, Tyrell Dodson is the 3rd best linebacker in the NFL. PFF are subjective and do shoddy job arguing the narrative you are trying to spin. No one is denying the Bills defense was terrible against Cincinnati or that it wasn’t a problem in the losses this season. It clearly was an it’s been talked about to death. But look at the points scored by the offense in each of the games you claim the offense “graded out” higher. 10 16 20 25 18 22 An average of 18.5 per loss. But apparently because the PFF score was higher for the offense, it means that defense was the problem. Also, another fact to destroy your narrative. The defense lost 1 All Pro player (Milano, 1 player playing at an All Pro level (Jones) and one former All Pro player coming into this own (White) for the season. Obviously losing a player at every level defense for the entire year is going to hurt. The offense meanwhile has been relatively healthy all season long. What’s the excuse there? Bottom line is that the right call was to move from Dorsey. If he hadn’t been fired, the Bills would be in a much worse position. For weeks we kept waiting for the offense to “get right.” It didn’t happen until we hired a new OC. I think 14 points to a decent but undermanned Giants should have been a wake up call. Still at this point, the Bills were 4-2 and two weeks off an impressive dismantling Miami, Las Vegas and Washington averaging 41 points. The Jacksonville game was ugly but weird stuff happens in international games. Last year the Bills won 14 games. They were 4-2 after the suspect Giants victory. I think Dorsey deserved more time to turn it around.

What “evidence?” There’s past of what you said that I can agree with but most of what you wrote is opinion and conjecture disguised as “overwhelming” evidence. If read the reporting from people like Tim Graham and everyone else in the Buffalo beat. Allen was very close with Dorsey and supported him as OC. It was reported that Dorsey was his “first choice” verbatim. In fact, when Dorsey was fired, Graham referred to the move as proverbially grabbing Allen by the facemask and telling him to get his ***** together. I’ve always disagreed with the notion that Dorsey was just a puppet to McDermott. If you read and believe the Ty Dunne article, McDermott had little involvement with the offense and spent most of his time on defense. I’m sure he did emphasize protecting Josh more in the offense but I don’t think he was as involved as you do. I feel Dorsey’s offense was his attempt to evolve Josh into high percentage pocket passer to beat Cover 2 shell and then to take the deep shots when opportunities presented themselves. Josh did fine. Dorsey just wasn’t very good at play calling. Here is the question - if McDermott and Beane were so hell bent on Josh not running in Dorsey’s offense, why would they just abandon it when Brady took over?

If a team does their due diligence they’ll see the nice plays AJ has made as a pass rusher and also his biggest weakness which is setting the edge. The reason he’s been a rotational player is due to his inability to play the run. It was a major issue in the playoff game against Cincinnati and a big reason why the defense faltered in the second half against Philadelphia. I think AJ has grown into a competent DE. I can see him getting a nice contract but I don’t think he’s complete enough as a player to get a contract in that range.
-
No but if you’re the franchise QB and you have concerns, you also aren’t going to sit on your arse and allow it to happen either. This is a completely made up narrative. If this was being reported in 2021, how could it be a “re-write?” The truth mostly likely is that both the Bills and Josh Allen had confidence that Ken Dorsey could be a good OC. And yes, Josh pushed for him too

Can’t be understated….this was a huuuuuge move by Buffalo. I believe the thinking was that Floyd could hold down the fort under Miller was healthy. Instead, he became Von Miller and Von Miller became….Trent Murphy?

I’d agree with you on the LaPorta vs. Kincaid debate. I think the Bills went with the TE with a higher ceiling. But the 2 TE offense is an interesting subject. We don’t know whether it was Dorsey or Beane that initially pushed for that personnel. It’s probably both, but I might argue Beane was the one who pushed it initially. I remember an interview he did with Pat McAfee after the Kincaid selection and he talked about how good the offense in Carolina was when they had Jeremy Shockey and Greg Olsen. He tried this last season as well with the signing of OJ Howard. In fact, you can make the argument he tried this in 2021 by signing Jacob Hollister who was coming off two good seasons. This is before Dorsey was OC. No it really wasn’t. After Daboll left every news outlet reported Allen pushed for Dorsey as OC as the became close in the QB room. Obviously he had a past with McDermott and Beane which likely helped, but I believe the desire to keep continuity after Daboll, was the biggest reason Dorsey was hired.
