  1. Rodgers played better than the 5-12 record indicates but a lot of those high season total rankings is because Rodgers refused to hand the ball off to his running backs. They had the 5th highest number of passes (20% more than the Bills) but by far the lowest number of rush attempts (4% lower than the next lowest team). I believe the Jets had the lowest ratio of rushes to passes in last season. I can't believe that the Jets OC was refusing to call rushing plays so I assume it was Rodgers either checking out of rushes or Rodgers choosing to pass when he was given a option at the line.
  2. It appears that the Jets want to. https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/jeff-ulbrich-expects-to-interview-for-jets-head-coaching-job-next-week Obviously just a courtesy interview but I wonder why Ulbrich would bother to take it.
  3. Seems pretty convenient, Browns would get 44.3M of cap relief in 2026 due to injury insurance, not to mention actual cash, if Watson can't play in 2025. Not that Jimmy Haslam would ever do anything dishonest like insurance fraud. https://sports.yahoo.com/browns-eligible-massive-insurance-relief-163727876.html#:~:text=The Browns had about %2414,%2444.3 million in insured relief.
  4. From how I read the article the main person expecting Rex Ryan to interview for theJets HC job is Rex Ryan.
  5. What do you mean? Why doesn't it make sense? I am just saying the coaches and front office have zero motivation to tank since they will be gone in a few weeks. Why would they tank to give the Jets a better draft choice?
  6. It was widely reported that Woody Johnson ordered the benching of Tony Adams earlier in the season, so Johnson has made playing time decisions before. However, if I were Ulbrich I would tell Johnson FU if he ordered me to tank. I don't think Woody Johnson has enough respect around the league to blacklist coaches.
  7. Why would the Jets tank? How is a higher draft choice going to help anyone on the coaching staff or front office? None of them will be there next season.
  8. I've got to agree. A lot of the arguments you see in this thread sounds very similar to folks explaining how Star and Edmunds was much more vital to the Bills' success than it seems.
  9. Cousins has connections with Stefanski. Winston and DTR are probably gone after this season. The Browns can't afford the cap hit if they cut Watson but everybody has seen enough of him. Cousins would step in as presumptive starter.
  10. The make rate is 83.8% this season vs. 85.9% last season which was the second highest ever. So the kickers are missing about 13% more kicks this season vs last. Last time it was lower was 81.6% in 2019. The make rate on 50 yard+ field goals is the highest it has ever been. So the rate is a little bit but not a lot lower. I think it feels like there are a lot more misses than usual because some established names have been incredibly bad: Dustin Hopkins (64%), Justin Tucker (70%), Younghoe Koo (73%) and others.
  11. Returning to the OP's original question of Ray Davis vs. Baelon Allen , Baelon Allen has completely fallen off a cliff in his last 8 games. In that span, Baelon Allen has 40 carries for 110 yards (2.75 yards per carry). A lot of his carries are probably in short yardage situations but he had 4.8 ypc on 26 carries in the first 4 games. Allen's receiving stats are even worse. He has 5 receptions on 9 targets for 40 yards (8.0 ypr, 4.4 ypt) during the 8 games. How does a running back have a 55% reception rate? For comparison, Davis' stats over his last 8 games are 54 carries for 267 yards (4.94 ypc) and 8 receptions on 9 targets for 139 yards (17.4 ypr, 15.4 ypt). It makes you feel sorry for anyone drafted by the New York Jets. It seems the longer you play for the Jets the worse you get.
  12. I had no intention of steering this thread anywhere. It had been steered off that post a long time ago as with most threads on the board. I was just responding to what a majority of the posts in this thread was about.
  13. You may not care but most of this thread is about how Collinsworth has some kind of anti-Bill bias when almost everything he said was extremely complimentary to the Bills and to Josh Allen in particular.
  14. Its pretty clear people hear what they want to hear. Does Collinsworth say some stupid things sometimes? Of course he does, but the man was slobbering over the Bills and Josh Allen the whole time. I guarantee you that most 49ers fans were disgusted with how pro-Bills the commentary was and how much he was ball-washing Allen. Yeah, he talked about the Chiefs at the end but that was because the next SNF game is in Kansas City. What did you want him to talk about? How well Trubisky was handing off? For me, I would much rather listen to him than to Romo.
  15. That's what everybody is reporting but I don't see how Mara can keep Daboll given how badly the Giants are playing. The Giants don't have to win but there will be a huge amount of pressure to fire Daboll if the Giants continue to looks so disorganized and non-competitive. If Mara fires Daboll, it wouldn't make sense to let Schoen pick the next coach given that there is a good chance Schoen will be fired in a year.
  16. Gilliam plays an entirely different role from Cook, Davis, and Johnson. Gilliam has pretty much the same numbers as he had last season, 85% of special team snaps and 9% of offensive snaps.
  17. From the New York media reports Mara wants to give at least Scheon and maybe both another chance indicating that Mara strongly influence the Jones decision. However, I don't think he will be able to keep them if the team is uncompetitive as they were last Sunday.
  18. Supposedly Woody Johnson flew in on his helicopter to fire Joe Douglas in the middle of practice. Obviously Douglas was gone at the end of the season but it appears the timing of the firing was a spur of the moment thing. I am going to guess Johnson heard about the Russini article coming out and assumed that Douglas was the source. https://www.si.com/nfl/jay-glazer-shares-how-joe-douglas-joked-about-getting-fired-right-before-he-got-fired
  19. What Cimini said on his podcast was that it some people at the meeting thought Johnson was serious and others thought he wasn't. He felt it was most likely Johnson wasn't serious in the sense it was more "What if we bench Rodgers?" rather than "Bench Rodgers". I've been at enough meetings like that that this seems reasonable to me.
  20. Gruden was not very successful with the Raiders and would have been fired sooner except for the 10 year contract. Dick Vermiel did not go back to the same team.
  21. Didn't Cooper pretty much say the same thing after an earlier game?
  22. I think original question was which QB had accomplished the least BEFORE a big second contract. Obviously Rodgers and Wilson had won Super Bowls before. Even Watson had accomplished more over a longer period of time before his second contract with Houston or his contract with the Browns. I think there is a pretty good case for Jones being the least accomplished before signing. Sam Bradford and Brock Osweiler who were mentioned already are also good candidates though both were not with their second contracts were not with their original teams. One who hasn't been mentioned is Carson Wentz who was only really good for two thirds of a season before his 2nd contract.
  23. I think there is a pretty good chance that Rex Ryan will be the Jet coach. Woody Johnson wants a name. I don't think there is any "name" outside of Rex who would be willing to work for Johnson. Plus, if Johnson really does pay attention to social media, there's a lot of loud Jets fans such as Joe Benigno calling on the Jets to hire Ryan.
  24. The Bills were better last season (20th in YAC per completion). However, before that the Bills were 31st in 2022 and dead last in 2021. The Bills were 23rd in 2020. It would be interesting to see the breakdown between Dorsey and Brady last season.
  25. As someone pointed out upthread, Saleh and LaFleur are long time friends. They were housemates when they were assistant coaches at Central Michigan and LeFleur was the best man at Saleh's wedding. This is just a guy with some unexpected time on his hands helping out a friend and spending some time together. I highly doubt he would join McDermott (or any other team except the 49ers) to do the same thing. Also, there is certainly no indication from the Jets offense the last few years that Saleh is any good at advising offenses on how to prepare for opposing defenses. I can just imagine the reaction of this board if McDermott hired Saleh to advise the Bills' offense.
