  1. There was nothing wrong with that pass. The fact that Allen hit Coleman in the stomach on a play he first had to pump fake a free rusher and then was nailed as he released the ball was another high level play by the QB. But I will take anything positive with Coleman that can motivate him to turn his game around. If he elevates his play it would be huge for the Bills this season and beyond.
  2. And for the first time in a while a windy, cold day that limits the passing attack would definitely be in the Bills favor. If the weather is crap I see a game like yesterday's where the Bills ground the Bengals down late. If the weather is great and the passing game is enabled I see this game going a lot like the Tampa Bay game with the Bills winning a shootout.
  3. Be very happy and also wonder if they could have won even more SB's with an offensive minded HC & GM. But my happiness at winning the SB would overshadow any such thoughts.
  4. They mentioned it a couple of times.
  5. A little to harsh IMO. First, the Bills O was without BOTH starting tackles AND was missing their most effective pass catching TE AND were missing 2 of their 3 best WR's. In that situation it's the responsibility of the D to keep them in the game and if possibe force game changing TO's. Second, once ignited the Bills O was dominant - 3 possessions; 211 yards (56, 72, 83 yd drives); 17 points and 21 minutes 45 seconds 2nd half TOP.
  6. It's not controversial, it's wrong. Without the threat of Allen teams would be in a much better position to bottle up Cook.
  7. Bingo. The Bills offense struggled in the 1st half but the D kept them in the game. Then the D scores a quick TD and after that the Bills O is dominant: Three 2nd half possessions; 17 points; 211 yards (drives of 56, 72 & 83 yards) and an astounding 21 minutes 45seconds of TOP.
  8. I've lived down here in Cincy since the 1980's and Taylor is an odd one. Overall I don't think he's a good coach but he does know offense. If the Bengal's fire him, and I don't see them doing that, I would want the Bills to hire hm as OC in a heartbeat. You're right about the Brown family as owners. But the issue for the Bengals is that Burrow can't stay healthy and his injuries have compromised 4 seasons including this one. The frustrating thing is Adam's has been available the last 3 seasons as he's been on the Jets, Raiders and now the Rams. It all comes down to choices.
  9. They're so poorly run that they played in back to back AFC Championship games and made it to a Super Bowl. The Bengals made the strategic decision to go all in on the offense. The problem is that Burrow cant stay healthy. Zack Taylor and this offense with a healthy Allen would have played in 2 Super Bows winning one at a minimum.
  10. I am very confident that the Bengal's would have won a Super Bowl with Allen not least because he would have been available to play in a lot more games then Burrow has.
  11. How do the Eagles, Rams, Ravens, Cowboys, Bengals and others have great WR's with their high priced QB's?
  12. I've seen the exact same thing over the past couple of years. Guys routinely making great plays that you almost never see from Bills WR's. You want to feel even worse? Check out a slate of college games on Saturday and you will see that those kids are also making great catches and helping their QB's out. The two starting WR's for Ohio State are better then any WR on the Bills TODAY.
  13. Great throw and an especially great route by Meyers who established his position in the end zone for the TD. High end play by the WR.
  14. Based on what I've seen from ALL the potential Bills playoff rivals today, the Bills could beat any one of them or they could lose to any one of them. But NONE of them have looked very impressive. This might be a season where getting INTO the playoffs is all that matters because once they're in any of these teams could get hot and get to the Super Bowl.
  15. The key point is that "Steve also gave up a 40 spot in the SUPER BOWL". It has been a LONG TIME since McD coached a D that went to the Super Bowl.
  16. No one is going to convince me that the NFL doesn't want NE back at the top battling every year with Buffalo. A lot of interesting referee decisions in today's Bengals/Pats game.
  17. Yet in the end the McD defense has had only one great playoff game in 13 during the Allen era. And in every Bills playoff exit the McD D has played badly.
  18. And in the NFL it often works for Allen like a week earlier with his deep TD pass to Savers. The Bills will never completely get this out of Allen, What they should do is construct an offensive roster and scheme that best utilizes this skill. Instead they have built an offense that encourages Allen to do this out of frustration when things aren't going well. IMO everyone is nibbling around the edges of the problem with jabs at what Allen could do better when the problem is simple: the Bills have never tried to build an offense around Allen that matches his style of play and provides him with the most complimentary talent possible under the CAP. They have a defensive minded HC who didn't get along with the one above average OC they had and has tried to build a team that seems counter intuitive to what one would do with a guy like Allen at QB,
  19. This. As Allen sits on the sideline and watches a putrid Texan offense bully the Bills D going up and down the field the desperation starts to creep in. Allen understands that he has to make superman plays to win the game. What you are seeing with Allen taking more sacks this year has little to do with Allen regressing or his QB coach failing and a lot to do with the offensive scheme and lack of quality play makers on the field (Kincaid is a quality play maker who is often not on the field). * The O line has regressed in pass protection. This is obvious to me. * The broken play is the only way the Bills can generate big play offense this season so Allen will do anything, even the wrong thing, to keep the play alive. * The lack of WR separation is forcing Allen to hold on to the ball. * Teams have figured out and adjusted to Brady's offense.
  20. Yea because we all know that giving the ball to your RB 4 STRAIGHT times on a drive worked real well in high school. And McD has done this so often I think he really believes it. Its explains why every season plays out like Ground Hog Day in the final results.
  21. The problem with McD's comments is that he doesn't address the elephant in the room - the woeful first half performances of his defenses in multiple games. Against Houston, Atlanta, Baltimore & Tampa Bay the Bills D was largely non-existent for one half to three quarters of the game. I've seen this bizarre and frankly disgusting shtick from McD before where he throws the offense under the bus for not plying great while making excuses for and/or not recognizing the putrid play of his defense - a unit that gets the lions share of draft picks & FA signings and represents his personal area of expertise. To be even fairer the defense was awful in the 1st half against Houston and was awful for large parts of the games against the Ravens, Bucs, Dolphins & Falcons. Defense is a McD specialty it's his area of expertise. On top of that the lions share of FA signings and draft capital has been allocated to the D. It is not enough to make effective adjustments later in a game.
  22. Scoring defense is not the only thing that matters. Lack of creating turnovers, giving up long time consuming drives robbing the offense of possessions, giving up non scoring drives that flip the field position and the point in a game that a defense allows scoring drives can matter just as much. By any rational assessment the Bills are a bottom 10 D. If we can't agree on this then we can't agree on anything.
  23. I like this but I'm not entirely sure I agree with it. At the end of last season I would have agreed with this 100%. Now I'm not so sure. For this to be true that Allen will spend his career in Buffalo no one needs to be fired but a hard reorientation of the teams priority's from the D to the O must happen. And this includes a new offensive strategy not predicated on protecting the D and aggressive drafting and FA signings of offensive players.
  24. No one player can lift a team above mediocrity if the roster talent is below average. Marino, who IMO was the greatest pure passing QB in NFL history, went 8-8, 6-10, 8-8 & another 8-8 in seasons where he started every game for the Dolphins. This might actually work as long as McD allows Daboll the freedom to run the O. For Daboll it would be a great stepping stone to another HC job and a new GM can go about reorienting the Bills FA & Draft priority's towards the offense. Of course all of this would be a moot point if the Bills went on a run and made the Super Bowl this season.
