Mike Vrabel - Now hired as the new Patriots coach
NoHuddleKelly12 replied to H2o's topic in The Stadium Wall
Definitely don’t love this hire for our sakes…but we should still be the better team anytime Josh suits up. -
And so the carousel twirls on. So glad the Bills got off the Merry Go Round and have enjoyed some well deserved stability under the current regime!

@Successis spot on! I have extended family and multiple friends who are die hard Chefs fans, and it’s almost so bad with their sensitivity and yet simultaneous condescension, that we can’t talk football unless it’s confined to discussing say, the craptastic show that is Aaron/Jets…the rest of my family are Steelers fans so let’s just say it’s been a hoot growing up as the only Bills fan amongst all that…anecdotal evidence I know, but it’s all led me to hating the Chiefs more now than the Pats of yesteryear, and that’s saying something, lol 😆.

I can’t disagree with any of your points, but just a small digression if I may…my single greatest frustration with the league heading into the end of the season (and frankly ever since the Bills began owning the East again), is that the league stole a bye from all but the 1 seed, which is ridiculous and took a system that was not broken, and devised a ham handed “fix” for it instead. And we’ve been on the short end ever since. Recall all of the injuries from the Steeler WC game last season that forced us into a situation of playing Mr. “RV” Klein against the Chefs? My prediction is that someday we will have an 18 game season, and a return of the 2 seed bye—but will that happen soon enough?

Random talking head says something about the Bills
NoHuddleKelly12 replied to Simon's topic in The Stadium Wall
McD has earned a lot of cushion (warranted imho) for the way the Bills responded this year to losing so much of their core cadre from last year, and being almost universally expected to have a rebuilding middling type year at best—all whilst dragging along a staggering dead cap hit of 64.2 million!! Yes Josh Allen’s continued maturation under Brady is the single most important piece of this, but McD has created the environment and culture to allow that process to thrive. -
Merry Christmas TBDers!! Hope you and yours are having a great one!

80 Years, Battle of the Bulge & "The Forest Truce"
NoHuddleKelly12 replied to ExiledInIllinois's topic in Off the Wall
A great vignette showing what is possible even in the darkest of times such as that war…good reminder of that OP. Also reminiscent of the Christmas truce of 1914, when soldiers spontaneously laid down their arms and locked hands across the bloody trench lines of Western Europe for a few inexplicable days of peace and “fraternization” with the enemy (that their superiors could not understand and sought to prevent). The 2005 movie “Joyeux Noel” depicts that event, fwiw. -
Occurring at an average yardage gain depth of 8.5 on first down, bet. 🥴

Josh Allen gets his perfect Christmas gift: Elvis Presley

Can Elvis make a 24-yd FG? 🥴 -
Week 16, Cheats v. Bills, PREDICT THE SCORE!
NoHuddleKelly12 replied to Freddie's Dead's topic in The Stadium Wall
Good guys: 38-13 (furious garbage time scoring by the Cheatriots against our D-squad substitutes lets them break into double digit territory, after 5-TD Josh leaves the game for good at halftime up 35-0. Unfortunately, our backup QB is not great) -
Josh gets slimed (in a good way)

But each athlete is also a product of their time to include the contemporary standards of preparation, nutrition, strength and conditioning—or lack thereof…Babe wouldn’t be drinking and smoking in the dugout, and Jim would probably be training more in the offseason and taking better care of his body, etc. Those types of changes would also translate to statistical improvements logically.

I didn’t mean to imply that he was—I just went off on a tangent ranting since his name was brought up and yes, I’m still bitter 🙈.

Provided lots of dashed hopes and dreams! He was the equivalent of eating empty calories with zip nutritional value—dude could put up numbers, but for us never when it counted most.

Kelly routinely outdueled other HOF QB’s from his era—and he most certainly had the arm—he threw it just shy of 80 yards (78) deep at his pro day after having rehabbed from a devastating college injury at the U, prompting Don Shula to leave on the spot and comment, “I’ve seen enough, the kid can throw” (Armed & Dangerous by JK & Vic Carucci); I would encourage some more visits to the YouTube archives circa ‘88-‘93 before spouting off too much about supposed deficiencies in his overall abilities! Also fun to watch would be any USFL Gamblers Kelly footage—that’s like watching Josh Allen going to town today… https://youtu.be/3EtVk0Cixjw?feature=shared

Sure seems like we’ve seen this movie before, where the media starts fawning over “gritty” Mahomes playing through an otherwise “crippling” injury—which magically goes away once he plays the Bills…🤷

I also swear I saw a Detroit player’s knee make initial contact with the ball while it was squirting out from Taron’s hands at the beginning of the play, and push it back into the pile—but that is purely anecdotal 🤷. Either way, kudos to the Bills (Taron) not letting Detroit wrestle it away while the refs looked on dumbly for 10 minutes (probably hoping for a Detroit takeaway)…
