Ben Stiller used to have a show for a little while on MTV. He did a lot of Star Trek and I always thought he was hilarious. That show in general was really good. "Dog Trek Afternoon" had me in tears the first time I saw it.

I totally agree. People are focusing on acquiring an edge rusher to help the pass rush---adding another great cover CB can have the same effect.

A few months ago I said I would like to see a stud TE added to the team this off-season as Job #1. This isn't what I had in mind.

Trading any of our big names without first trying it with a real NHL head coach would be a colossal mistake. Just remember, if the Sabres put a trade package together involving Eichel or Reinhart, we aren't going to be getting a better player back in the deal.

Terry Pegula purchased the Sabres for $189 million. As of 2020, the team was valued at $385 million.

There are 3 great choices out there right now: Claude Julien, Bruce Boudreau, and Gerard Gallant. I think most intelligent Sabres fans would be happy with any of those 3, but Boudreau is probably the most popular choice. Here's the problem: if Boudreau was going to be named next HC, it would have happened today, commensurately with Ralph's firing. They have had plenty of time to iron that out and prepare for this day. No Boudreau (or other big 3 names) today means none of them at all IMO. I expect us to do the wrong thing, and hire a college coach, perhaps. The name to watch is Nate Leaman, current HC at Providence. This group of players needs a competent NHL coach who knows how to win. That's it! We have 3 great choices lined up...and we will hire none of them!

I watched the entire game tonight against the Caps. This is a low point in a season of low points. The team quit! If Ralph isn't fired TOMORROW, this franchise will suffer irrevocable damage. This is on TERRY PEGULA and no one else. RALPH MUST BE FIRED TOMORROW.

Is it time for Gronk to come home?
Nextmanup replied to BuffaloRebound's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
So give it to him; there are very few individual players would add as much to the Bills and impact our Wins and Losses as much as Gronk. Even at his age now. He moves the needle WAY MORE than someone like a good pass rusher would. -

Gronk to dip his toes into FA. Bring him in, 1 year only. He instantly makes us a better offense, despite not being 100% now. The way he played in the SB showed he still knows what he's doing, even at his age now. https://www.radio.com/wgr550/sports/bills/rob-gronkowski-i-want-to-dip-my-toes-in-free-agency -
The funny thing is *most* major league coaches, in any sport, tend to be this way. They have learned 1 way to do it coming up through their career, and only 1 way. They then shove that system onto the players even when it doesn't work. A master chef can make a great meal no matter what's looking good at the market that day. Not the same with professional sports coaching. Obviously, Ralph was a huge mistake. That point is beyond argument at this point. So the only question to ask, right now, is why is Ralph still around? Money? Terry actually thinks he'll turn it around? Terry is waiting for their #1 replacement option to become available? If it's the latter, they should still fire Ralph immediately. Retaining him at this point is bad for everyone involved. It makes Pegula look like an idiot or a jerk. It casts a really dark shadow on the Sabres brand, as viewed from around the league. And it puts poor old Ralph is a really bad spot too. He ran out of things to say a long time ago. He should be removed immediately, with an interim put in place until their ideal replacement candidate can be made available. So again, why in the world is Ralph still around? Good question, isn't it?

The interesting thing is that the industry has sort of gone back to the old days, before recording technology existed. I.E., if you are a musician, you make your money by traveling around and playing your music for audiences to listen to in a live setting.
-
You shouldn't expect Ralph to fire himself. The problem, right now, as always, rests with Pegula. I have no doubt Adams would have fired Ralph before now, if he had the power to do so. The question now is whether or not Ralph will be fired at the end of the year! He might be around next year too! There are 4 million reasons why.

The funny thing is that skilled pugilists are no longer in the league. Everyone has to be able to play and the "fighters" left these days aren't fighters at all. Many teams, like the Sabres, don't have one at all. As the league changes more and more in this direction, I think there actually would be an opportunity to gain a competitive advantage via the Broad Street Bully approach, again. If it was successful, it would only last until other teams start to counter. But for a season or 2, I think it could work! God knows it would be fun seeing how the experiment works out, one way or the other.

Don't think we'll see Jack again this year. They will try to sell it as a "he's coming along well and we might see him soon" kind of thing until the end of the season, but he's done right now.

Any interest in Saquon Barkley?
Nextmanup replied to Victory Formation's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He is only the former #2 overall pick because the Giants are idiots. -
All joking aside, yes, I think this is correct. There is no way BB thinks Cam Newton is good enough to win. Maybe other QB prospects didn't pan out and he realized he has to tank, get the #1 pick, and find a QB that way. Hmmmm. He could have just kept rolling along with Brady! He's losing it.
-
We might as well go back to cheering for the Sabres. A coaching change isn't coming.
-
Ralph said he is the best breakaway guy on the team, at least in practice. And now the clock starts on the firing of Ralph Krueger. I say he will be here for the rest of the season and maybe into next as well! The Sabres are a laughing stock.

Chris Simms Has Zach Wilson Ahead Of Trevor Lawrence?
Nextmanup replied to H2o's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Remember when Chris Simms was just a garbage QB trying to make it in the NFL? Since when are we supposed to care about what he says, one way or the other? -
Eichel and Reinhart cannot be traded before we acquire a real HC. Staal, Hall, Risto, and lots of other guys can go first. He's not bad. He is pretty much untradeable. His confidence right now is totally shot. And he continues to be grossly misused by a stubborn coach who doesn't have a clue what he is doing. If a real HC comes in here in the next few days, I would pray the first thing he would do is resurrect Skinner's game by putting him back with Eichel and Reinhart. That line worked and it worked very well. Olofsson can go to line 3 or 4 but should be retained on PP1.

As of a few days ago, he literally had the worst +/- of anyone in the league. To say his development has not gone according to plan is an understatement. He was supposed to be the next Bobby Orr. Right now, I think we have seen enough to know he will never be a Norris Trophy candidate. He's just not that caliber of player. I hope he proves me dead wrong.
