  1. Yeah, the Christian Hackenberg pick in 2016 was WTF from the moment it was made. You are doing pretty badly when you have two second round picks within 4 years play zero snaps for your team.
  2. They don't have any example of people being offended. It a case of people being offended by people being offended.
  3. Who, exactly, has said they were offended? There is nothing in the article with examples of people who actually said they were offended.
  4. Right. Some people thought Jalen Virgil was a courtesy cut. Forget about it -- he was actually released with an injury designation.
  5. It has nothing to do with what Chicago wants and as usual it's about what makes the most money for the Bears. The Bears wanted a lot of money from the state and city to build downtown and were rejected. The Bears own 350 acres in Arlington Heights so they think they can make more money building the stadium there and developing the surrounding area. Arlington Heights might also be willing to give them tax incentives.
  6. Don't forget preseason Hall of Famer Brandon Reilly.
  7. Most likely this was mentioned before but the Bills didn't have a choice. Previous to this season any team that had made the playoffs the previous two seasons were allowed to decline. This was why the most recent seasons were mostly the leagues sad sacks and why episode one has so much less drama.
  8. I'm pretty sure they were before they had the pads on.
  9. I agree that picks in training camp doesn't matter. I strongly disagree that turnovers don't matter during the season. Minimizing turnovers was what made the Bills offense so remarkably efficient last season and why Allen was the MVP. If the Bills had the same number of turnovers last season as 2023 they would probably have finished 10 and 7 again or worse considering the state of the defense.
  10. You are arguing context but there was no context in the original statement - simply that four Super Bowl wins and zero losses is better than four Super Bowls wins and 2 losses. I agree winning in the finals does raise ones status exponentially however in this case the two have the same number of Super Bowls wins at the age you are comparing. I don't think losing in a couple of Super Bowls subtracts from the wins but rather adds (a little bit) to it.
  11. I have never understood this line of reasoning. Why is it better to lose in an earlier round versus getting to the Super Bowl and then losing? To me, everything else being equal, going 4 and 2 in the Super Bowl is obviously better than going 4 and 0.
  12. The players make significantly less during preseason compared to practice squad. It is between 2k and 3.5k per week depending on experience plus room and board.
  13. Beane has been pretty defensive lately. First blowing up a standard question about his handling of the wr situation and now claiming that he was right and his boss was wrong. Textbook example of what you should not be doing.
  14. I assume that Dude Wipes offered the most money. I am sure that Dude Wipes felt that a team call the Browns would be a natural fit as a marketing partner.
  15. The Browns helmet unveiling was sponsored by Dude Wipes who also sponsors the influencer so it is likely he got in thru that connection. One would think the Browns didn't know about his plan but who knows? Maybe someone in the Browns org felt all publicity is good publicity.
  16. Mostly likely was staged even if the Browns didn't know about it -- the guy who fell in the water was an "influencer" who immediately put the video on his feeds.
  17. Maybe the last couple of years but before that Rousseau was regarded as a high ceiling, low floor guy and so were Knox and Elam.
  18. All four of the Jets coaches listed, Ewbanks, Michaels, Walton, and Ryan were sub 500. How is that possible?
  19. The only surprise is that he didn't try wait it out until his contract expires next year. The NFLPA really needs to do a better job when they choose their executive director. Based on their last two hires it appears Roger Goodell was the head of the search committees.
  20. The Jets have invested a lot in their offensive line. They just haven't gotten very good return on investment though the line was pretty decent during the back end of the last season.
  21. The NFLPA is supposed to get the best deal that they can get for the players. It is not the purpose of the NFLPA to protect the owners from themselves. NFL players get 48% of football related income. NBA players get 51% and NHL players get 50%. The average NBA salary is about $12M, the average NHL salary is $3.5M and the average NFL salary is $3.2M. NBA and NHL contracts are mostly guaranteed while most NFL contracts are not even though NFL players have shorter careers and are more likely to have serious injuries. Increasing the fraction to the players to 50% will drive zero teams out of business nor will it affect ticket prices, how many streaming platforms games appear on nor how many international games there are. No matter how you look at it, the NFL players have the worse CBA is any major sport.
  22. The players do have a problem with the NFLPA leadership. They ousted the previous president of the NFLPA, DeMaurice Smith for giving away too much to the NFL during the last contract negotiations in 2023 and they don't seem to be too happy with the new one also. I would not be surprise if he is also ousted when his contract runs out. Like I said before, they should have gotten a lot more for agreeing to go to a 17th game.
  23. It is would have been something that players don't like and would have been incredibly easy to get given how much the NFL wanted the 17th game, something akin to getting floor mats when you buy a car.
  24. What surprised me was that the union was so weak they couldn't have at least gotten rid of the franchise and transition tag in exchange for adding game 17. They left so much on the table in the last negotiations that it wouldn't be shocking to me if someone at the top of the NFLPA was on the take.
  25. Don't want to be too cynical, but it reads like it was written by his agent. However, if he really was able to stay off social media for 6 months, it is already a sign he has matured.
