The pessimism thread - That game didn’t go as planned
Nextmanup replied to Einstein's topic in The Stadium Wall
We weren't expecting the Fish to lose by 3 in a tense, close game, made that way SOLELY through the Bills own huge mistakes and sloppy football...which is probably now to be expected. The whole "division rival" thing is over played. Look at the stats in this game! We should have won by 21. -
How confident are you the Bills beat the Bengals?
Nextmanup replied to Steptide's topic in The Stadium Wall
This is the game a bunch of us have been warning fans about for 8 or 9 weeks now. At some point, our sloppy "Hey, I'll take it anyway" wins were always going to come back to bite us in the butt, once we ran into a good enough team in the playoffs. That day is this Sunday. HOWEVER, we could get lucky and the Bengals could be off their game too, also making mistakes... OR, 2) we could FINALLY put it all together and play to the best of our abilities. Either could result in a Bills win. No one is going to know a THING about how this is going to play out until the actual game unfolds on Sunday. Though I guess that's always true... -
Florio: Brady to the Dolphins "Definitely on the Table"
Nextmanup replied to Nextmanup's topic in The Stadium Wall
I think this is likely a very popular opinion right now, but it's not right. He's not good enough to do it all by himself anymore, but he's much better STILL than a journeyman. He would/will be great in Miami with their receivers. I actually think this is where he'll end up for this and a bunch of other reasons. The downside is we don't need him in our division again! The upside is the Bills/Miami rivalry would be as big as EVER if he goes there. And I am getting aroused just thinking about cheering for Bills players to physically hurt Brady again! So there's that! Nah, the guy is the fiercest competitor in the history of the league! He is one of the type who will have to be TOLD to leave, when he gets cut and no one signs him. He'll NEVER walk away if he still thinks playing is an option, especially with the divorce. That's my 2 cents. -
If that's true, wow, that's bad.

Shady and Poyer talking about Hyde possibly returning this week
Nextmanup replied to extrahammer's topic in The Stadium Wall
Of course it's not going to be up to Hyde individually. It will be a huge group decision made by about 6 people, and the conversation won't even start until he's fully medically cleared to play and the coaching staff is convinced he's up to speed and won't be a liability on the field. You can argue Tre White came back too soon, based purely on his performance. Here's how it will work: if there's any possible way Hyde can go, and and be an improvement over what we have now, he'll be out there. The season is on the line here. -
If what you write here is correct, that's entirely on coaching. It's their job to make Josh the best he can be and to wipe out bad habits. I still can't believe they haven't impressed on him the importance of holding onto the ball correctly when he runs. He holds it "loaf of break" style in one hand, then waves his huge arm all around....3 o'clock, noon, 9 o'clock, back to 3'clock. Now wonder he has been a fumble machine this year.

When we fail to make the playoffs, or even engage in a seriously close playoff push, think back to January 17th, when we took a 3-1 lead into the 3rd period against the worst team in hockey and came away with 1 point and not 2. Just can't play like this and expect to actually get back in it.

Would it have been too easy for you to simply ignore it if you think it's unnecessary? I guess so.

I thought this thread was going to be a link to the Kelce brothers new podcast that they are doing. Gronk was on recently and he discussed in some detail the whole situation about almost joining the Bills. He is a little vague in how he discusses it, but he says something like "if I had really felt it, I would have been a Bill this past year." He definitely confirms that the Bills talked with him and tried to get him on the team...which I LOVE. Good old Beane--the guy is the best thing about this franchise right now, save Josh. Sounds like Gronk's heart wasn't really in it and he didn't really want to come out of retirement. Maybe next year! We can hope. https://podtail.com/en/podcast/new-heights/gronk-on-travis-rivalry-nfl-comeback-relationship-/

Yeah, you would have thought actual Buffalo Bills on the field right next to it would have cared about it. But apparently, no.

How confident are you the Bills beat the Bengals?
Nextmanup replied to Steptide's topic in The Stadium Wall
I would lower your 65% to 60%, then reverse it. I say 60% probability Bengals win, 40% Bills win. If Josh is on fire and doesn't turn the ball over, we'll win! -
The Dallas kicker needs to figure out how to get some of this cheating going! Dude missed 4 extra points in a row last night. You can't argue that is not PURE PSYCHOLOGY. And yet some people rely so heavily on statistics and refuse to accept that psychology is a HUGE part of sports, even at the highest levels.

What you say here is a problem in ALL of reporting. Yet there is a balance of integrity that can--and is--struck by the best out there. At the local level, like Bills announcers in a tiny market, no one is going to say anything negative ever. It's also worth pointing out that the announce team ARE EMPLOYEES OF THE BUFFALO BILLS. You are talking about Jerry Sullivan which is really not an analogous example.

I didn't notice this specifically, but I have noticed that the quality of a live sports broadcast in America seems to vary dramatically based on the cameras involved, and some of them are TERRIBLE. You would think all the big networks covering big time sports on TV would have more or less identical, really top notch, equipment. I guess not. I have noticed that the "HD" aspect of the camera will sometimes simply just disappear when they switch to a handheld camera at field level. Then they cut back to the main camera mounted somewhere up in the stadium and the HD returns. It can be terrible at times. On a related note, TBS/TNT has not been able to televise a live baseball game EVER. Every time they show early rounds of the playoffs, the audio is all screwed up. It's been that way for probably 15 years or more.

In her day, a stunning beauty, kind of in the Sofia Loren mold. Look at her waist in this photo...what is that? Like 16" in circumference? One of a million gorgeous women to come from Italia...the land of beauty in all forms.

Yeah, I don't have a problem with speaking ill of anyone--alive or dead. LOL

How about doing something radical, like directing this question to the Buffalo Bills, and not bunch of idiots at a chat forum?

Will your respect for Tom Brady change when he retires?
Nextmanup replied to Just Jack's topic in The Stadium Wall
You left off option 3: I respect the hell out of him NOW, have always done so, and will CONTINUE to do so once he retires. It's just that I HATE the guy. It's worth pointing out that had Tom Brady played the bulk of his good years in Buffalo, having arrived here by a total fluke during one of our horrific administrations over the years.... There would now be a 500 foot tall statue of him, in gold, in the center of Niagara Square. And WNYers would be naming their sons Thomas for generations. ***** Get that obelisk the hell out of there! That's where Brady's pillar goes! -
Josh Allen Bashers, what's your solution?
Nextmanup replied to ChicagoRic's topic in The Stadium Wall
Having just watched Brady play last night, he reminded me how much BETTER Josh could be at realizing a play is just totally off and not going to work, and then throw the ball away. Brady has been GREAT at that his entire career. How many big mistake plays has he given the other team over his career? None? Josh is averaging it once a game this year. -
This has turned into the thread of idiocy. Useful to figure out who to block though!

Josh Allen Bashers, what's your solution?
Nextmanup replied to ChicagoRic's topic in The Stadium Wall
We are also still learning the Josh has a LOT of ups and downs to his play. He's not going to be like Brady or Rodgers or Bries in their primes. With Josh, you have to take the good and the bad, it's absolutely a part of who he is. And then you just hope the good outweighs the bad enough to win a championship. -
After yesterday's game I have been hearing this highlight where he said "He's hot as a firecracker!" His voice cracks in the middle of it. It sounds utterly ridiculous and like something a kid was doing. He is still massively better than Murphy, who is HORRIFIC. Murphy should be replaced but Buffalo being Buffalo, he probably won't be.
