I agree with you, but McD isn't getting the boot this season or likely next season either. Like it or not, but he has a long lease inside the org. Move on from Dorsey and put Shula in the OC spot. I don't see how it can be worse than Dorsey. At least 1. I think the McD's gotta go crowd has a point, I just don't see it happening.
-
I don't know but it's much more realistic to move on from Dorsey. If you see the same problems then you know it's likely McD. Seems straightforward to me, but I'm oversimplifying it.

I think a lot of the McD "doomers" have a point, but you're definitely right. He's not going anywhere this season, or probably next. Moving on from Dorsey is realistic and in my opinion a change that is needed.

You can find plays every game where a WR is wide open and the QB just never gets to the read, doesn't see it, whatever. It's obtuse to pretend that everyone else is perfect.
-
You can find plays like this with virtually every quarterback in every game.
-
It's likely that play is designed to go to Harty unless the safety rolls back into double coverage. You can say "he didn't go through his reads" but not every play is supposed to have built-in progression. Sometimes WRs are out there just to make space for the intended guy. That being said, none of us are there in the room so it's speculation. Plenty of evidence to show Allen go through his reads though.

MNF Thread - Chargers at Jets (No comments about the Bills here)

The Jets have about the best defense you can ask for. Look how far that’s getting them. Maybe some other defensive obsessed head coaches should take note. -
McDermott answers why we stopped uptempo offense

It’s reported McDermott went away from a winning culture because he wanted to get to other styles of cultures. -

Keenan Allen is good at football. What a grab. -

I’m talking about the OC, but sure. It’s a risk It’s a gamble, but if they just plug in Joe Brady or one of the other former OCs on the coaching staff I don’t think it would be as disruptive as you’re making it out to be. Dorsey has been flat out bad. Something’s got to give. -

If the current scheme and playcalling is holding the team back, like many of us believe, then bringing in anyone regardless of the learning curve would probably be a net positive. -

I’ll settle for getting rid of Dorsey, for the time being. -

Wilson makes the Jets miss Darnold. -
Hard for a CB to get an INT when they play 5 yards away from their man at all times.

I hate that I agree with you. If I was betting on it I would bet Dorsey sticks around the season, even though it’s clear things aren’t working. -

Yeah so that’s a completely unacceptable response, and honestly kind of pathetic. McD is just making it easier for the fan base to turn on him with answers like that. -
I'm gonna say that getting changing the OC isn't a minor tweak. I'm also gonna say that I don't disagree with what you're saying, but unless we completely bottom out for the rest of the season I don't see any world where McD even gets on the hot seat.

Absolutely. I think Joe's opinion is probably the best in all of the Buffalo media; he just understands the game at a really high level and is excellent at scouting talent. There seems to be fairly universal agreement that Dorsey needs to either radically change or be fired. I'm all for the firing.

Poll: Top reason for the Offense's underperformance
Bruffalo replied to Fan in Chicago's topic in The Stadium Wall
I think the O-Line looks worse than they are in reality precisely because of Dorsey. It feels like the defense always knows what we're doing (and we succeed in spite of that), and I think that puts a lot more strain on the players to execute, because there's no creativity. On the hurry up we succeed as a unit. Why is that? To me, it seems like it's because Dorsey has less involvement in play decisions during those up tempo moments. -
From the outside looking in, it looks like McDermott would be miserable to be around for any extended period of time, and he's always citing "execution" as the point of the Bills woes for the last two seasons. Part of it is true, but the coaching staff, particularly on offense, are doing a miserable job of putting their players in positions to succeed.

Yes, sometimes you get lucky. I'm not sure what your point is.
-
Our secondary plays so far off man that the flats and 1-8 yard past the LOS is seemingly always open. The blitz seems to never work because the opposing QB sees a guy basically uncovered and makes the pass.
-
He was effective when the rest of the defense was healthy. He had some decent plays last night. He's not a game wrecker and you'll rarely find a DE who is one at the end of the first round.

It would also be the last time you heard from them. Schopp & Bulldog are on the negative slant, OBL is essentially propaganda, and the morning show falls somewhere in the middle. Joe Dibiase is probably my favorite of the bunch and has more of the level headed takes.
