Week 14 - Ravens (-6.5) at Bills Over/Under 44
WideNine replied to SlimShady'sSpaceForce's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Not so much I think, we have 2 or so guys returning on offense that were around for that game. I think that the plan for that game a year ago was that the Bills could lean on their defense while their offense found its legs, but that score was a beat down of our defense plain and simple. And the offense did not help, but OBD should not have been expecting much help from them. So definitely something to prove on that side of the house. We have some new components and young guys on D who have improved, but I still worry about our ability to stop the run. We will see what McD and Frazier are able to cook up... -
I could be wrong but I think Wallace has been losing some snap counts with Taron Johnson healthy. Taron was in on 85% of the defensive snaps against the Cowboys, and Kevin Johnson was in on some too. Wallace is still getting his share of playing time, but Taron getting healthy again is good for this team and gives them a lot of options in the secondary. That being said, this game will be won or lost in the trenches and the box. Would help if our offense got off to a fast start, but I see McD giving the Ravens offense the ball to start the game even if we win the toss. Teams seem to always take that first possession and score on us so I am not sure what advantage deferring buys us?

Where does Brady play after this season?
WideNine replied to BuffalothruMyVeins's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
No where. Could try his hand at working more on the production side of things as an analyst or something. -
Yep. No ST gaffes, no turnovers, and don't give their struggling offense a short field to work with and you have a good chance of beating them. Especially if you can go up on them a score or two and are able to keep that pressure/passing D in check with some run balance. As Baltimore did show, they really struggle with defending the RPO and (Run) Option. Daboll has been getting Allen more acclimated to running those plays.

This "we are playing terrible" thing seems pretty new to them I like the sarcasm..."Edelman's fault (on that throw) he does not have a 72" vertical". I have that Doors tune "The End" running through my head right now. This is the end, beautiful friendThis is the end, my only friend, the endOf our elaborate plans, the endOf everything that stands, the endNo safety or surprise, the endI'll never look into your eyes, againCan you picture what will be, so limitless and freeDesperately in need, of some, stranger's handIn a, desperate land Dare we hope that the bell finally tolls for NE? Belichick is a very good coach and I expect they still have fight in them but they are looking more vulnerable than I can ever remember. That defense is far less effective playing from behind.

Top 4 passing QB - No winning records
WideNine replied to Hapless Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This. You can have a passing attack that eats up clock and just moves the chains. Sprinkle in some designed runs to keep the pass rush honest, QB scrambles to move the chains, and you may not have that air raid attack, but you will keep the other offense off the field. Usually, those are not lop-sided yardage and score games; rather, they are games where a team is in control of field position,TOP, and the score. Throwing for a ton of yards USUALLY means trying to catch up in a game where there has been a defensive melt down. It also usually (not always) means turnovers, sacks, and ints on the side chucking it downfield. It is not a direct correlation to winning football games. That is why the magic 300 yard mark is so meaningless in regards to winning football games. If folks on this board said they would like to know if Josh could throw 300 plus yards and get us back in a game, I think we have seen some 4th qtr comebacks with glimpses of that. That being said, I don't think he is quite there yet to have to pass for 350 or 400 yards to have us climb back into a game. Or at least I would not want to have to ask him to do that yet, but I am confident that level of skill is in there and will gradually emerge. As I have said before, if he keeps working he will keep trending in the right direction. -
Was not apologizing for his behavior, just offering up prayers for the victims all around this man. And I always hope that folks can turn their lives around, even those that end up having to make that change behind bars. And at 30 I was still young enough to make poor decisions; I was "fortunate" enough that they usually only backfired on myself.

Am I the only one that thinks if you do not read this article a bit closely it seems like the accused is pictured as a Bills' player instead of this being a picture of TP? Just thought it was a tad misleading considering the gnat-sized patience most have to read, but then again it is Bleacher Report. https://bleacherreport.com/articles/2864795-shalaya-briston-charged-in-terrelle-pryor-stabbing-nfl-wr-charged-with-assault

This. In particular our defense has really struggled with offenses that have used 2 running backs in the back field. With Lamar back there you essentially have two very good running backs, with the added twist that Lamar throws a good ball on the move when he breaks contain and the defense peals off their coverage assignments to come up to make a stop on him. Not only on very open receivers, but I have seen some nice 50/50 touch throws to well-covered receivers that he has delivered on the move. Our defense is not really well suited to stop this and I don't think it is personnel, I think it is our scheme. We do not deviate very much from who we are and what we do well. That being said McD has shown some willingness to blitz far more than he has done in the past so we will see. For this game we would have to play a bit out of character - run-heavy teams have been a problem for us and we are going to get a healthy dose of this. I would say that we lock up playing man defense down-field and go after Jackson and Ingram with our front and LBs, but I am pretty sure Belichick tried that and was schooled - that does not happen often as we all know. Gang tackling Jackson and Ingram will be paramount. Like Allen that is easier said than done. Plenty of teams go up against us saying, "we just need to keep Allen in the pocket and then we can get him down on the ground". Then they watch in disbelief as he breaks tackles and contain and does exactly what they were trying to stop. Jackson and Ingram are those kinds of players too. Our best defense will be sustained, effective offense. Our only real chance is if we can keep their offense on the sideline and delivery long sustained drives that end in TD's. Hausch money has been anything but, and we cannot afford to trade field goals for their TD's. Make no mistake, this is a very confident team that has been performing at a pretty consistent high-level for longer than our Bills have. I think we are going in the right direction, but I think they have had a bit more runway in regards to fine-tuning their offensive identity and getting the most out of their skill positions. Not conceding anything, just keeping it real and know that the Bills have much bigger test against this team than they had against Dallas.

Nice. Aren't Bills fans are more well known for their beer bellies and crushing folding tables? I think I could relate to ol' Bill on Thursday afternoon after we laid to rest a lot of prime-time demons Now is the winter of our discontent Made glorious summer by this sun of York; And all the clouds that lour'd upon our house In the deep bosom of the ocean buried.

I do think they struggle with Baltimore. This defense gets exposed week after week against the run, and creative run design is Roman's bread and butter. That will put a lot of stress on Allen and this offense to keep pace with limited TOP. I am not down on our team, I just think it is a bad matchup for us. The rest, we can take Pittsburgh and we know what kind of fight the other two will be.

Allen 4th and 1 opinions wanted

Can be advanced by the player who fumbled, not another offensive player. -
Roll call for officiating conspiracy believers

Jerry Hughes never gets held. Perhaps not conspiracy, but there is no doubt in regards to systemic, organizational officiating bias. -
Good Stuff! Riddick and Stephen A. Giving Props
WideNine replied to billsbackto81's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It is hard to show more ignorance of the game than that guy. It was more Dallas not playing up to their potential. Just idiotic. What an informed breakdown of the X's and O's. The way Dak LET himself be strip-sacked... Riddick then kindly introduces the slower student in the room to concepts like downfield coverage and pressure packages. It is not like the Bills did not miss on some opportunities to cash in more, or did not have some interceptions overturned with nebulous calls. Looked like he started drinking heavily yesterday watching his cowboys fail, and barely sobered up for the cameras. -
Was not knocking Smoke at all and I know what he has done this season, but you realize that he only had 26 yards this game because of the attention Dallas was giving him? My point was that teams are focusing on taking Brown out by putting their best DB on him and double-covering him, but that just opens things up for all our other receivers. If Brown were one of those stat-craving prima donnas some were saying the Bills needed to sign, he would be pouting in the locker room. I can guaranty Brown was enjoying the team celebration and just happy he contributed to the "W". Allen is coming into his own... I expect some ups and downs still, but he is putting in the work to change the narrative many had of him coming out of the draft.

Teams have done a lot to take Brown away figuring Allen was mostly one-read QB and by taking away Brown (his usual first read) Allen would get rattled. I thought Beasley, Knox, and our other receivers would have to pick up their games and the slack. They have certainly risen to the occasion, and Allen is more than a one-read QB.
