Isaiah Hodgins Expected to Be Non-Tendered as RFA
JohnNord replied to JGMcD2's topic in The Stadium Wall
The way that some Bills fans talked about Hodgins in 2022, you would have thought they gave away an All Pro. He did well with the opportunities he was given last season in NY, but this season he struggled to do much of anything. As the NYG receiving corps improved a bit, Hodgins snapped decreased. I think if the Bills were to sign him, he’d be in the same position as 2022 as a WR5/WR6 trying to crack the roster w/o playing special teams -

Not when it mattered -
I mean…all the best to Siran Neal but I never understood why he was paid so well. He was ok on Special Teams but no one ever considered among the best in the league. He seemed to be the guy who made it downfield toward the goal line but usually messed up when it came to keeping the ball out of the end zone. He also couldn’t play defense. More times than not when you had Siran Neal in coverage it didn’t end well. This was an easy release for Buffalo

I see him as a bigger, better replacement for Trent Sherfield
-
Both are decent predictions. I’d bet on the Bills paying a little more for a safety. I know they’ll sign a lower end WR that could start just depends which one. I fully expect the Bills to draft a WR to replace Gabe as well
-
Best of luck for Poyer. I think he’s still good if you can bring him down in the box but he’s lost a step and it was impossible to keep him at the salary he was signed to.

The longer he’s out there, the lower his cost becomes. I think they could get him on a one year deal for $4M

Britt Reid Prison Term Already Commuted
JohnNord replied to RoyBatty is alive's topic in The Stadium Wall
Read this story and tell me if you feel the same: https://sports.yahoo.com/former-chiefs-assistant-britt-reid-cut-the-line-into-the-nfl-now-he-cut-the-line-out-of-prison-180036459.html It seems like justice wasn’t served for the family and it came under suspect circumstances -

You can find a pretty good space eating DT in the mid rounds. That’s what Buffalo needs

Mother of girl injured in Britt Reid crash shocked by commutation https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/39708520/mother-girl-injured-britt-reid-crash-shocked-commutation This is gut wrenching… and I’m sure the pardon has nothing do with Parsons fandom… imagine trying to defend this. Draw your own conclusions… ”Jackson County prosecutor Jean Peters Baker told ESPN last week she would have never agreed to a plea deal if she knew Reid would serve only 1½ years. Parson, a self-proclaimed Chiefs fan, attended the Super Bowl in Las Vegas last month where the Chiefs won their third Super Bowl in four years. He received a tattoo to commemorate their win in 2023. Miller said she was not notified by the governor's office about the commutation, and she said she has not personally heard from Reid or his family since the accident. Asked if she would take their calls, she said "no." -

I completely disagree…Britt also has a prior record and deserved way more time. Because he’s a Chiefs fan and doesn’t want to fathom the possibility that his favorite coach could be involved with getting his son out of trouble which he’s continually done for the past two decades. -
I like the idea of signing DJ Reader to a one-year deal. Seems like the perfect option

You honestly believe that his last name had nothing to do with it? Come on man? -

It’s infuriating to hear Reid was released. I would be shocked if Andy’s relationship with the governor premeditated this. I’ll hesitate to make any judgement about Andy as a person or a father because we don’t know for sure - but I would question whether a release is helpful for Brit or just another way to enable him -
I would be pumped to have Samuel and I think Brady would do well find ways to get him involved. My main concern is someone replace Gabe. Last year the offense stalled because there was no threat to go deep and outside of Diggs no other receivers could beat man coverage. They need a solid WR that can do both. Hopefully round 1

How many of players let go offered to take salary cuts to stay?
JohnNord replied to Saxum's topic in The Stadium Wall
I agree and would throw Hyde in the mix as well. The team needed to get younger either this season or next and I think it’s a self-aware move to make these changes -
How many of players let go offered to take salary cuts to stay?
JohnNord replied to Saxum's topic in The Stadium Wall
I don’t think so. That happens around training camp but not usually in March due to the dead cap. Morse for example…he cost the Bills around $8M in 2023. If the Bills were to re-sign him after releasing him it would still carry a $3M dead cap. So if he signed a one year contract for, say $6M, he’s actually more expensive in 2024. Someone made a good point online while arguing that the “cap isn’t real.” They said moving on from Tre, Poyer, Mitch was more due to their age than it was the salary cap. -
Not sure why this redundant thread hasn’t been moved.

Yes

Do we really need a new thread for this?

Von Miller and Shaw Lawson set the edge much better that AJ. They cant have him play all the snaps at DE
-
I’m ok with re-signing him not as thrilled as you are. I’d like to see AJ play more consistent all around on the edge. While he’s gotten better at pass rushing and batting down passes, he’s also not very good against the run. In fact, at times he’s been a liability and his usage has been limited situationally. Also a mid-2nd draft pick turning into a “Pro Bowler” is not so unordinary. There’s a reason why team teams covet Day 2 picks.

That’s fine but you’re pretending that the body composition is an issue when he went through that 3 years ago…it’s no longer relevant. It would be like me saying “Josh Allen is still recovering from his elbow injury”
