  1. I won't disagree with the profile, but we have speed. I think it is or should also be a matter of route discipline and where Josh is as a QB. A good route runner creates separation with quickness in and out of his breaks, but that also requires Allen to throw it right before he comes out of his breaks to take advantage of the separation before a DB recovers. Allen has gotten better with that, but is not quite there with the consistency. That may be the reason Daboll has preferred to use guys who can create more separation that Allen can visually confirm rather than guys who can catch contested throws into tight windows.
  2. Usually a defensive player, and we have a defensive-minded HC. WR...I don't see happening as the first Bills pick, but you can bookmark this post and see if I am right after the draft.
  3. BPA at a position of need. Prob DE as they go off the board first, and we have Hughes not getting any younger, an ineffective Murphy at RDE, and Shaq who may test FA. Then BPA at DB, WR, LB, or OL...could go in a lot of directions. As far as receivers go they just need to focus on a bigger, physical receiver, who catches with his hands, highpoints, catches contested throws. Something like a Duke Williams who has been riding the pine while Daboll rolls out the speedy Smurf corps. Would love to know what the deal is with that because he seemed like he was developing some chemistry with Allen and was throwing great downfield blocks. Then it was healthy scratch, healthy scratch, healthy scratch... Did he take a dump on Daboll's desk?
  4. They will give him help with Knox and Kroft, or at least they should. I would not be surprised if the Broncos have Miller test Dawkins too on 3rd and longs to try to get the strip sack turnover from blind side. I would. Ford is not the only worry. They should make it clear to both, if it comes down to a blind side hit on Allen, tackle the guy instead and take the penalty.
  5. Yeah, you would like to see him throw it away a bit sooner than that, but that is the competitor in him with eyes downfield till the d-lineman is breathing right down his neck. He still thought he could shake the guy and make a play, but finally had to concede he was on the verge of taking a sack for a loss.
  6. Flores is not too shabby of a defensive coach, you can draw some conclusions that the adjustments the Bills made for Allen and the offense were effective. Particularly against the pressure/overload packages defenses have been using on 3rd down to rattle Allen. I think we caught a break with some of their injuries, but that's just the way it goes as the season progresses - guys get dinged.
  7. He threw a 50/50 ball to a well covered Brown on a post that last week I don't think he throws. Brown fought for it and won... give Allen a few more play-makers like that and his confidence will continue to grow in regards to throwing guys open and trusting them to make a play on the ball. The o-line did a great job in pass-pro, giving Allen plenty of time. The Dolphins tried the same thing every team has been doing to Allen, loading up the box on 3rd down, but he is getting more used to what teams are doing to confuse and pressure him. Just takes seeing it enough times...we have to be patient.
  8. I think the OP explained why this may work better for Josh - good call.
  9. Really cannot hit the arrow on this and play it again...bad enough when they replayed it during the game. Just made me cringe.
  10. Yep, and that mad scramble behind the LOS and reversing the field created the situation where a defensive player dove and prob broke Nsekhe's ankle. You will notice a lot more injuries happen around poorly executed or broken plays. I think McD is trying to send a message to the whole team about penalties and ball security.
  11. Don't hold back the shade-throwing - how do you really feel Tom? ? Plenty of folks have been saying there will be good and bad games as Allen learns the ropes. Last week was rough with plenty of venting from everyone, and the Bills needed to shake things up. I have a feeling McDermott was more actively involved in the game planning and self-scouting for both sides of the ball after last week. I think that is likely how they came up with Daboll in the booth and Frazier being uncharacteristically more aggressive on D.
  12. The only reason Fitz had that was that we have a defensive scheme that usually sits back at the sticks on 3rd down - rushing 4 rather than bring the heat, and we had one drive where the D clearly stopped them short of the sticks and the officials gave them a first with a poor spot of the ball which extended the drive. Where there was good D improvement was using more pressure packages in the first half and 3rd qtr that produced sacks and near INTs, stopping the run, and screens were a non-factor.
  13. Allen knows he has to protect the lead - he was more cautious. You like what you see when he plays more free... the balance in his game will come over time.
  14. We survived a bad defensive philosophical approach. Extraordinary effort by Edmunds.
  15. Yeah - I just don't like our zone with 4-man rush. Too much time for Fitz
  16. ST is crapping the bed today... along with the defense going suck zone.
  17. 37 points for the offense.... trending in the right direction.
  18. Pancake blocks don't exist anymore - the announcers are right. Miami's guard got called on one of those when he simply shoved Murphy on his ass. If I am a defensive lineman I would just lock up with the o-lineman and fall over backwards
  19. Daboll calling a hell of a game - gotta hand it to him. Been critical of him for weeks.
  20. There will be a time to go slow, but it ain't quite there yet
  21. The tempo thing the announcers don't get is that Allen plays better up-tempo
  22. It is game's like this where our board's defensive side apologist get a bit annoying. Great defenses close games out like this when the offense gives them the chance - ours seems to go soft too often. Not sure if it is the players, or the coordinator, or both, but damn keep the foot on the pedal.
