Agree. Our DE position needs impact players and depth and why search for maybe players when you have Shaq who can step in... Johnson is raw still and is a liability in run defense, but i think he will come on given more experience. Allows this staff to start looking for Lorax V.2 as he can't keep going forever.

I think you are right, as he was brought in as a one-gap DT not a two-gap DT or NT. His build, style of play, his burst, low pad level, and pursuit reminded scouts of Aaron Donald sans all the success and proven ability:) I think he is 10-15 lbs heavier than Donald, and I don't think the Bills want him much heavier. His game is speed and power leveraged to be a penetrating disruptive DT not a wide-bodied run-stuffer.

Don't know if it is one or the other, you need both. If you can shut down the run and force a team into being one-dimensional your pass defense reaps the benefits. It helps too if the offense can get up on them early to force a team into thinking pass only to catch-up. When the Bills were sporting a great pass defense, but started to get gashed against the run it impacted our defense as a whole. Unable to get off the field, having to commit our safeties to the box, leaving our secondary exposed, poor field position for our offense if the D did get a stop with less offensive chances due to poor TOP. If you can run on a team that has a high-powered offense you keep that offense cooling its heels on the sideline. We can agree to disagree, but IMO I don't think a good run defense is a fad that has gone out of style. -
Risner looks good - solid rookie and will only get better if he can continue to stay healthy. Liked him as a draft prospect.

12th. Not too shabby. NE made them look crazy bad, but we know a thing or two about that ourselves. Not a fan of Williams nor the Jets cheap shot players, but he has some talent to work with there. He did not come into a franchise where the cupboards were bare. Their rookie DT Q. Williams is finally starting to play better rather than just play dumb. -

Need my sarcasm button adjusted... I am just tired of hearing about our weak schedule when I think those weak teams can be problematic. I am hoping Dallas did not look too far past NE and we catch them thinking we cannot hang with them. -

Just a fact, NY Jets are averaging 79.1 yards/game in rush defense that is good for #1 in the NFL. -

Any win is a quality win in my book. I would take poor quality wins all the way to hoisting the Lombardi and never apologize. -

Not sure what your point is, but MY point was that any given Sunday an NFL team can come in with a good game plan and win. All this talk of schedule is just non-sense. You win against the opponent in front of you and even a team with no wins can come together for a game and be tough, or simply match up well. -

Jets creamed Oakland - it was a laugher, but you know they are one of the EASY teams on our schedule. Folks miss that they are talented up front and I think are the #1 rush defense or pretty darn close. We owned Denver from beginning to end, if our defense could hold onto some passes right into their hands we would have tacked on a defensive score or two. -

That Dallas pass rush is getting no where up the middle pushing the pocket. Have to get pressure up the middle to rattle Brady into his illegal grounding that he rarely gets called on. There. That is how you do it -

...and that is what you do against a defense that is standing up... you fire out and run at them. -
Does Wallace play for Dallas... I shouldn't, but how far off their nickle was playing Edelman I was getting flashbacks. I do think Wallace will get better, but needs to be more aggressive to take the next step. Brady is all about those drag and crossing routes... they work better when NE can get away with picks, but they have been getting called on that this year more than I have ever seen before.
-
Yeah - that would be a good thing because that kid is on fire and super confident. NE excels at reading runs and run blitzes to attack the gaps, with a QB that can fake the run and hit another gap they get exposed. Damn that had to be a pick play that just happened need to see it - just a blown coverage by cowgirls
-
That's what I want to see, Belichick has shielded Brady with his strong defense this year. Would like to see how he plays if they are down two scores.
-
Man if that was Allen....that was an easy layup
-
There is that Baltimore play that worked well against NE and everyone is copying it including us.
-
No zip on that ball at all and all day to throw...
-
Brady is a hand-off machine today.... hmmm
-
Dallas is starting out pooping the bed. Not used to playing a team the Bills see twice a year.

Darnold has looked better against teams since seeing Belichicks ghosts all over the field. I have said it before, but I think it is a curse and a blessing for these young QBs to be in the same division as NE. No team disguises coverages and brings so many different pressure packages than NE and Belichick loves making young QBs look foolish. But iron sharpens iron and these guys will get to see things that force them to break down a lot of film and will make reading other defenses a lot easier. -

The Denver board was lighting up with " Sure Josh Allen sucks, he just converts 3rd downs and wins"... followed by a lot of doomed comments. A bit small of me I know, had to peak at them after some of the comments earlier this week about how we have not beaten anyone. -
