  1. Also add Cowherd to the pro Bills/Allen group. He gushed over Allen more then I've ever seen him do. For a lot of these talking heads Sunday night was a crushing loss. It was personal for them because a couple of months ago they were pounding the table claiming that the Bills were done and would miss the playoffs and the Dolphins were an ascending SB team. Sunday demonstrated to all the football world just how little these so called experts actually know about the game of football. The Bills have embarrassed a lot of these talking heads and it gets personal when someone embarrasses you. Allen has embarrassed many of these same cretins who proclaimed that he would never by a successful NFL QB.
  2. That's where I netted out. * The strip sack fumble would have been a fumble for almost every QB in the league given how fast that DT got in on Allen. * The 1st INT may be filed under "nobody's fault" as it was a case of the WR zigging when the QB thought he would zag. And had the refs thrown the flag on the previous plays clear PI then that first INT never happens. * The 2nd INT didn't take points off the board nor did it hand the Finns good field position. Allen made a choice clearly to go away from his first read and then rather then take a sack on 4th down (something I've seen a lot of QB's do) he threw up a 50/50 ball to the end zone. Missing Diggs was the really bad mistake Allen made that was all on him.
  3. To be fair dropping from 3rd to 6th is hardly moving in a 32 team league. And given the caliber of the teams played in weeks 11 - 18 versus 1 - 10 it's easy to see that for all intents and purposes the Bills O performed better regardless what the stats say. In contrast the defensive improvements were substantial. This bodes well for the playoffs. Also the Bills beat 3 teams that won their division this season.
  4. I think it's more like 5 to 1. And how do I know this? First the eye test, then his stats but most importantly his record over the last 4 seasons where he has been an elite level QB. IMO the goal of the Bills franchise should be to understand what Allen is, stop trying to change him fundamentally like they did this off season and just tweak his strengths and weaknesses. And this first involves surrounding him with the type of talent that compliments his style of play. I believe the Steeler's are 1 - 10 when Watt is not playing.
  5. Allen had an uneven first half - at times playing great and at other times making bad mistakes. The Bills moved up and down the field thanks to Allen's play. If you're going to call out his mistakes - missing Diggs on the deep ball was the worst one - then at least acknowledge that a dropped TD pass by Cook and the refs not calling 2 obvious penalties completely altered how Allen's first half went. Allen had a fantastic 4th quarter which won the game with a lot of help from Harty's punt return. In my experience it's better for a QB to play great and not make mistakes in the 4th quarter then the 1st quarter. It's laughable to say that the Bills D was the team MVP. They have overcome a lot of injuries and McD has them playing great right now but that doesn't alter the fact that they could not hold the lead in the last 2 minutes of 3 of the Bills losses. Allen is the Bill's MVP for at least the 4th straight year.
  6. Objectively there isn't a whole lot of objectivity in your post. Did the Bills lose either fumble? No. And what about rushing stats? They suddenly don't count for dual threat QB's like Allen?
  7. BTW did you actually watch the game? Yes the D played great particularly in the 2nd half. But one of the things that enabled the D to play so well was that the Bill's O controlled the TOP over Miami by a ridiculous 38:07 to 21:53 minutes. The Dolphins ran only 48 plays to the Bills 77. This is a stat that contributed a great deal to the Bills winning and Allen had a lot to do wit it.
  8. I agree. My problem i with the over the top attacks on Allen by some on 2BD. IMO these are two entirely different things. And Allen and the team has already played as close to a perfect game as possible - the 2021 playoff win over New England.
  9. When you lead the Bills to 4 consecutive division titles, which ties the best the Bills have EVER done throughout their 60+ years of existence, you deserve to get some slack from your fan base. And by and large the vast majority of the Bills fan base understands the Josh "freaking" Allen experience. In fact I suspect that only a tiny fraction of the fan base criticizes Allen in the over the top fashion some 2BD posters do.
  10. You should what they just called a PF in the Cowboys/Commanders game! The NFL has a BIG ref problem. Cowboys are doing their best to pad Dak's stats so he can steal the MVP from Jackson. Up 35 - 10 midway through the 4th quarter Prescott is still in the game throwing passes to the end zone!
  11. Who cares what anonymous online posters have to say about Allen. Hell I don't care what the NFL talking heads have to say about Allen I care even less about what morons on other message boards think. And yes anyone who says Allen "chokes" or is a "TO machine in big moments" is a moron. Can we all agree that playoff games are "big moments" and do these stats from his 8 playoff games look like "choking" to any reasonable person? Passing: 2334 yards; 64% completion; 17 TD's; 4 INT's; rating = 99.6 Rushing: 417 yards; 6.6 yards per carry; 3 TD's; 1 lost fumble Receiving: 1 catch; 16 yards; 1 TD Total yards = 2767; 346 yards/game; 21 TD's & 5 TO's. As for regular season "big moments", if your QB is choking in these games you don't have 5 straight 10 or more win seasons, 4 straight playoff trips; & 3 straight division titles with more to hopefully come tonight. This narrative about Allen is wrong. Period end of sentence.
  12. Allen doesn't have to "rewrite the narrative of his career" all he has to do is add to it. That narrative is already partially written and it includes: * The first elite Bills QB since Jim Kelly. * The QB that ended the Bills sentence to football purgatory with a bang leading them to 5 straight 10 win or more seasons; 4 straight playoff appearances; 3 straight division titles and a trip to the conference championship. * The QB that led the Bills to their 1st playoff win in 25 years. * The QB that had arguably 2 of the best back to back playoff performances in NFL history. * The QB that has already broke numerous NFL records including most TD's through their first 6 years and the only NFL QB to total 40 or more TD's in 4 straight seasons. * Arguably the most physically gifted QB in NFL history. And for you negative Nancy's: * An at times an overly aggressive QB who is prone to TO's.
  13. The Bengals haven't been all that nuanced in building their roster since Taylor became coach in 2019. He's an offensive guy and used his first two picks take offensive players in 2019, 2020 & 2021. In 2019 they took an OT in round 1 (11th pick) & a TE in round 2. In 2020 they took a QB in round 1 (1st pick of the draft) and a WR with the 1st pick in the 2nd round. In 2021 they took a WR in the 1st round (5th pick) and an OT in the 2nd round. So for his first 3 drafts Taylor took offense in the 1st two rounds (11, 1, 5). That is an enormous investment in draft capitol for the offense. In 2022 & 2023, the Bengals invested heavily in FA to boost their O line with four major signings over the two years.
  14. The fact is the Bengals are a franchise that focuses on the offense as a direct result of having an elite QB: * They have an offensive head coach * They used the 5th pick in the draft to take Chase. * They have invested heavily in their O line to mixed results (like we have on the D line) but there is no denying that the Bengals are better up front then they were in 2021.
  15. I agree and I'm not saying you are doing the nitpicking. But even a casual read of these threads can see that there are some Bills fans who nitpick Allen to death.
  16. The Bengal's made a decision based on what was best for their offense. They did this because they have an elite QB and they have worked tirelessly the last few seasons to surround him with the best possible talent on O. The Bills made off season FA decisions based on what was best for their defense. At its core this is the fundamental difference between Buffalo and the other leading SB contenders this season.
  17. This is true of every elite QB in the NFL today. I agree that Allen owns some of this but at the same time the Bills have not focused on surrounding him with high end play makers until just this off season and that was through the draft. Allen is the reason the Bills are playing for a division title tomorrow and the reason that they've won at least 10 games for the last 5 seasons, and are on the cusp of winning at least 11 games for 4 straight seasons and are about to make it 5 straight playoff seasons and 4 straight division titles. IMO nitpicking what Allen could do a little better to get the Bills over the hump is the last place this team needs to look.
  18. Brown was the field stretcher in 2020 and we haven't had one since for a couple of seasons. This is a huge need when you have a QB that can put the ball almost anywhere on the field from almost any spot on the field. The other thing the Bill's receiving group doesn't have is the type of WR that turns 50/50 balls into 90/10 balls. The kind that can high point the ball. You know a guy like D Hop. The Bills, focusing on the D signed Floyd who has played great and leads the team in sacks. On the other hand if they had signed D Hop can you imagine how much better the O would be? Look at the numbers D Hop has posted with the crap QB's in TN throwing to him: 68 catches for 1011 yards & 6 TD's. These are the choices that the Bills, as a defensive minded franchise, are making. The Bengals let 2 very good safeties walk in order to free up money to further strengthen their O line to protect their elite QB so he could make more throws to their elite collection of WR's.
  19. In fact wasn't this the play where a smart Diggs would have slowed down and drawn a guaranteed PI call? Is that all on Allen or does the fact that the receivers often don't get open or at other times drop the ball contribute to this?
  20. And we all see that this happens to EVERY other team in the NFL, especially this season.
  21. But doesn't this just illustrate that even the elite QB's can have bad games? Remember Mahomes stunk up the joint against NE in an AFC title game before having a brilliant 2nd half. There is more to the advantage an elite QB gives a team going to and winning a Super Bowl then their play. There is an aura of confidence they bestow on the whole team that is difficult to quantify but IMO very real.
  22. Eight of the last 9 Super Bowl winning teams have been led by elite QB's including the last 5 in a row (Brady, Stafford & Mahomes). So things seem to have changed.
  23. So you're blaming Allen for the D blowing three games where the Bills had the lead with less then 2 m9nutes to go?
  24. Given his production in TN and the "quality" of QB's throwing to him D Hop would clearly be the #2 guy in Buffalo. In fact he would be the 1B guy. And his presence would draw coverage away from Diggs. The Bills made a choice and they went with defense. And you can argue that from a defensive standpoint it was the right choice. But therein lies the problem, the best teams with the best chances of making and winning a SB are all focusing on their offense. Even Baltimore with it's great D spent the off season focusing on the O and helping Jackson out. I would love to know the answer to this question.
