  1. Gonna play this game again? Miami had a relatively easy schedule down the stretch. They beat a Rams teams that was heavily injured and then lost to the only 2 playoffs teams above .500 before losing to the Jets. And they lost the two games WITH Tua. Miami’s record against winning teams over the past three seasons says it all. Not as glaring as their record versus winning football teams
  2. This is pretty crazy… sounds like Tyreek wants out of Miami 🤣
  3. Not a surprise. But he does deserve some credit for the job he did with Drake Maye Not so sure about that. Vrabel is a good head coach and he runs a good program. He’ll find players that will play hard for him. Plus he’s never really had a franchise QB. Its unknown how Johnson will be as a HC
  4. The narrative of this class has changed. Allen and Jackson had the most question marks pre-draft and ended up as the best out of this class. Baker and Darnold have gone from franchise QB to a QB bust back to franchise QB. And then there’s Josh Rosen who most Bills fans wanted that was a complete and utter bust. Assuming that Darnold sticks in Minnesota, overall this was a really strong QB class
  5. True… all three are top contenders
  6. I know Lions were pissed about this but that is pretty awesome for Vikings fans. I remember hearing that Detroit was the one fan base that didn’t sell many tickets to away team fans
  7. You can make the argument that Rodgers was the worst player on offense for the Jets last week vs. Buffalo
  8. The Dough Boy has been a goner for weeks even if Mayo stayed. When your head coach publicly throws that OC under the bus, it’s never good - just ask Ken Dorsey
  9. I don’t at all buy that Mayo was set up. If he was a temporary hire, they never would have selected a franchise QB at #4. Plus the media reported that Kraft has been supportive of Mayo for weeks. But the press release today was very revealing. The mistake that Bob made was legally making Mayo the successor to Belichick. It was a pretty stupid considering that Mayo not only had zero head coaching experience but also had a limited network for hiring assistants. This season went very poorly - not only on the field - but also in public. Mayo said something stupid every week and seemingly would throw others under the bus publicly. At some point, I think Bob realized he screwed up with this and wanted to cut his losses. I also think they feel the pressure to hire Vrabel or Ben Johnson and wanted an early start. Mayo had a really bad roster but I thinks that due more to incompetence of the front office than having the deck stacked against him.
  10. I’m pretty sure the writing was on the wall and Mayo knew he was done so he wanted to try to go out with a win, especially knowing it was an FU to the owner Why would Saleh want to work for Vrabel? I’m guessing he’d rather be in a situation where he’s have complete control of the defense. San Fran fans are hoping he’ll be the new DC
  11. They’ve won so few games this season that any victory is exciting.
  12. I totally agree. There were people here that were certain Cincinnati were making the playoffs despite the probably firmly cemented at under 10%. Some were convinced that Andy Reid wouldn’t sit the starters due to the Christmas game and bye week - even though team reporters had said that was the plan. Then we we saw the lineup the same people were still concerned that a good Denver team couldn’t beat the Kansas City second team. Man… all that time and energy wasted on stressing about a flawed Bengals team. Now that energy has shifted to Denver after beating up on a team of 2nd and 3rd stringers talent 🤣
  13. He was lucky to draft Maye. But look at the supporting cast he put around him. Easily the worst supporting cast on offense. There never was a plan for his development, he exceeded expectations. New England had a lot of cap space but added no significant players through free agency. Now take a look at the Patriots draft. It’s among one of the worst in the NFL. Everyone knew they needed WR’s. The players they drafted have 100 yards COMBINED this season. Wolf is trainwreck. https://www.pro-football-reference.com/teams/nwe/2024_draft.htm Take a look at that roster and tell me he did a good job in a year when he had a lot cap space and resources.
  14. Kraft’s infatuation with Mayo never made sense to me. He was essentially a position coach while Belichick ran the defense. There were reports that he was promised the job before Bill retired. Then when it actually happened, Mayo was given the job without any kind of search. My guess is that Kraft felt he was getting Belichick’s program without Bill. He also could take back the GM duties. Mayo was a train wreck though as is Elliot Wolf. I didn’t think Kraft had the balls to do it but firing Mayo probably helps NE. It can’t be much worse
  15. I’d rather LaFleur over Ryans any day. In terms of being overrated I’d put Ryans ahead
  16. Caleb Williams is having a whale of a game. The kid is not good. The teams that are losing today don’t have playoffs on the line. Demeco Ryans is a worse head coach
  17. That was the consistent them over his last 6 games though. A lot of mistakes, bad turnovers, and a failure to put up points. I don’t have an issue with your take as much as I do with some others who tried to dismiss the work that Brady did as OC or the decision to fire Dorsey. IMO both moves saved the season - as did figuring out how to run the undermanned defense
  18. I wouldn’t say stupid… just not a great OC
  19. But it wasn’t scapegoating. Dorsey’s offense wasn’t good over his final 6 games as OC. Plus it’s not like McDermott was under any pressure to lose his job. When Brady took over you saw a more efficient offense that scored more points and utilized talent better. Instead of deep shots to Diggs and Davis that often failed, Brady spread the ball around getting Shakir and the RB’s involved in the passing game. A few games into the Brady era at OC, I was convinced McDermott made the right choice firing Dorsey and I’m even more certain now.
  20. LOL Their last 5 opponents!🤣🤣🤣🤣 Dallas Tennessee Cleveland Denver Pittsburgh They needed lucky breaks in 3 of these games to win.
  21. Stefanski started out the year calling plays and turned duties to Dorsey after the Browns started 1-6. There’s a theory I read that Stefanski was looking for a scapegoat which is why he let Dorsey call plays. I wasn’t a fan of Dorsey as an OC in Buffalo. I thought he was ok in 2022 but then pretty bad in 2023 and deserved to be fired. But he was in a no-win situation in Cleveland with Watson at QB. . Remember when folks in here tried saying Dorsey was a Sean McDermott scapegoat? And that Joe Brady wasn’t much better than Dorsey, even after the closed the season winning their final 5 games?
  22. The overlap between McDermott and Whaley was always odd to me. My belief is that the Pegulas had been consulting with Bill Polian throughout the 2016 season. IIRC he had a deal in place to take over as Vice President overseeing Coach and GM but pulled out once Marrone quit and Orton retired. He also was up for a HOF nomination and didn’t want to start the process over. The old school belief is that you don’t fire a GM until after the draft. This way if they leave they can’t share intel with competitors. Also you don’t put the new GM in a position to do a year’s worth of work in 3 months. I also think that McDermott’s plan involved rebuilding the roster in year 1 before drafting a QB in year 2. I feel that he knew the gravity and importance of selecting a QB high in R1, and he didn’t trust himself or Whaley’s scouting to make that choice. Had they fired Whaley and hired Beane in January, it makes you wonder whether this plan changes.
  23. It happened in just about every playoff loss
  24. I mean, he had the right idea. They leaned into the rushing offense to set up the pass. That worked well until teams shut down the run and Tannehill wasn’t good enough to win the game for them. It happened on nearly every playoff exit. Rex had an antiquated philosophy a decade ago. He also was infamous for a poor work ethic - as reporters would see his infamous truck leaving the stadium on their home commute. There’s no way he has evolved working as a studio analyst. I’m sure he still talks a good game and would for NYJ to fall in the same trap that Pegula did. “Don’t let him leave the building, Woody”
  25. They also were in “QB Purgatory” or sort with Ryan Tannehill. He had a few good seasons passing the ball built around play action. But there were limitations and once you start removing some of the piece like Brown - things fell apart. I thought Vrabel did a decent job in 2023. That team was really bad talent-wise but still got some big wins against Miami and Jacksonville down the stretch. We saw this season that no team is going to be able to do anything with Will Levis as its franchise QB.
