  1. Agreed, it was late too, that was on JA
  2. it definitely felt like Josh decided he was going to get his shots against N.O. Or maybe it was Brady deciding to get some on tape to get teams thinking.. that sure didn’t work either way. The WRs didn’t get open, the line didn’t hold and Josh didn’t make time/pull off miracles at will. Not a good day in that respect.
  3. Do you have any evidence he’s not? Do you know how the separation metrics are calculated or even what they truly indicate?
  4. Same story, different year. I don’t know why it’s hard to see where the issue lies. This is a top down problem, yet they fire the middlemen.
  5. Opening my own eyes. His separation metrics get skewed when teams play zone and don’t man anyone. When it comes down to someone actually manning him up from the line, he’s just a big guy that jumps over them.
  6. Essentially, it’s the same as last year. Unfortunately, it’s likely to end that way too if the D can’t get it in gear.
  7. He’s still just not good at separating, but he does seem to be using his body well and coming down with contested catches. I’m not sure he’ll ever be much more than a solid #3 if this is his game, but hopefully he keeps working and proves my theory wrong.
  8. Knox was a blocker in college and still is primarily a blocker now, his inconsistency as a receiver is why they drafted Kincaid. Knox is an over priced #2/3 TE that Bills fans have delusions about being worth his contract. His production is easily replaceable by any journeyman TE. He should be in the 4M a year TE camp, instead Beane grossly overpaid him, based on what seemed like it was going to be his break out year and he’s done nothing more since. Hawes is out producing him already, as a 5th round pick. Knox is a FA or takes a MAJOR pay cut to be in Buffalo next year.
  9. See!? This is the type of stuff Beane just isn’t paying attention to! Again, analytics have clearly missed this one.
  10. That’s pretty much it. He was drafted on a projection of what he COULD be, not what he is. He’s a giant man, with good, not great athleticism (by NFL standards) and by all accounts a hard worker. I think fans were expecting more than he’s shown thus far, but based on him falling down the draft boards from the original projections, it looks like the NFL talent evaluators saw something they weren’t as hyped on as the fans. TYPICALLY, those guys are more right than fans. He looks to lack the “bend” around the edge the really good ones have, I don’t know if that can be taught per se or if it’s really more of a God given gift. He was getting flushed with ease in the preseason, by guys who also aren’t on active rosters right now, so it’s not a great start. There’s a chance he could be something, there’s a higher probability, he doesn’t work out to be anything in the NFL, the odds are not in favor of people making it, no matter what we all want to think. At the end of the day, there are 32 teams and at best there’s 6 DE spots a team, so less than 200 people employed world wide for the job, it’s not great odds of making it, even when drafted to do it. I have hopes he figures it out and develops into something, he seemed like a solid value in round 3, much like AJE in round 2, but take a look at AJE, he’s nothing special (again, by NFL standards). Odds are, if Jackson gets it going, you might get a similar type of production from him. I know people saw a big, crazy looking, white guy and thought Max Crosby had landed here and maybe he will turn out to be that, but it’s 99.9% more likely you get Chris Kelsey at best. You may be right, but honestly I think he has some talent and might be showing more in practice. He’s another late round guy, trying to make a mark and I’d agree he hasn’t been able to do a lot, but he is on the field and that’s no small feat for a guy in his position. I don’t think they would play him if there wasn’t something there. With the depth at DE, he must be doing something to see the field.
  11. It’s this kind of in the box thinking that got us here in the first place, it’s time to go big.
  12. I wonder if he’s been working on it since he got cut? Might be his best path to a career.
  13. There were a number of slips today, but as I hear it, they are so committed to quality they are just going to replace the whole stadium for next year.
  14. I’m not sure it was a good thing in retrospect, with KC looking like they got it in gear it might be better off to have the Chargers take the division and make it harder on KC in (or to get into) the playoffs.
  15. It’s not QUITE there yet, but it’s going to be an uphill battle for sure.
  16. All I’m saying is, McD ain’t big enough to stop JA from going back out there, there would be no pulling him off the field.
  17. I can’t believe he was able to walk off. Looked like he threw up when he stood up and then had it come back out to hold, guy has some balls if nothing else.
  18. The good news is, these penalties are only about 6” each.
  19. Which goes back to the coaching wanting fast guys, not the right guys.
  20. Looks like another punter change is incoming.
  21. Man, this D is a problem, they can’t get off the field on 3rd down and then simply can’t tackle. I don’t understand how the middle of the field is CONSISTENTLY wide open and nobody can get home on the QB. At this point, I don’t know where to point the finger, but I’d be nervous about my job if I were Babbich.
