  1. I think this is reading way too much into the situation. There’s no evidence or reports to suggest that Daboll was distracted. Also, Leslie Frazier ends up putting together one of his best game plans ever as a DC - on the eve of his first interview with Houston. In fact many theorists out there believed that Texans GM Nick Caserio was only interviewing Leslie to distract him from game planning at the behest of his good college buddy (John Carrol University) Greg Roman. Personally I think a number of factors were in play including the fact that the Baltimore defense might not be a great matchup for our offense. I’m just glad we escaped with a W
  2. I think the Bills reluctance toward running was heavily influenced by the previous week and how well they took care of Darrick Henry. Part of Tennessee’s downfall was there decision to continually slam into the DL. Like you said, this seems to have been the Bills defensive blueprint the last time they played KC - they dared the Chiefs to run the ball an Andy Reid did it. Based on McDermott’s comments, it doesn’t seem likely that this continues next week.
  3. I think it’s another positive stat but like you said, it’s more of a team stat. Blake Bortles also has 2 playoff wins
  4. Brees was terrible tonight. Between Brees, Rivers, Roethlisberger, and Brady the old guard is really starting to show their age. Brady probably still is the best of the 4
  5. I would agree it’s hard to know whether Lamar is capable of running more traditional dropback passing plays. Honestly, I think part of the problem is Greg Roman’s run heavy offense. We’ve seen the story play out in San Francisco, Buffalo, and now Baltimore. Initially the mobile QB takes the league by storm and the offense has a lot of success but once a defense catches up and stops the run, the passing game isn’t developed enough to win games. Lamar is an explosive runner and shown flashes as a passer but he really hasn’t evolved from the QB he was last year and IMO that’s what held the Ravens back.
  6. Too bad the joke is on Bills fans. This episode probably sets ratings records for FS1
  7. For what it’s worth, I find Joe Buscaglia and Matthew Fairburn to be the most tuned in beat reporters for the Bills. Both picked the Bills in a close game. I think Joe B was inaccurate in only one game this year
  8. Humphrey will play slot which puts Peters on Diggs which is the first mismatch. The next one is Jimmy Smith on John Brown. Smith is not as quick as he once was. Then you have another favorable matchup in Anthony Averett on Davis or McKenzie. A good secondary but I have a feeling there will be plays to be made. Turnovers could be the key to this game
  9. I don’t think they will but Arizona also publicly supported Josh Rosen when the rumor was they would take Murray.
  10. The ironic thing is, they actually have a chance to draft another top QB against this year. It would be a bold move that they probably won’t make
  11. This comment didn’t bother me as much as some when you consider that many consider Tua as a humble, hardworking player. If it was someone prone to bragging or arrogance it’s a different story. It always seemed like a poor choice of words
  12. There’s speculation that ownership could’ve influenced the decision. I don’t know... I always felt that Fitzpatrick, even with his ups abs downs, was the better choice if playoffs were a priority. If you want to look to the future, you start Tua. Put him in real game situations and use the experience to build toward next season. Tua becomes priority #1. Playoffs become priority #2. I think Flores tried to both, and the process really ended doing neither. The decision to pull Tua for Fitz in key moments was always telling for me and the decision to go back to Tua after was just bizarre
  13. That’s the thing, he is very popular in the locker room. Players love him because he’s a hard worker and a good person. They just aren’t seeing reasons on the field why he started over Fitzpatrick and question how high his potential really is
  14. Not a comparable situation. Tua, along with Joe Burrow, was considered to ready to start - perhaps the most pro ready. Justin Herbert was considered more of a project QB that would need time to grow. Allen was thought of to be a low-floor/high ceiling type of project QB. Tua was never considered a QB project as was thought of to have the highest ceiling of any QB but maybe the lowest floor. Most rookie QB’s have up and down years, but the good one show some flashes of greatness from time to time (Herbert, Burrow, Baker, Lamar, Josh, Murray). We’ve seen a few solid games from Tua but no where near on the level of the other top QB’s over the past two year. Miami won on their defense and special teams - and not with QB play. I don’t buy the narrative that Chan didn’t trust him. I just think he’s pretty limited with what he can do right now and he called plays accordingly. I do think Tua can get better but IMO I see him as more of game manager than a franchise QB. You can win with a game manager, but as we know, there is a ceiling with how high you can go.
  15. Pat Ricard should probably the least of your worries when facing a team quarterbacked by Lamar Jackson. If the Bills lose, it will be because of Lamar Jackson....not Pat Ricard
  16. I don’t put much stock into national broadcast including GMF - who have largely been positive about the Bills. With covering the entire league, I feel that they only follow a handful of teams closely. This is why their insight sometimes lacks a lot of detailed insight and context, as opposed to beat reporters. This is probably why their last matchup (in bad weather) was never brought up. I’ve noticed in the past there were a few facts that they were completely incorrect about. I can’t remember them specifically but pretty sure they were shared by Kyle Brandt.
  17. So all the talk on Jerry Sullivan. He seems to have mellowed out a bit in his approach. His mother who had Alzheimer’s died earlier this year. Not sure if that had anything to do with it. But as you can see in the video he’s throwing some playful jabs at the Bills while giving props to Del Reid and 26 shirts
  18. Normally I would agree but I think that his age will probably hurt him only because owners want a young, flashy innovative thinker. I do believe that Frazier might actually be a good HC hire in the right situation. He’s a very calm and positive presence who relates well to people and just about all players love playing for him.
  19. Among the conspiracy theories on Twitter: - Frazier is just being interview to comply with the Rooney rule (even though they interview Jim Caldwell) - The interview is a performative gesture in response to Watson allegedly not being happy that a minority candidate like Eric Bienemy was considered. and my favorite: - Interviewing Frazier is all part of an elaborate scheme for Nick Caserio to help his fellow John Carrol alumni Greg Roman get a competitive edge. He’s simply interviewing Leslie to distract him from preparing a game plan this week. More time interviewing = less time game planning! LOL Of course, if he wanted to do a solid for his buddy you’d think he’d give Roman the interview!
  20. I’m not really a Barnwell fan but his logic here makes sense. I don’t necessarily agree with it but it isn’t the most out there kind of take. I can see Pittsburgh playing better than it do the last time we played them but the teams are pretty evenly matched IMO so I see the game as a coin flip and yes it could come down to turnovers
  21. Not sure what game you were watching but here have been way worse performances. As far as the D-Line, I think the problem stems from the lack of true a 1 Tech DT. This forces the combination of Oliver, Butler, or Zimmer to fill that position. IMO a better 1 Tech would allow Oliver to penetrate better from 3 Tech. If you watched the Washington game you saw how 4 1st round linemen can beat blocking and put pressure on a QB. Other things to consider is that the interior OL of the Colts is probably one of the best in the NFL.
  22. I literally just wrote that. Scoring 47 points per game, as the Bills have over the past 3 weeks is not sustainable in the post season. There will be playoff games like this one. Colts fans are really going blaming Reich for the loss. IMO he put together a great game plan. The 4th down call was a good call but a bad result. The only thing you can fault him for is wasting a challenge on the fumble. Not sure why he called that
