  1. To be fair Stroud may be the most disappointing QB this season. Sure folks had dreams of Rogers playing like an MVP but after a mediocre last year in GB, missing the next season with a nasty injury, and being over 40 didn't make it likely Rogers would return to form. But there was no reason to think that Stroud wasn't going to get even better.
  2. Tired of the MVP talk - there are enough uncertainties in a season to worry about. Why add in another one controlled by sports journalist morons and NFL "experts"? I would love to see Allen get it but would much rather see success in the playoffs. Oftentimes saying "I told you so" is more satisfying then enjoying the original success. So this is my last comment on the process. According to the odds for MVP: Allen Jackson Barkley Goff Burrow Are the top 5. In the last 4 weeks Allen & Jackson solidified their hold at the top with impressive performances against Division leading opponents on national TV. For Allen, the key skill players in the games were Cook (105 rushing yards vs Rams) & Johnson (114 receiving yards vs Lions). Jackson's leading skill player was King Henry with 162 & 147 yards rushing respectively. BTW, King Henry should be a top 5 MVP candidate with 1783 yards rushing (his 2nd best season ever). The simple fact is that by any objective standard Jackson is partnering with a top 5 MVP level skill player while Allen is not. And this is why I would give Allen the MVP.
  3. I wasn't pulling down Jackson here. I was simply pointing out that if Jackson had gone down in the preseason the Ravens with one of the best RB's in the NFL could have gotten by. After all Tennessee was a regular playoff participant with Tannyhil thanks in no small part to King Henry. Allen goes down who does the Bills O fall back on?
  4. He would trade those incentives in a nanosecond to win a Super Bowl.
  5. This should settle it between Allen & Jackson:
  6. An even more fundamental question these people need to ask themselves is what would Baltimore's record be if Jackson didn't play this year? Then compare that record to what the Bills record would be if Allen didn't play this season. That would decide things real quick IMO.
  7. Rest assured that Allen doesn't give a crap about this stuff. What he really wants is a Super Bowl win and an MVP performance in that game and the playoffs getting there.
  8. And that's basically how it went until the refs inserted themselves into the game in the 4th quarter on both sides of the ball. First they called a bogus holding penalty wiping out a 12 yard run to inside the Pats 30 yard line on what was shaping up t b the game clinching TD drive and then seemed to be working overtime to get the Pats that last TD late in the 4th.
  9. He played well last season in a couple of cold games late. I'm thinking those that said there was a cold/flu going through the team may have it right. Or Shakir after paying so well this season simply had an off game.
  10. How about the NFL.com and ESPN? PFR is wrong here, plain & simple.
  11. And like the O & D the ST also did some good stuff like a couple of punts to the 10 and a very important 50 yard FG to give Buffalo the lead for good.
  12. Here are the last 3 home games played against the Jets - all in December/January: 2021: 27 - 10 2022: 20 - 12 2023: 32 - 6 Earlier in those seasons the Bills lost 20 - 17 (2021); 22 - 16 (2022) and won a close one 23 - 20 this season.
  13. Actually I think NE had a lot to play for yesterday. They wanted to Keep their coach and were fighting to save his job. Maye's comments after the game were very revealing along those lines. Kind of like what we saw out of Dallas later that night - a much more inspired effort then anyone thought was possible. Beating the Bills in Buffalo when they're the talk of the league would have gone a long way towards saving Mayo's job. In contrast I'm not convinced that the Jet's will have a similar motivation to save their interim coach and Aaron Rogers jobs. I suspect we'll see a game from the Jets more like the one we all expected but didn't get from the Pats.
  14. I thought Maye was very impressive and IMO the Pats will be the Bills biggest challenge in the AFC East over the next 5 years.
  15. Cooper drew Gonzallas (sp) who may be the best CB not on most peoples radar.
  16. Lets wait until the end of the season. I mean the Bills still have a decent chance to get to and win a Super Bowl. As an aside, McD does seem to be in the process of changing his coaching philosophy. His challenge in making the necessary changes is not to throw the baby away with the bath water.
  17. According to Stat Muse and ESPN Allen has only lost TWO fumbles giving him a total of 8 TO's. While Jackson is aggressive and puts the ball in danger to make big plays Herbert is way to conservative and I pay little attention to the value of his having only 5 TO's. The Chargers have lost 6 games this season and Herbert has lost the only playoff game he was in. IMO he is more concerned about throwing INT's then winning football games.
  18. I also think the NE players were playing hard for their coach. Mayes comments after the game indicated that this is a sore sot for the players and they gave it their best effort. I doubt we see the same level of intensity from the Jets in support of their interim coach and Rogers.
  19. And only having 8 TO's for as many times as Allen puts the ball in play is flat out extraordinary. It's the #1 reason the Bills are 12 -3 and close to locking up at minimum a #2 seed.
  20. If the Steelers & Ravens both lose Wednesday the Bills clinch a 2nd seed no matter what happens against the Jets & Pats.
  21. Yes it has and even the most hardcore Chief hater on 2BD has to grudgingly admit that at 14 - 1 it has worked for them. Style points in the regular season are not that important - seeding and staying healthy are far more critical.
  22. It may be time for McD to reexamine his defensive strategy. I get what he's trying to do - force teams into 3rd down and then get off the field with a stop. But all to often early in the game this is not happening. Maybe it would be better to take more risks on D which should lead to more negative plays and TO's and big TD plays being scored on the Bills. The net result will be the O getting more possessions and putting more pressure on the opponents D. The fact remains though that what the Bills let NE do on offense early is what almost cost us this game and cost us the playoff game against the Bengal's. IMO this is the worst thing the D can do as it gives up TD's while the O stews on the sidelines.
  23. While the O wasn't sharp the big problem yesterday was the D's performance in the first half. Those two long time consuming drives by the Pats never should have happened AT HOME. The reality is that the Pats had almost 250 yards and over 20 minutes of TOP in the first half. This robbed the O of at least 2 and probably 3 possessions. Sure the offense was sluggish but that was to be expected after 8 straight games of scoring 30 or more points.
  24. How many games do you think there are left in the season?
  25. As well as again demonstrating that stats aren't the only metric for this award. Allen this season was expected to struggle mightily as he lost his starting center and all but one WR. MVP is stands for Most Valuable Player, not who has the best stats. Allen has been the most valuable player by almost every subjective measure. To be honest, part of me wants Allen to be average against the Jets as the Bills methodically beat them to go 13 - 3 and lock up the #2 seed, then only play a half against NE and Jackson wins the MVP as he puts up big numbers the next couple of weeks with teams keying on King Henry and Jackson throwing TD's to wide open TE's. Then in the playoffs Allen goes on a tear and the Bills win the SB while Jackson flounders. Maybe that will once and for all bury this stupid award voted on by nincompoops.
