NE was very aggressive in overlaying free agents last season and for the most part, their big contracts didn’t really deliver. It seems that this season, they are going in the opposite direction and trying to find “value contracts.” Doesn’t seem like it’s working so far

Politics aside, Cole was an excellent Buffalo Bill. There’s not a doubt in mind that he help Josh grow as QB - especially in 2020 where he was his security blanket. He might be losing a step, but again zone defense he still knows where to get open. Because of his views he will probably never get the credit he deserves, which is too bad because he really boosted the offense

Where has he been mocked? Because I’m pretty sure they won’t use a 1st round pick on him. I have a hard time thinking they’ll spend a 1st or 2nd round pick on a RB.

Gotta say, even before the Miller move, I really liked the moves they made in FA. They were all very smart signings. I think they will go CB and WR in the draft and I can totally see them trading down.

Absolutely not. No doubt there’s more pressure to win a SB. But I don’t feel his seat got any warmer. McDermott still has a ton of power around One Bills Drive. He does not report to Brandon Beane. He reports directly to the Pegulas. Terry is floundering with the Sabres because he can’t find a HC like McDermott. If the Bills don’t win a SB it will be a disappointment but his job is not jeopardy. If the Bills don’t even make the playoffs with this roster then maybe

Beane is not going to pay that kind of money to free agents. You have to overpay to land a big player. Get used to this. while I agree Beane has done a great job overall the original comment was correct. He has whiffed badly on the defensive line. Star’s contract was bad. It was one of the highest for his position and he always underperformed. His dead cap hurt the team for several seasons. There was also Vernon Butler, Trent Murphy and players like Mario Addison who have been serviceable but less than stellar for his contract.

I have more faith in AJ Epinesa than Ford - that’s not a good thing

The problem is that all 3 are question marks. Rosseau has the best chance. He is already good at setting the edge and you could imagine his pass rush skills getting better. I think at this point AJ Epinesa is a JAG. Maybe the last DE you keep on a 53 man roster because he players special teams. We don’t know enough about Boogie yet. I do think the long term was plan was to be set at DE in the future with these picks. But I’m not sure that will be the case

This is a sneaky good signing. Many people have commented that Settle is a really DT that just didn’t get the snaps with Washington. I think he’s going to step into a pretty big role in Buffalo - I think he’s starting 1TDT…I don’t see Phillips coming back

DE Danielle Hunter I think Rosseau will be a decent DE but I don’t think he’s anything special as a pass rusher. I also have no confidence in AJ or Basham. I think a bonafide pass rusher off the edge changes the defense. TE Evan Engram If the Bills can get Ingram on the team I think they can really take advance of his skills. Matchup nightmare. Draft: Jordan Davis or Jameison Williams

I’m not so sure that this is completely accurate. I read the same line in the NYP article. I wish they would have clarified where the information was sourced. I don’t recall him ever threatening to leave Buffalo publicly. I know where was a report that PSE said cities like San Antonio would publicly finance a new NFL stadium - is that a threat though?

I would disagree with the 2019 FA class which I feel was largely successful. But you are spot on about the rest. The Bills have not spent their cap space wisely on FA’s. I’ve contended that Star Lotulelei’s deal was among the biggest mistakes Beane has made since taking over. The 2020 FA was especially overpriced and bad. I think the Bills off-season will largely resemble what we saw last year - a few middling FA’s. Maybe even a QB2. But anyone thinking that Beane is going to be making a splash will be disappointed.

The injury is the big question mark. The RB you draft or sign is not going to have the impact a healthy McCaffrey will You’d rather have another Greg Rosseau?

There was some interesting chatter today about a proposed trade on the NFL Network. I kind of like this deal but other Bills fans were 100% opposed given his contract and injury history. As long as he could stay healthy, I think he would bring a new dimension to the offense that Josh has never had. Still I know Beane really values 1st round draft picks. I can’t see him trading #25 this year.
