This is ridiculous… Schwartz could have substituted Tua for Mac Jones and made the same exact point. It’s more about the style of QB who’s accurate throwing short but is hesitant or struggles to push the ball downfield for big plays. Oh they are aware and know it was a misstep. They’ll try to rationale the decision for drafting Tua by comparing the records of both teams which don’t really tell you much.

B. was huge. John Elway wasted a 1st round pick on Paxton Lynch in 2016. Despite having 2 years of evidence that Lynch probably would never make it, he was too proud to cut bait and draft another QB. The other thing that worked in their favor was the board shaped up. Not only did Cleveland pass on Allen they also took Denzel Ward over Bradley Chubb. Denver loved Chubb and refused to trade the pick with the Bills or anyone else. Same thing with Indy and Quentin Nelson at #6.

For sure - when Bass kicked the ball to the goal line, the ST’s coverage was right one. One time the returner took the ball out of the endzone and barely made it outside of the 10

There actually was one run where he looked really quick and gained picked up a decent gain. But the fumble in garbage time was inexcusable. I would agree that the passes to him were futile.

I don’t think this technically true, but what I will say is that Phillips’ role in the Bills defense is perfect for him

Not concerned but I think it speaks more to how well Bedford is playing as a rookie than it does it says about Elam not being good. It’s going to take some time for him to learn the defense

That’s not technically true. The Bills own the name “Bills.” You can’t trademark someone else’s trademark. That would be like me claiming they trademark “Disney Family” This is why, as someone stated previously, Del Reid handed over the rights to the name “Bills Mafia” to the team for free. They always owned the trademark.

Easily the biggest variable from last year to this season is the Bills offensive coordinator. However, in discussing Ken Dorsey it seems like the consensus is that he will be somewhat of a downgrade from Brian Daboll and there’s an assumption that he’s going to struggle at times as a first time OC. I’m not saying both scenarios won’t happen - they very well could. But I also think there’s a better chance that Dorsey could have closer to the same or even more success on offense than Daboll. Not necessarily because of his playing ability but because of Josh Allen the evolution of the skill players. Dorsey is going to be handed a Top 5 QB and WR duo, along with players like Davis, McKenzie, and Knox who are experienced and seem to be ready to step-up and contribute. Plus what should be a slightly better OL and running game along with a player like James Cook who offers a skill set that was missing last season. And while Dorsey has never called plays as OC before before he has the pedigree, experience, and at one time was considered a “hot” OC candidate with Carolina before Cam broke down. Also, regarding Daboll IIRC the fanbase was split for the majority of Daboll’s tenure with the Bills. Many fans, some of the media, and even McDermott himself were critical of some games Daboll called. Others disputed how much credit he should get for calling plays with a breakout superstar like Josh. Even during the successful seasons in 2020 and 2021, at mid-season many were calling for his job. It wasn’t until strong performances late in the year that fans came around. Perhaps that resiliency was a testament to his experience and ability as OC? Personally I think Daboll did a great job in Buffalo - specially with developing the identity of Josh as a passer. Because of Josh and because of the talent on offense around him, I’m not sure it will be that much of a step back - if at all, but we’ll see

I think that’s overstated. I think “spotty” accuracy in reference to Allen has changed a bit. He doesn’t mean the QB that missed flares to the RB of the backfield in 2018. I think he means Josh doesn’t have the same pinpoint accuracy that the other top QB’s do. I’ve seen this before when his ball placement isn’t perfect but it’s good enough to get the job done. LOL

There are other examples that you can find with ball placement as well, which is part of the reason why I think the YAC for Bills WR’s have been so low. Josh is never going to be a pinpoint accurate passer but he’s still good enough in other areas to overcome

No correlation there…but this writer has been dogging Josh since he came out of Wyoming. So many Bills fans enjoyed dunking on him on Twitter. It should be noted that Ruiz quite often spoke on racism in the NFL in the past including the infamous pre-draft tweets Allen wrote in high school. IMO I feel he was very much biased toward Josh when evaluating him

Saying that he “struggles with pre-snap” is a critique that he probably could make in 2020 and into the first half of last season. But I think Josh really got better at reading defenses toward the end of the season and eventually audibled or figured out where to go with the ball when facing two high safeties. The rest of his write up makes sense. Josh is not technically perfect but his athletic ability allows him to get away with it.

Like most GM’s, Belichick had his share of hits and misses. It always seemed like NE had additional draft picks, so you might argue he’s missed more than the average GM. Brady helped elevate an average cast of players on offense. Once he left, NE saw how depleted their skills players were in 2020. Rather than rebuild slowly they tried to overhaul the offense in an offseason and missed badly. Belichick’s strength has always been defense. His drafting on defense is better and he seems to always find players he can plug in to become productive.

IIRC I think the issue that he signed an extension as an RT. They then moved him over to a LT who are paid higher. His argument was that after changing to a more premiere position he should be paid accordingly. To be honest, I think Peters just wanted out of Buffalo and this was how he forced his way out of town. It all goes back to relationships between the front office and players & agents. Brandon, was horrible, Nix and Whaley weren’t great. Beane is excellent. This happened to just about every major name who played in Buffalo and it goes to show how crappy the Bills were run during the final years of Ralph Wilson.

This would be a great move in 2014. Peters is washed…my best friend is an Eagles fan and said he was terrible in 2020. Bitched about him every week and said he should retire. Couldn’t believe he was still playing in 2021.

Sounds like the Bills knew about this already…possibly before they cut Haack. So there’s a possibility they investigated it already and still kept Araizia on the team. Beane and McDermott aren’t the type that will takes these kind of chances so maybe there’s more to the story. We don’t know yet

Not the same situation but yeah he could be banished from the league. my point was, he’s not facing criminal charges. Someone alluded to him going to prison - as of now that’s not on the table
