Yeah…hitting on the qb will buy you a lot of time. It’s starting to get a little critical for him though. Gotta start hitting on some of these guys.
-
I hated the Elam pick too. I dreaded corner in round 1, then they traded up for one. Haha. That was horrible. I wanted them to get Hall in 1 and wait on Woolen or Taylor-Britt. Hmmm… Except we have mostly sucked at drafting in rounds 2 and 3…

I remember the draft where we took Rousseau and a bunch of depth players. This was right after we made it to the AFC title game. Instead of drafting some pro ready guys, we took Basham, brown, Doyle, etc. I remember being super pissed that we didn’t get guys that would help us immediately.

You understand that they can move up and then trade down in 2 or 3 and recoup picks, right? They can also trade a future pick or player.

Wr Overload and what really needs to get done
whorlnut replied to NastyNateSoldiers's topic in The Stadium Wall
Totally agree. It’s on Beane to fix this. Also…it’s funny to me that the OP says the WR talk has gotten out of hand is “borderline annoying”. I’ve honestly never been more annoyed than this year hearing about MLB and Jack Campbell in particular. That is what has gotten COMPLETELY out of hand IMO. As if our future successes are tied to one guy in particular, and a MLB at that. I’ve said it in numerous posts…a MLB scares no team. In fact, I think teams like the chiefs, bengals, jets, and dolphins HOPE we go that route early. The trust is…no team wants us to get weapons for Allen. That’s what will get us over the hump. And I really feel like Beane knows this after last season. There are other rounds for oline and dline too. Why is everyone so programmed to believe we can’t get weapons early? To me it doesn’t matter where the “strengths” are. If you identify your guy, go get him no matter what. -
WHAT?! Hahahaha!!!! Our offense was at its best when he was producing. No one can deny that. He isn’t wrong with what he said.

Do you like arguing just to argue?

Yep. Same. And what really irritates me above all else is those that suggest we “wait till the second round”. As if there are guarantees we will have anyone there that we value. The fact is…we are gonna be doing this same song and dance every year until they finally address WR.

Peter King/FMIA/PFT 1st Round Mock Draft
whorlnut replied to Sierra Foothills's topic in The Stadium Wall
You don’t get it. If the bills have 15 first round grades and other teams take players that they have graded later, then first round graded players fall. It’s very conceivable that there will be a player or players that might be there that are graded as firsts. -

There is no way of saying for sure the pick at 27 would be a second round graded player. We have no idea who the bills have graded in the first. Each team has a different board. There could conceivably be more than one player at 27 that the bills have a first on. There could also be zero. It’s just not a fact to say that pick 27 is a second round graded player. Peter King/FMIA/PFT 1st Round Mock Draft
whorlnut replied to Sierra Foothills's topic in The Stadium Wall
They literally brought Beasley out of retirement cause they didn’t have anyone that could replace his value last year. Allen was at his best in 2020 when Beasley was still really good and we had a good oline. Coincidence? -
Let me get this straight…one side of your mouth spouts off about not getting upset and enjoying the ride, so to speak. The other says that you hope people are upset and want chaos. Maybe football isn’t YOUR thing… What are you talking about? I said trade UP, not DOWN. And you laid out the very reason why one would trade up. To make sure you get your guy. I’m really not sure what you are trying to say…
-
I agree, but we can wait till later to fill that hole. We’ve been doing that for years at WR
-
Again…if Beane can trade up 2 spots in a deep draft for corners for the last guy with a first round grade, what precludes him for doing it for a receiver? You could use a future pick or even trade down in another round to recoup some of the picks. We literally saw that play out last year.
-
This sums it up nicely…
-
We could also trade up. No one wants to consider that as a possibility, but we’ve seen it multiple times from Beane.
-
Well I completely disagree. Most of the fanbase is just sick of the defense in the first narrative and I think Beane knows this is the year to help out his franchise qb. We watched weapons being the biggest need all season and losing edmunds shouldn’t change anything. That need still exists. I’m sorry, but Harty and Sherfield are nothing more than WR4/WR5 ST signings. They aren’t fitting into the long term plans of the team. Yes…there is no DT signed beyond this year, but other than Diggs (who will be 31 next season) and an unproven Shakir, the WR room has similar issues. This is a passing league and we have one of the top QBs in the game. Show the guy some good faith and get him some help.
-
Yep…and that’s why I laugh at the idea of BPA. Beane has never done that, but most of his apologists say he does. Now…I don’t necessarily think he reaches too far for players, but let’s not pretend that he doesn’t draft for need. This year will be interesting. I don’t think he will draft a LB before 2, but if he does, imo he deserves every ounce of criticism that he will get.
-
I wanted the bills to wait on corner in a deep class and land woolen or Taylor Britt. Beane got antsy and moved up to get the last guy on their board instead of waiting. The idea that he is gonna trade back when we have a need at receiver this year is funny to me.
-
A “hole” at MLB? Haha. Whether you want to acknowledge it or not, the Bills did just sign Klein. How is the need at WR any different than that with the underwhelming signings of Harty and Sherfield? Another legit receiver takes us to the next level long before a MLBer does.
-
Yeah it would suck to get possibly the best player in the draft.
