Eric Dickerson Claims Teams Were Told To Not Draft Shedeur Sanders
DCofNC replied to H2o's topic in The Stadium Wall
I can see that being 100% true. The players COULD really hurt the owners if they band together in a big way. All the other leagues show it, either you have the best talent or you don’t have much of anything. If players get it in their heads they are the show, the owners are going to have to give up more money, they don’t want to do that. -
No, are you worth millions? Just wondering, are frog ***** considered a delicacy?
-
Oh does it? When he drafted 1st overall and got Bruce , Peyton, Thurman in what round? Andre in what round? Beebee? Now the real fun, what round did he draft Lofton or Bisquit? Get your facts straight. You want to argue Harrison or Freeney or Wayne? Now you have a case. Otherwise you are a Bills drunk fool. Later picks DO COUNT, it’s the only reason he’s employed. My issue is the lack or elite talent. Nobody would question him if he was a Roseman type who was hitting on all the 1st round picks, the problem is he wastes pick after pick when the pool is deep. Don’t tell me you are an elite talent evaluator when you have Elam 5 rounds higher than Benford when Benford has the job 2 weeks into training camp.
-
So you mean to tell me, you believe he did more than follow their board in the 3rd, 4th and 6th rounds? Or he knew he was getting top players at that point in the draft and didn’t bother to pick them in the earlier rounds because he wanted to pay guys who can’t make the field more money? What is it? It’s not pure luck, but if he’s so great, why has he only found one outstanding player in the first round, 1 above average RB in the second round and 1 let’s call him “top 10” RTs in the third in 8 tries. Yes he’s hit on later round picks, that’s great, but why can’t he identify real talent early on? He’s failed miserably at it and quite honestly, if this board were running the first 2 rounds, the team probably would be more talented at this point. The only thing he has to hang his hat on is Allen. It’s the same ***** Pollian did, he got a QB and built mediocre teams around them, forcing the QB to be flawless for the team to win, yet took all the credit for squeaking out a couple championships. Do you think Bellicheck is a great GM because he found Brady in the 6th round? I’m willing to bet you don’t because it’s obvious he wasn’t and the team was dog crap without the QB.

I expect an @$$ Whooping by the Ravens. This team is doing a lot of yapping about the SB, that’s really presumptuous considering they are relying on rookies to fix the holes in the D. This is regular season Lamar and a fresh Henry against a DL that has next to no gel time and nothing sure at DT again, plus arguably the worst S group in the NFL, it’s going to be REAL HARD to keep it close, unless playoff Lamar shows up.
-
You do understand that you are the only person on earth that has Brown as top 5 at the position, right? Either way, 1 great pick in 8 seasons and if you want to claim to be right, you have 2. Mind you, if he was so great as a talent evaluator, you might expect more than 1 in 25 on picks in the 1st 3 rounds.

Don’t you know the legacy of Beane? They will all be in the NFL longer than anyone signed/drafted by any other GM.

Call me nuts, I’d take Shavers. The only time Davis looks good is when Josh is on the run and he seems to find a spot for Josh to throw to. That much, he’s amazing, pretty much everything else, he’s pretty mediocre. It’s not his fault he got asked to be more than he is here. Great for him, he got paid for it. As a #4 or 5 he’s good, but I’d swing for the younger guy with better hands.

Paging Draftniks: Bills sign LSU CB Zy Alexander (and some other dudes)
DCofNC replied to Logic's topic in The Stadium Wall
Just one less buyer for Josh’s house when he leaves for LA -
FFS, the guy accounted for more INTs than JA threw all of last season when he was gone. As long as there are ABSOLUTELY no option routes on his dimly lit tree, I guess it’s ok.

You have your Bills fan glasses on. Singletary is below average as a starter. Knox is barely average and certainly not above average as a starter and is massively overpaid. Zack Moss, you are really arguing the “success” of spending a 3rd round pick on a guy that’s on what, his 4th team? He’s a nice story for a guy who grinds it out, but was a complete bust here and that’s really all that matters. Bernard is average. There is nothing above average about him, especially with all the injuries. Dorian Williams is not above average as a back up and is not going to be starting ( or we might as well mail the season in), I like the guy, but let’s just be real, great athlete, but can’t take a job on one of the worst LB depth charts in the league. DeWayne Carter is going to be lucky to be in the league by the end of camp.

No, you are the definition of a fan. You are blind to the fact this team is filled with average talent that is elevated by Allen. Beane has whiffed consistently on the top end of the draft. You can beat the “more players in the league than others” drum all you want, the facts are the facts. Yet, there is next to zero top level talent on this team that Beane brought in, especially if you consider the number of swings he’s taken at positions and consistently missed. His ONLY claims to fame are Benford, who was a nice 6th round pick, but that’s not so exciting when you wasted a 1st round pick in the same draft on a CB that essentially never saw the field in the Bills uniform and Cook, who was his 3rd swing at RB with zero hits there too. This team is full of “good” players and no difference makers. The reason this team get bounced, year after year by more talented teams is THEY ARE LESS TALENTED. The reason this team is LAST in available cap space and has exactly 3 guys anyone outside of Buffalo might know on the roster (and that’s actually debatable as most don’t know OL) is piss poor drafting of elite talent. They keep trying to sign their own talent, which only perpetuates the cycle of mediocre talent. Who’s else is super pumped to have top 10 pick, definition of mediocre, Ed Oliver locked up? Or Mr. Glass with 2/3 of a season of above average production on tape at off the ball LB, locked up? Believe what you want, until this team gets real talent in the draft, they will continue to be a brides maid. Beane’s blind eye at WR, DE, S, CB and DT will again be the reason this team will be bounced before the SB, because Allen can only carry two sub par talented sides of the ball so far.
-
Correct, my bad. Still the consequences of having no talent at a position they wasted a first round pick on.
-
Let’s not forget, they traded down out of the first round, missing on other options to “get back” the third they wasted on Cooper. Which all stemmed from not being able to draft well in the early rounds since Allen was picked. I hate to break it to everyone, but the evaluation of talent is atrocious for this team. Take away Allen and this regime is gone 4 years ago.

If you are cutting Hamlin, do it now...
DCofNC replied to Ethan in Cleveland's topic in The Stadium Wall
Sadly, I agree. There’s no way the backend of the D will hold up against playoff teams. Unless something goes really sideways for Baltimore I expect an absolute WHOOPIN the first game. Hopefully, it serves as a wake up call to the team. Allen is greatness defined and the rest of the team is pretty much “mid” defined. -
Preseason Week 2 Bills at Bears - Game thread
DCofNC replied to HappyDays's topic in The Stadium Wall
If performance in the games matter, I’d say QB 2 is MT and we wasted a lot of money / hope on more garbage WRs. Looks to me like Moore, Hamler, and all the others for that matter have done nothing to earn a spot. I’d have Shavers making it. -
Spot on. It will be tough to get a high end WR to come here in FA. Yep, see D-Hop to TN.
-
Unappealing to all WRs so far, it’s 50% run plays and no one alpha gets all the targets. Why would any WR want to come here and lose Money for themselves?
-
It’s actually better for 4 years with 30M for cap purposes. I don’t love the deal, I don’t think he’s THAT good, but on a team with next to zero high end talent in the O, he’s valuable. I agree, shorter would be more ideal from a sense of being able to move on, but I’m going to guess that a lot of the money is in signing bonus so he gets paid now and the cap hit gets spread out over 4 years.
-
But can an RB be a holder? Then a team could actually carry the best punter.
-
I literally named an alternative. The guy is boring AF. He definitely belongs on the History Channel, perfect voice to take a nap to.
-
That narrator, he belongs on an animal planet documentary, almost as bad as Collinsworth. Hire Mike Rowe or really anyone with some voice inflection please.
-
I think both parties are right here. Cook doesn’t want to risk injury and wants to be paid like a top back. The Bills want to keep a talented player, but on their terms. Both are right for their own interests. How does it end? That we shall see. I’d see if the Panthers are willing to trade for him, just to threaten 🤣
-
Yes, I don’t really care what they do with Keon, but they HAVE to get Kindcaid working that middle or it’s a complete waste of a 1st round pick and then some. I would love to see Kincaid break out as the go to weapon he’s supposed to be, kind of Whitten-esque, there’s still plenty of room for a true slot to work with him. For now, I see Moore getting more reps in the Shakir role and him moving more outside as Shakir returns. Moore and Shakir are very similar players, with more natural ability probably going to Moore. Shakir is an animal, so his spot is beyond secure, but there’s plenty of guys that can step into that role and be ok.
