They can't win if they can't make the roster. When McD was turning over more than half the roster you could count on a few UDFAs making it. Now there can't be more than 5 roster spots up for grabs. Of course there are many more practice squad jobs available and some UDFAs will make the PS.

For those wanting JOK, where would you play him? At MLB and move Edmunds outside? Doesn't seem tall enough to play outside, and not fast enough to play big nickel. I repeatedly bash Edmunds but the staff seems committed to him at MLB.

JOK was not supposed to be there at 30. There are lots of players that might drop Bills are actually not a good UDFA destination. There is almost zero chance a UDFA makes this roster. They were a destination before.Any UDFA is just training camp body

There are only two spots on the roster that would make sense. Edge and TE. There are only a few TE's in the league worthy of giving up a first round pick, and none of them would be traded by their respective teams. That leave edge rusher. As has been pointed out the cost of a veteran edge is substantial. They don't have the cap space to pull that off. They need to get younger on the DL. Beane just needs to make some solid moves and picks. Just come away with one additional dynamic player on offense - RB or TE and an edge rusher early and add depth at center, CB, 1-tech DT.

Normally I favor trade down to acquire more picks. But that is not the right scenario now. The roster is loaded. They only have 2 maybe 3 spots on the entire roster that are not settled. This is the year to move up and get your star RB or pass rusher. If one of the WRs falls, maybe that is a guy to target. If there are no willing partners to trade up, moving back a few spots and picking up a late third or early fourth may be wise. Then you get 4 players from say 35 to 110 or so, and at slightly less cost. Beane needs to use those late round picks as capital to move up or just give away for higher rounds next year. With punter and kicker settled, there is almost zero chance a 5th round or later pick makes the roster.
